One of my dearest friends lost his wife to cancer. I hadn't seen him in over a year. We listened to this song in the car after playing music together as he told me about his wife's passing. This song will always conjure up very profound feelings of love and loss for me.

It was years before I could listen to Kate Rusby;s version because it was the last song I heard before I carried my beloved cattle dog in a box from the vet office. He was not named Riley but he may have been he was so good to the end of his life. I miss him so much.
