Watching for the first time and praying for the safety of Mrs. Reed and her family and neighbors in Florida.

We started a "real" latin course with my oldest last year, and it's magical! I always wanted to learn latin myself because I've always loved etymology, and I knew I'd add it for my kids. My daughter has really enjoyed it because she LOVES finding the latin roots and loves deciphering "hard" words in older books - she is so proud when she can figure out the word based off of its latin root. My girls decided they wanted to learn koine greek this year - we'll see how it goes. I only learned french 😅

Ooh Latin and Greek! How fantastic. Those two will widen their worlds of religion and philosophy!

I love her enthusiasm for the language. It makes me excited to add it into our homeschool in the later years without feeling an enormous amount of pressure or anxiety about it. Great interview! 😄

Awesome interview! I love Ambleside Schools International! I toured a school here in MI and attended one of their 3-day internships - AMAZING!! Mr. St. Cyr was a delight to meet and glean from. Angela, does your school in FL teach Latin?

Thank you for your kind words! Our school here in Florida does not currently offer Latin. When I had the opportunity to talk with Maryellen St. Cyr, I asked her why Latin was not a part of ASI’s curriculum offerings. She acknowledged the very real difficulty of obtaining and retaining Latin teachers that would ensure the stability and longevity of a Latin program. She said they have occasionally had an individual member school offer Latin, but that was rare and hard to sustain. However, my younger children have been asking when they’ll get their turn at Latin, so I am hopeful, strategizing how I might offer Latin at the school in some capacity. We’ll see!

Tracy Lee Simons is the godson of Sheldon Vanauken, and Sheldon is the godson of Peter Kreeft.

Interesting! What do you mean when you say Sheldon is the godson of Peter Kreeft? Did he convert and choose him as a sponsor? Isn’t Peter kreeft younger?
