Women are way more powerful than the world will ever give us permission to be.
THANK YOU - AHO!!!
As an AACS Woman, (African-America Cherokee Seminole) I thank you for this!!!
5:03 Not to take away from the topic but we have this in Bengali too: ‘Chhoto Ma’ (literally ‘small mother’) and ‘Bado Ma’ (literally ‘big mother’)
Don’t forget about Yalitza Aparicio in Roma! First Native/Indigenous American woman to be nominated!
Yes!
Thank you so much for this series.
Love it love it! I pray this continues and we get to see many more awesome Native-made movies and shows.
I hope more Native Women get the spotlight in the upcoming years. I’m enjoying the feminine energy that seems to be building momentum.
thankyou for teaching! amazing episode lots of media i need to watch!
Nice to know there’s a semblance of an antidote to all the Spaghetti Westerns we bought into wholesale.
7:36 In my case, my mom and my grandfather read a lot of Westerns. Also, they only showed Westerns at my mom’s school because they didn’t have ‘intimate’ scenes and were deemed child-friendly.
This was an awesome episode! I would love to see Cheyenne do long-form episodes that look at film thru a more critical lens.
1:48 OH I just read news about this! This is awesome.
It is fabulous to see Indigenous women taking ownership and telling their own stories in cinema at last.
Because I study old forms of indigenous culture - like pre-1860s - I sometimes think about the class clown type on a hunt being delightful and insufferable; the quiet moments at a favorite view; and trying to sleep in because your neighbor's baby was loud all night. The basic humanity does come through sometimes, even in the dry and often problematic ethnographies, but a lot of the time it's just me filling in the blanks.
Stellar
Resident Alien is a sci fi show that has Native representation. It's also good if you like quirky sci fi comedy, which is very niche.
Don’t forget the most recent season of True Detective!

Great series!
great video. Fancy Dance sounds a lot like Grass Dancer writtern by Susan Power. Looking forward to seeing it.
KOFM really left with zero Oscars :/

Lily Gladstone got robbed at the Oscar's.
THAT'S WHY I DIDN'T BOTHER TO WATCH THE OSCARS!!!
