Googled half remembered lyrics from June TCM lead me here. Only sorry I hadn't heard the song four years ago when released, music industry as it is. Worth the wait though, many thanks.
Same here. Ha! I thought it was just me. Many of TCM's music snippets grab my interest. Some are original others are oddities (those where are you never heard the song or of the artist before)
even though i discovered this song only after my beloved dad passed, the moment i heard it -- well, it killed me. and it still kills me. songs have a way of bringing one back to the exact moments of our lives with the feelings back then still perfectly intact. for me, this is one of most perfect songs about long term grief, knowing you are powerless to alter the course, and thus have no ability to change the outcome. the kind of grief in which you deep down sense the truth, ignore it, and work to keep hope alive: the kind where family asks you "do you think he will come come?" i am brought to tears each time i hear this song. i still listen to it because it brings back the days and months i spent with dad in hospital. all the words to this song are perfect but this captures it all: "don't you know know, i have seen the ending. still i cannot look away." and i never did, dad. man. sorry to be a downer. transcendent song. hits everyone differently.
This is the first song I heard from ALT, 2016 prob Franklin, TN. @lightning100 Had to pull off the road, was so powerful in my soul and heart. Transformative.
Yes, came here via TCM. Song style and sound reminds of The Beatles of mid to late '60s. After a few million songs in mankind's history it is hard not to emulate (NOT necessarily to plagiarize) someone else's music style, even if by accident. Bottom line, I definitely like this one by AL Tasjan. Thank you NWR for bringing it here.
This song accompanied THE BEST TCM monthly teaser ever. I associate it with the joy, comfort, and emotional connection I found in movies over the past year.
Just saw the song on TCM and had to immediately track it down by a few words of the lyrics and had to buy it on iTunes. Amazing song. Thank you Aaron and TCM. Straight to the top of my playlist.
1. Great song. Bravo! It reminds me "Free as a bird" by The Beatles, also some songs by G. Harrison. 2. Special thanks to my DVR and TCM, otherwise I would miss this song.
Heard this on TCM and perked up. Did some research and ordered his CD. Never heard of the dude, but this is a great song and I'm hoping the CD is as well.
If the rest of his next October "Silver Tears" album has the same level of this song.. well we are talking bout Best Americana/ POP songwriting of the year. This track is soooo Lennonesque. Three solo albums, three sure masterpieces. If you have the lucky chance to get or find a copy fronting the Madison Square Gardeners, hold it tight cos that record is another musical treasure. Well, this guy is always PURE GENIUS.
This song is incredible. The tune itself sounds like Lennon/McCartney at their finest, circa "Sgt. Pepper"... And the production is reminiscent of Phil Spector's "wall of sound".... Just a phenomenal release, overall. Keep it up, ALT...Nashville is proud!
Someone said this guy opened for saint Paul and the broken bones. Paul used to play in my brothers living room. He was dating my neice at the time. Great song thanks t. C. M.
Just excellent - and I would've never known of its existence if it weren't for the fact that the Rough Trade store in Brooklyn has it on a listening station. Talent like this has to be advertised!
This video is PERFECT. Been following this gemstone human since 2012 - he's such a great songwriter and incredible performer. ALT is next level greatness! Love this song!
I gave you the benefit of the doubt and thumbed you up because Daniel Romano is awesome, but after replaying it, I don't know how you could possibly tell from just that little snippet.
Song is on repeat for me right now. I see in some comments I'm not the only one who got a George Harrison vibe from the vocals. I'd add Beatles in general musically, from the drumming to the harmonies to the piano and background embellishes in the chorus. I'm also hearing some Tom Petty in the verse harmonies, and the happily unexpected 3-note piano step-up that occurs twice in the chorus evokes Live and Let Die by Wings for me.
Thanks for your voicemail the other night. Right now you are the most brilliant artist I have known in the last years. I am keeping a close eye on you. Coming to Kansas City anytime soon?
Verse 1 Watch the day unfold in little movies With silver tears that sparkle from my eyes I catch myself and turn to toughen up But it hurts too much to try Watching my reflection in the window In the afternoon gold beaming sun One more scene fades out in black and white Still another has begun [Chorus] But you don’t know I have seen the ending Still I can not look away Don’t you know all of this pretending Is just a little movie that we play Verse 2 You could play a tune for all your troubles And I will help remind you of the words Angels born in hell will sing our praises Like this broken song deserves [Chorus] Sunday sun please take me down I want to hear that lonesome sound
A surveiller !
Aaron in his crazy get up pops up suddenly like the scary clown in that Steven King story. But then you realize it's the world that's scary, not Aaron. Kind of a weird video - but I love the song!
this kid graduated from my high school two years after me, if he ends up like Tom Petty I'm telling everyone we were best friends lol this song is all time
This dude is unique. Sheryl Crowe heard this song while in a Starbucks...shazamed it, and told her agent to find this guy. He has been opening for her. Should be the opposite.
TCM Classic Movies brought me here!!!
Same here!
Thank you TCM for Introducing me to them.
Such an incredible song. Mixes Beatles and Elliot Smith flawlessly
and Tom Petty
Just heard this on TCM a few days ago and fell in love with the song and the artist. Can't wait to hear more.
Me too! I thought it was an older song.
Same here!
Why does this look and feel like home! Thanks, TCM.
This caught my ear groom a clip in tv ad for TCM movies and Google led me here...ultravox , Bryan ferry esque
@MN R no they didn't
@MN R hmm. Does sound a little like free as a bird from the anthology
I don't know where you got that idea, but I seriously doubt that.

What a great song Pepper/Magical Mystery Tour vibes with a bit of Michael Penn thrown in. Love the video too...
Just heard this song on Turner Classic Movie Channel & was absolutely captivated! Thanks to my Shazam app, here I am!
Haha same!!
1st place I heard it too. Thought it was a lost Beattles
CAPTIVATED!! That’s the word. ❤❤

Great song n singer!! Wow! Why haven’t I heard of him before??? He is awesome 👏👏🙏🙏💕💕✨✨🌺🌺🌷🌷🌷👍
Great Song, Great Production - in a better world it should be a massive hit.
For years, this song has played in my head as I've lain insomniacal, trying to sleep. I'm grateful for it.
Should be a huge hit! Love it!
This is the first song I heard from ALT, 2016 prob Franklin, TN. @lightning100 Had to pull off the road, was so powerful in my soul and heart. Transformative.
I love this song. It haunts both my waking hours and dreams.
Rock on!

A fabulous, powerful song.
This song accompanied THE BEST TCM monthly teaser ever. I associate it with the joy, comfort, and emotional connection I found in movies over the past year.
Thank you TCM for the introduction to a great song and at least for me, a new artist.
Just saw the song on TCM and had to immediately track it down by a few words of the lyrics and had to buy it on iTunes. Amazing song. Thank you Aaron and TCM. Straight to the top of my playlist.
Nice to read that other folks were drawn by this song while watching the TCM commercial. I love it and google brought me here!!
This song enters my heart and stays there!
I can't get enough of this song, and the video is relentlessly perfect!
Fantastic social commentary. Smart and witty, but dark. I love it.
Aaron Lee Tasjan, Silver Tears.... hope that many people on the planet will enjoy this masterpiece of an album
This was my top song of 2021 per Spotify wrapped. Criminally underrated, keep up the good work!
Tasjan! Tasjan! Tasjan!
Man, I had good taste back in 2021
1. Great song. Bravo! It reminds me "Free as a bird" by The Beatles, also some songs by G. Harrison. 2. Special thanks to my DVR and TCM, otherwise I would miss this song.
This is so like a lost George Harrison classic. Fantastic tune!
Seen them open for Social D.
They were incredible.
This song is flickering in my head all morning!! Kudos
Heard this on TCM and perked up. Did some research and ordered his CD. Never heard of the dude, but this is a great song and I'm hoping the CD is as well.
Wow, what a great song. The opening verse is devastating.
If John Lennon and Father John Misty had a baby this would be him.
If the rest of his next October "Silver Tears" album has the same level of this song.. well we are talking bout Best Americana/ POP songwriting of the year.

I definitely hear John Lennon circa Strawberry Fields and I Am the Walrus. But I hear more George Martin than Phil Spector.
There's some Elliott Smith in there, too. Also, reminds me a bit of that Breaking Bad song by Alexander, "Truth."
I also hear bits that remind me of David Bowie, and the synthesizer definitely gives me some Sixto Rodriguez vibes.
I immediately thought of Phil Spector when I heard this first time. And Jeff Lynne's ELO.
I definitely feel more of a Bowie vibe than the Beatles.
Great songs,Great Albums,Great guitar. Thanks for being great
Someone said this guy opened for saint Paul and the broken bones. Paul used to play in my brothers living room. He was dating my neice at the time. Great song thanks t. C. M.
Caught this on WTMD in Baltimore. Love it.
#9 on WTMD's top 89 for the year - lots of fans here for ALT
So Beatlesque I had to track it down. I was 14 when "I want to hold your hand" debutedededed? hit America
Just excellent - and I would've never known of its existence if it weren't for the fact that the Rough Trade store in Brooklyn has it on a listening station. Talent like this has to be advertised!
And the Beatles are still influencing music over half a century later. How beautiful that is.
my thoughts too
And they'll be saying the same thing in another fifty years.
Just a perfect song.
Thank you TCM !! Thank you Aaron !
This video is PERFECT. Been following this gemstone human since 2012 - he's such a great songwriter and incredible performer. ALT is next level greatness! Love this song!
Me encanta esta canción, tiene un muy buen estilo
Jesus...this is perfection. ♥️♥️♥️
Great song! And the video starts with Daniel Romano´s song "Middle Child" in the background! Fabulous!
I gave you the benefit of the doubt and thumbed you up because Daniel Romano is awesome, but after replaying it, I don't know how you could possibly tell from just that little snippet.
Just Awesome!! Listening to it on the radio right now (KCSN 88.5) very Beatlesque
I, too, heard the song on TCM - great tune, I really like the artist!! TCM finds the greatest tunes!! Great song!
Song is on repeat for me right now. I see in some comments I'm not the only one who got a George Harrison vibe from the vocals. I heard this on KCSN and it's reminisce of a beautiful Beatles song. Simply a grrrreat song from Aaron
Brilliant! Thanks, TCM!
Probably the best song I've ever heard ...

Ahhh, real pop music.
Nailed it!! I love this so much! xox
Thanks for your voicemail the other night. Right now you are the most brilliant artist I have known in the last years. I am keeping a close eye on you. Coming to Kansas City anytime soon?
Que música!
Got some tix to see him open for St. Paul and the Broken Bones. I didn't know who he was, so I came here to check him out. Nice suit and shoes!
It blows my mind that this is where the music industry is. A brilliant psych pop song will just fall into the oblivion, what’s next?
The Beatles combined with Roy Orbison..
Lovely
i love that he live 40ish mins from me and used the carousel inside our local mall hahaha
Verse 1
Watch the day unfold in little movies
With silver tears that sparkle from my eyes
I catch myself and turn to toughen up
But it hurts too much to try
Watching my reflection in the window
In the afternoon gold beaming sun
One more scene fades out in black and white
Still another has begun
[Chorus]
But you don’t know I have seen the ending
Still I can not look away
Don’t you know all of this pretending
Is just a little movie that we play
Verse 2
You could play a tune for all your troubles
And I will help remind you of the words
Angels born in hell will sing our praises
Like this broken song deserves
[Chorus]
Sunday sun please take me down
I want to hear that lonesome sound
What a beautiful piece! I hear McCartney-Lennon. Why is this not a massive hit?
2-51 minute this is MIND GAMES-JOHN LENNON .GREAT en YEAH YEAH MERCI .
anyone else getting vibes of David Bowie's "Space Oddity" in this?
did jeff lynne produce this? lol. great stuff.

The Beatles, Elton John, ELO, yah, this guy was born too late...I love this.
Aaron in his crazy get up pops up suddenly like the scary clown in that Steven King story. But then you realize it's the world that's scary, not Aaron. Kind of a weird video - but I love the song!
Is that buffalo NY?
So I cant comment on the actual tcm video of this song, but who is the blonde at 0:53, right before Dean. I cant place the face??? Its killing me!!!
That's what I was thinking lol
Senator R. Stevie Moore's Madison Square Shopping Center circa 1966. WWW = What Went Wrong?
is R Stevie Moore an ALT fan? RSM the king of Lo Fi. ALT sounding very polished on this track. Both have Nashville in common these days.
Dig it!
this kid graduated from my high school two years after me, if he ends up like Tom Petty I'm telling everyone we were best friends lol this song is all time
Jeff Bowen me too what's up man lol
Be Good bond theme
Beck melodies, also...
As my good friend mark said, if that is what takes it takes dose all of Nashville with LSD...
I love you.
End of story
TCM brought me here
