- Dame Cleo Laine DBE (born Clementine Dinah Bullock; 28 October 1927) is an English jazz and pop singer and an actress, known for her scat singing and for her vocal range. Though her natural range is that of a contralto, she is able to produce a G above high C, giving her an overall compass of well over three octaves. Laine is the only female performer to have received Grammy nominations in the jazz, popular and classical music categories. She is the widow of jazz composer and musician Sir John Dankworth.

Used to have this version on an album. Thanks UA-cam for finding it for me again. The unparalleled Cleo Laine.
THE MAGNIFICENT CLEO LAINE !!!
Magnifique!!!
Probably UK'S GREATEST FEMALE SINGER... BRAVO
No 'probably' about it...
She is a natural mezzo, not a contralto. She can imitate a contralto but her tessitura is very audibly mezzo.
Get a life dog....
There is nothing like a Dame. Cleo Laine Lady Dankworth. Best regards. RIP Johnnie Dankworth.
Perfection! ❤
This is Class..out of this world!!
Posted this video to Facebook and got a 24 hour suspension 😂
Had a strong influence on Sting...
With all respect, Sting shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath (pardon the pun!) as Cleo Laine.
@@desbrowne1900 ...Why is that dog ? Not comparing him to a chick...just expressing what Sting himself has acknowledged....
