  • In this workshop we explore the challenges and opportunities of evaluating the impact of climate assemblies with the aim of revising KNOCA’s Impact Evaluation Framework (IEF 1.0).
The framework is created by the Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformations (CAST) in collaboration with the Knowledge Network on Climate Assemblies (KNOCA) in early 2022. It aims to identify the diversity of potential impacts of climate assemblies and the challenges and opportunities of evaluating these impacts.
At the workshop Christina Demski and Stuart Capstick, Deputy Directors at CAST, present the rationale behind IEF1.0 and key elements, including typology of impacts.
The presentation is followed by four critical perspectives:
    1) José Luis Fernández Martínez (Postdoctoral researcher, Spanish National Research Council (CSIC)) on how to make it work: The practitioner’s perspective.
    2) Nicole Armos (Manager of Knowledge & Practice, Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue) on Why, for whom, to what end? On equity and working with assembly members.
    3) Ramon van der Does (PhD researcher, UCLouvain) on understanding impact pathways and the systems climate assemblies operate within.
    4) Julien Vrydagh (Postdoctoral fellow, University of Stuttgart) on Public legitimacy and pitfalls
The workshop is aimed particularly at practitioners, evaluators and researchers interested in understanding the impact of climate assemblies.
