Those streets are so dang clean despite the fact that hundreds of thousands probably cross them everyday! I really hope I can get to Tokyo one day, the city seems super fascinating!
The graphics in this Yakuza game are insaaaane! Just kidding, beautiful video man. I wonder what it would be like to roam Tokyo now & then, thank you for letting us peek!
This is what a vibrant city looks and feels like. The hustling and bustling of people outside with a purpose to be someplace relevant. You can feel the positivity with their smiles and laughter in the background as he walks by. You may not notice this but seeing a vast majority of people using transparent umbrellas is a sign that they are mindful of people around them and they 're comfortable and don't mind being seen by others.
I used to go anime shopping in Shinjuku in the 90's. So much fun walking around from shop to shop. Haven't been in Japan since and my traveling friend and guide passed away a few years ago. Would love to visit at least one more time. Maybe someday. In the meantime, I guess these wonderful videos will have to do. Thanks for making them.
This is the only place I’ve been to outside the US. I spent 2.5 weeks in Shinjuku in 2016 and did not want to come home. I want to visit another country soon, but I’d really just rather go back to Japan for every travel itch I have.
Just came back and my first night was in shinjuku. Such a stimulating and fascinating place! It was so cool to walk around at 2am feeling completely safe compared to American cities. Can’t wait to visit again 😊
That was fantastic, and the rain really added to the atmosphere. I've been to the Akihabara but mostly in the daytime so I didn't get this kind of experience. There is an aesthetic to this that just hits you in a primal way...
This latest Cyberpunk 2077 patch really did the trick, didn't it? Ray tracing now looks amazing!... :) But seriously: apart from having a complete Cyberpunk flashback while watching the video, thank you for the excellent and amazing quality clip: it really made me feel I'm there.
The area in the first 10m of the video is called Kabikicho and it's a very bad place, it's full of criminals, yakuza and prostitutes. Tourists rarely see the problems because either a) they can't understand the language or b) they're not out past midnight c) it happens inside establishments that foreigners don't/can't see. I live in the area and have seen everything from young girls (underage) soliciting men, people taking hard drugs, people beating others shitless, people having meltdowns (this one is the one I'm guilty of), scammers preying on everyone, and more. It's also not really clean like people say it is after midnight. Lots of rubbish, vomit and people passed out. Tokyo is normally a lovely, quiet, calm, clean city but Kabukicho is not. Most Japanese who know Kabukicho say the same thing.
Almost every other travel destination on the planet: I hope it isn’t raining Tokyo: please let it rain 🌧️ The reflections of all the neon lights is breathtaking
Man I miss doing this in Japan at midnight , especially the late night walks to go get a packet of Mevuis and some food from the family mart need to go again soon
Thanks for the video, I was there last week and spent a week in Shinjuku/Kabukicho and found it to be an amazing place for a photographer. Only thing I was missing was rain, I was desperate for rain for some reflections and amazing photos but never mind. Maybe I'll have to go back another time. One of the reasons I went was the book TO:KY:00 by Liam Wong who is a photographer who made some amazing shots in the city. Thanks for the video it brings back some amazing memories... Also, as I was walking around at 2,3 or 4 am I felt really safe and never once felt threatened by anybody. Sure there was a little bit of interruptions by the barkers but easily ignored and waved away, recommend it to anybody!!
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. Wishing you the best on your future trip and hopefully this time it'll rain for the perfect shot! 👍🏻
economy pundits aside, japan will never fail or collapse almost a million people come to just experience a virtual walk through a japanese city to feel comfort the japanese culture is favored and adored enough now that japan as a country can literally not fall ever again, unless they conform so much to the rest of the world that they lose their uniqueness
They don't have race wars becauee all Japanese belong to the Yamato clan. They don't like any other race except their own. They donr like Cbinese, Korean, Vietnamese, not even mixed parentage children. So or course they dinr have race wars. In the 1980s, American executives sent to work in Jaoan were shocked and offended to find department stores with "picanniny" dolls, old racist dolls of blacks with big noses, white teeth, or bone through the noses, or eatinf a bif slice of watermelon. The Japanese thought they were so cute. That was so racist they couldn't even understand how offensive that was. If you live there, just don't be black. You won't notice the racism for a while because you don't speak the language. But it is there and pervasive.
I like that their rain umbrella is see-through, very practical for safety so the users can still see while covering their upper body from the rain. Japan is the most advanced country with regards to culture, etiquette, and technology.

As you can see in the video, Shinjuku is one of the dirtiest areas in Tokyo. As a Japanese, I don't understand why foreigners visit here so much.
