Erik as always a great review and thanks for mentioning the sacrifice that soldiers made during the Vietnam war . As far as the Willard goes fantastic watch 👍🏻
Thanks so much for the kind words, much appreciated! Also, thanks for watching.
Great review of the watch. Good job, Erik!
Thanks for the compliment and thanks for watching!
Don’t buy the watch for accuracy, utter nonsense. This watch movement it very accurate. Usual UA-cam rubbish
Great review! I have serval Willard’s. Love them all!
Wish I had several! Thanks for watching.
The price is very reasonable for what you get.
Agree as it really is a great watch! Thanks for watching and commenting.
The main reason Seiko's have a tendency to keep running is the loose tolerances, much the same as a old car with a low compression engine, poor fuel economy, but they keep on turning over.
Mine is +5 seconds a week.
Thats great. Sometimes it happens. Seiko Lottery. Thanks for watching.
I've been getting -3 seconds a week IF I wear it every day. Unfortunately if I don't wear it for one day I lose about 15 seconds. Great review btw.
I've heard about misaligned bezels and debates about the movement' accuracy. Peter Kotsa made a comparison with a 6105 and i'm very unimpressed. For $1000-plus it's a no-go for me.
What they don't prepare you for is the incessant us of _Fortunate Son_ ...
I have in my collection a Tissot, a Bauhaus inspired Sternglas, a Citizen Promaster NY0040 that was adopted by the Italian Navy...all perfectly great watches...but when I got my SRPE93 Turtle and put it on, it just feels right. Like you said, you either bond with it or you don't. There's just something about a Seiko.
Yeah, feels great on! Thanks for watching.
Of course Seiko has great lume.. They as with everything else are developing it!😅
I am a lifelong seiko guy (and a marine brat), I started with this watch as a kid but in fairness the chinese willard has a seiko movement better lume and was barely half a hundo
Yeah, they make some good ones and have Seiko NH Movements to boot! Thanks for watching.
Parris Island, SC.
Thanks for keeping it real. Interesting bit of history there. Incredible that the kid joined the Marines at such a young age. Great video again!
Yes, incredible and tragic! Thanks for watching.
The same is true about many automatic movements and Seiko are no exception. I have several 4R36 and 6R35 movements as well as 7S26 fives. My Alpinist was regulated at the last service but is very inconsistent, to the tune of -12 seconds one day and +5 the next. The best I own have been the 4R35 and 4R57 movements. They keep consistently to 5 seconds per day. Short of a Grand Seiko, few are better.
Yeah, can be hit or miss. Thanks for watching.
So... Richard Gere somehow got younger and is reviewing watches as a hobby, huh? Just kidding, man : ) Great work on the channel. Cheers!
Ill take that. Thanks for watching.
I just got one second hand and sadly it’s been stopping every few days even after wearing for 12 hrs or being fully wound. 😔 not even sure if it’s still under warranty as the card is blank.
@@Crotone79 Thats strange but you should take to a Seiko Repair Center as not much to fix. Thanks for watching.
@@erikkinginnyc going to have someone service it soon because I really love the watch.
@@Crotone79 Tou should. You should know that Seiko Service is usually really cheap by Seiko. Good luck.
Great review Erik! Surprised you don’t have 20k+ subs.
Thanks and will get there! Thanks for the help watching!!
Love the watch, but out of my price range. I wound up (no pun intended) buying a Heimdallr Sharky homage. I was surprised at how well made it is.
Yes, it is and Seiko Movements! Thanks for watching.
Does the keeper dig in your skin? I got the SBDC133/SPB207 recently and tried the green strap and the keeper was a bit annoying so I went back to the steel bracelet.
I heard that but don't have the problem at all. Thanks for watching.
Excellent video and review! Thank you. Liked and subscribed in a heartbeat.
@@edteach3r Thanks so much for the kind words and of course for watching.
They should’ve just stuck a NH35 movement and kept the price down. Beautiful watch just not worth the greedy Seiko price.
I like your accuracy comments, everyone has a phone nearby and it gives you one more reason to take it off and dial it in while admiring it.😊
Couldn't agree more. Thanks for watching.
Nice post black would be my fav….tropical strap nice.
I like Tropic Straps as well and have many. Thanks for watching.!
Seiko -
Under delivers and over prices. SOP
Thats true. For what your getting - movement etc. you can find micros that offer more for less. Its the heritage ....you pay for. Thanks for watching.
is bezel made ceramic insert material?
@@bongdudugenio9947 No, its just aluminum. Thanks for watching.
Just got one ☝️ absolutely savage bit of kit
Agree, thanks for watching.
🔥🔥🔥
Beautiful, Beautiful Watch.
That it is! Thanks for watching.
What color is the lume?
@@jameswong6590 green and amazing as always with Seiko. Thanks for watching.
@@erikkinginnyc thanks
It's another cash in by Seiko. Due to the popularity trending of the Willard watch, Seiko are pricing these out of the market. Not to mention the ever present QC issues with alignment. For the money they are poor value for the actual watch they are. Much better value and quality can be had for far less money with the microbrands like San Martin.
I owned an original Captain Willard back in the 1970's . No watchmaker could make that damn thing keep accurate time. Fast forward several decades and Seiko still can't make an accurate watch. Ridiculous.
@@anthonysarno5503 You're right. Unless you get into the high end Prospex 8L etc line (expensive!) they just dont perform. Thanks for watching.
Where can I get this watch and how much
Youn can get on Amazon here:

But can get better deals elsewhere. If you don't mind not getting factory warranty, I would try Jomashop. Additionally, find used on Chron24.....
Thanks Erik I will let you in a secret I Don't Actually want this watch for telling time I just wanted because it's cool and i am into Vietnam war history
@@DaleGribbletheCat Me too ad not the best movement but very cool watch with History. Thanks for watching
Why did they make it smaller? Crazy that Rdunae r2x does a better 6105 than homage than Seiko
Have to admit that its closer to original and Seiko movement. Thanks for watching.
I like your Willard and I had thought about getting this one but picked the SLA063, which the store also had and it’s limited to only 500pcs. I felt a bit guilty for buying it at first for its more than double the price, but I picked it up for $2500 net, 600 less the $3100 retail. I do appreciate the accuracy of its 8L35 movement, which is on par with my +20yr old chronometer Seamaster. What I least like about it is the difficulty of unscrewing the crown, for being fully shrouded by the case. I have gotten compliments from friends commenting that it looks like a very exquisite Seiko lol.
Congratulations on an amazing watch. Absolutely love the 8L35! Thanks so much for watching.
I agree with your knowing immediately if you click with a watch on not when putting it on your wrist.
Great review!
Yup, just know! Thanks for watching...
What I have bought of AliExpress watches tend to have lume that blows Seiko out of the water, doesn't matter if it's blue or green.
With Seiko today you pay for the brand more than anything, not saying it's anything wrong with that, I do daily a Seiko.
Nice watch, keep it up 👍🏻
@@Anirossa Thanks so much for watching.
