    Your garden is amazing! Everything seems to be going strong. I wasn't able to garden this year. But, I have plans to plant the garden next year. I always love seeing your garden updates. Your fall gardens get me interested and thinking about spring planting again. Aww, love the new garden cat! Everybody needs one. Enjoy your weekend.🙂

      The cats help keep the varmints out of the garden, and they are so cute when they are kittens. Good luck on your garden! 🤠

    Your fall garden looks good! Ive got some of the same planted here in Tn. Our growing season (usually) ends in October. This weather has been crazy this year... Were getting freezing weather at night, 60s & 70s during the day. I hope you have a Blessed harvest!

    Thanks for the tour! We have more than 10 banana flowers going, I hope you aren't right about losing them!!!! Maybe we will wrap them up for the one or two days of freezing weather.

      The bunches can be wrapped, but I have had no luck trying to cover the trees. The trees will turn brown, but the fruit still seems to ripen. It will not get any bigger though. 🤠

    Young green bananas can be boiled and mashed with butter , salt and b. pepper to taste. its a very great alternative to white potatoes. Goes great with any meat dish with a gravy.. Its a Staple in Both The Caribbean and Africa. Not just to eat ripe. Ninette Bird- The Caribbean Wife- Cameron Tx.

    You mentioned making lemonade for the Church function, maybe have the church folks come and pick the fruit off the tree as needed. How do you keep your pathways free of weeds? Have a great tomorrow.

      The pathways are lined with black plastic then covered with cypress mulch. This works well until the mulch breaks down, a couple years. Then I need to weed, but the roots are shallow, so easy. It did get better once I switched from overhead irrigation to drip irrigation. Now the pathways get much less water, and grow fewer weeds. 🤠

    good morning I love your garden, how do make your banana that productive? what fertilizer do you use? I am from south Texas too Hidalgo County

    • @DeepSouthTexas
      @DeepSouthTexas  6 місяців тому

      I am not doing anything special. Bananas need a lot of water. When the leaves start to drop or wilt, I chop them off and strew them under the trees. Other than that they occasionally get some Miracle grow if I am fertilizing other parts of the garden. 🤠
