XxAcidRainxX i wonder if a negative of the original vinyl will sound the same like have the same songs? or would it be something completely different we never hear? lets find out
Your memories live on in these videos. I thank you for educating me throughout the years. You were an inspiration to thousands. And even in your death, you continue to inspire more about science.
You should purchase a globular glass "jar" along with other shapes. The circular glass jar should be stronger so it will be really interesting to see it compared to the normal one. Thanks. Up vote this so he can see.
Henri_the_fry_guy some people keep the same idea for more than five episodes.Be happy he doesn't keep it the same for every episode.Plus these are questions by fans.
You're right, it was the audio from my microphone, not from the GoPro. I checked the original footage and there is no sound from the GoPro. Only the vibrations from the internal microphone when the jar is hit.
While grant already answered the question - Sound can travel in a vacuum chamber. Sound travels through any medium - its only vibrations in materials that we call sound, it isn't anything beyond kinetic energy transference. In a vacuum chamber, the chamber walls transmit sound. With a properly tuned mic attached to the walls - or a laser mic, you can hear sound or detect kinetic energy vibrating the walls in a vacuum chamber.
He should definitely demonstrate whether the vacuum makes an appreciable difference to how much force is required to break it, i.e., do we really need to take extra precautions?
Owgla since it isn't a perfect vacuum you might see some transfer of sound. A speaker can't be completely suspended without magnets, so vibration may be transmitted through the chamber as well. Would be interesting to see how much sound is transmitted.
They've done glass breaking, I'm not sure that slo motion of this particular experiment would give us any additional information or even be that interesting sadly.
my guess is that it would sink. The air is what allows it to float because the air is less dense than the water. take away the air and you only have the weight of the glass jar, wich would then sink.
Keep in mind that floating isn't always dependant if there's air in the medium or not. As long as you're buyant enough, you'll float. vacuum or not. If a glass pane floats, there's no real reason why a jar shouldn't float, even with a vacuum on the inside. It's buyancy that dictates that. Keep in mind, a normal glass cup floats, even with some water in it.
Grant Thompson Please put i think its called ooblek or a non newwtonian fluid as oblivion said its when cornstarch is mixed with water and it gets hard when u punch it in the vacuum chamber please i want to see how it will change throughout out
I worked at an electronics recycling center where we would take things apart and collect the recyclable components, there were some very large Cathode Ray Tube television picture tubes that made implosions so loud that the building shook when one was dropped on another face-to-face. Thanks for the memories :-)
hey grant can you get your hands on something i just discovered called "ferrofluid"? i think it would be fun to experiment with. maybe even put it in a vacume chamber
It will EXPLODE if the can breaks. Soda has tons of molecules of CO2 dissolved in it. As the pressure decreases on the outside, the aluminum can might not be able to hold it all in.
The inner chamber will have less stress upon it. With the sealing method shown in this video, the inner chamber would have trouble sealing. If some mechanical clamping is arranged on the inner chamber to make it seal properly, it will (in best cases) be found to degrade the vacuum more slowly, since there is less external pressure to force gas through the seal.
Actually if you want to make bread fluffy, you need two things. A leavening agent, something that will put air bubble into it, and structure, something in the dough that will keep the bubbles in. The structure is done by gluten. As you knead dough, it becomes harder and harder, because the gluten is proving more structure. Depending on the type of bread you're making, ie Irish soda bread or dinner rolls, you'd use different things
It would explode since unopened cans of soda are underpressure so in a vaccum with no atmosphere to prevent expansion of the bottle the bottle will expande and eventually burst
You should mess around with some Prince Rupert's Tears. They are made of glass and are a unique mix of properties. The fat head is incredibly tough, but if you even slightly hit the tail it shatters into glass dust. Pretty sure you could have a lot of fun playing with those.
Pablo Gomez it wasn't a perfect vacuum, and also it was resting on the glass, which provided as a placement medium instead of air. All sound is is air molecules vibrating. Instead of air, the glass vibrated, transmitting the sound to the GoPro.
It would take less force to shatter the jar if you hit it with the claw side of the hammer. The flat side spreads out the force the claw would concentrate it into a much smaller area, making the force/unit area skyrocket.
lol when he said "let try from 6 inches" and im all cringing like bro thats like 12 inches thank you very much, then he redeems himself with "well that was more like a foot" happy xDD
CAKEMONSTER3000 depending on the mass of the nitrogen the metal might solidify, what will surely happen though is thar the nitrogen will boil violently expanding (almost exploding)
Got an idea, put liquid nitrogen and marshmallows in a vacuum chamber so the marshmallows freeze when they expand and what happens when they shrink frozen
There was definitely a pressure wave when the chamber was dropped. It went completely flat, sucking everything inwards you can still see the camera shake. Nothing on the ground moves during either time the camera moved but they’re in the second. You can actually see the pressure wave the only way to really tell that the camera moves is by looking at the background you’ll see it’s slightly shaky.
Grant, you should try and make a silicone mold of an old vinyl record and fill the mold with epoxy or resin or something and see if it sounds the same
XxAcidRainxX that would be cool
XxAcidRainxX didint you alredy say that on other video?
Really, Grant, you should really try this guy's idea, it's pretty cool, and I'm sure other people would like to see it.
XxAcidRainxX YASSS

Cool test. I've wondered how bad those jars would pop under vacuum
+NightHawkInLight Thanks Ben!
can you put silicone into liquid nitrogen and see what happens?
That was sweet!!
NightHawkInLight bro ur epic
This brings some interesting ideas to mind.

The past 5 vids were vacuum chamber videos, I'd enjoy some more variety!
Henri_the_fry_guy some people keep the same idea for more than five episodes.Be happy he doesn't keep it the same for every episode.Plus these are questions by fans.
Henri_the_fry_guy well, he did just destroy them...
Like my comment then!
Nooo! I love is vacuum chamber videos!
Put bubble wrap in a vacuum that would be so cool
Like if u agree so he can see
itll just pop not very exciting
Ren_posted that would be so cool

johnnyq90 hey dude
Yes!
Grant Thompson - "The King of Random" hi Grant, I love your videos
Grant Thompson - "The King of Random" hi grant! How are you
you guys should do a collab video with the SLO Mo guys! I’d LOVE to see high def high slow mo of your vacuums being broken!
How did the gopro record sound in the vacuum chamber?
Sound doesn't travel in a vacuum.
You're right, it was the audio from my microphone, not from the GoPro. I checked the original footage and there is no sound from the GoPro. Only the vibrations from the internal microphone when the jar is hit.
Valdemar Åberg that were recording the sound with re other camera as it was his mic picking up the sound not the go pro.
It doesn't work like that.
Actually, there is only no sound in a perfect vacuum which is impossible to create.
Do something with the slo mo guys
they're all the way over here in england though! that's quite a long flight don'cha know

What would oobleck look like in a vacuum chamber?
So am I the only one that thought this didn't really look any different than breaking glass with no vacuum chamber?
i wonder if that should also have been in the video.
Kevin Allen me too
well.. the sounnd surely isdifferent.. and i think that if there were no vaccum it probably would be less jumpy
He should definitely demonstrate whether the vacuum makes an appreciable difference to how much force is required to break it, i.e., do we really need to take extra precautions?
Without the pressure it would probably just crack instead of the whole jar shattering all at once
put a bluetooth speaker with playing music in the vacuum chamber!!
Wout That could be interesting since sound needs a medium to be able to travel, like air or water.
Wout wouldnt it just get quieter
DomoTimba Yes, since there wouldn't be a medium for the soundwaves there would be no sound inside at all.
Owgla since it isn't a perfect vacuum you might see some transfer of sound. A speaker can't be completely suspended without magnets, so vibration may be transmitted through the chamber as well. Would be interesting to see how much sound is transmitted.
You should put water in the jar and put a waterspeaker speaker in it

If you put vacuum chamber into the water, will it float or will it sink?

my guess is that it would sink. The air is what allows it to float because the air is less dense than the water. take away the air and you only have the weight of the glass jar, wich would then sink.

What would happen if you tried to use a hair dryer in a vacuum chamber?
Or anything that sucks air to work
It would just spin the motor and probably burn out since no air would be cooling the motor as it spins.
P Sylar itll spin the fan inside, without any effect.
soulseeker3194 but the fan is shaped a certain way to blow air so what if there is no air to blow would the fan move?

Can you put non-Newtonian fluid into the vacuum chamber?
Dylan Peters he did it with slime
Not the same thing.
Dylan Peters like a gummy pokeball?

What would happen if you put Shaving Cream in a Vacuum Chamber because Shaving cream is made of millions of tiny bubbles?
it would expand....
Hey grant I was just drinking some soda and I was wondering what would happen if you put carbonated drinks in a vacuum chamber?
Blizzard exists probably because it's basically water
Noah Bowers it will go flat
dontDrop_That what if the soda isn't opened?
It will EXPLODE if the can breaks. Soda has tons of molecules of CO2 dissolved in it. As the pressure decreases on the outside, the aluminum can might not be able to hold it all in.
Noah Bowers it would go flat as flat as any soda can get
Could you put rainbow slime into the pokeball molds and then put them in liquid nitrogen to get a solid rainbow pokeball?
TdogRocks24 it wouldn't stay solid for long
Make chocolate and gummy king of randoms logo plz ! ;)

put a bag of chips in the vacuum chamber?
MO Mules too much air in the bag, it's impossible to take out a large amount of air.
It can't get much bigger cause of the material, it'll explode IDK wtf you're saying Teamblubz
Teamblubz he did it
I guess you could say it was... *Hammer Time*
Grant Thompson -"The King of Random" you should see how mercury reacts in a vacuum chamber
4tify Life it just freezes. nitrogen is pretty inert.
frozen mercury would be a pretty cool experiment
would it be like a metal?
4tify Life Check out Taofledermaus' videos on frozen murcury
You should put water in the vacuum chamber and try to see if you can make ice without air pockets.
Also your videos are awesome
Check my videos, I freeze water in a vacuum BUT it's not clear, however it was tap water.
TRY POURING LIQUID NITROGEN ON MOLTEN ALUMINUM
JuliaG109 that's what I commented
JuliaG109 no in a vacuum chamber
Nah, I bet the aluminum would stay molten. I think it takes a lot more energy to cool metal than to heat nitrogen.
Metals typically have a very low specific heat, lower than liquids, so Tydekan is right.
back yard scientist did it, not as cool as you think
put dough in a vacuum chamber and see if it can make bread without air bubbles
ItsAlex Then its dough rock, not bread.
Bread is supposed to be eatable

What would a can of soda do in a vacuum chamber?
Nothing if its not open
It would explode since unopened cans of soda are underpressure so in a vaccum with no atmosphere to prevent expansion of the bottle the bottle will expande and eventually burst
@@divine308 it's only a difference of about 14 psi to the can, well within it's limits. I predict the can would be fine

How does the microphone on the gopro pick up sound if sound waves don't travel in a vacuum? +TheKingofRandom
Pablo Gomez it wasn't a perfect vacuum, and also it was resting on the glass, which provided as a placement medium instead of air. All sound is is air molecules vibrating. Instead of air, the glass vibrated, transmitting the sound to the GoPro.
what if the GoPro was held by a string instead? ;)
then some vibration would travel through the string from the glass
Pablo Gomez the vibration of the glass
Pablo Gomez there's still some gas inside also the camera is touching the glass which will vibrate.
