As much as I mourn the loss of the past at times, it’s nice to see the new gates and lights of the crossing. I especially love how you showed “before” and “after” pictures from so many different angles, including the pedestrian overpass! Excellent work!
Thanks! 😁 Yeah pedestrian lights are slowly becoming more common where there's a busy crossings. I think they added them here because the lights were at awkward positions which pedestrians may not be able to see easily
I like the layout of the crossing. Also why on earth did they put the axle weight limit sign on a new pole despite not being a prescribed sign anymore!
The crossing looks and sounds marvellous although the alarms are fairly quiet! It is quite saddening to see the last of the manually gated crossings on this line part of history now despite this. I am loving the ultra-wide perspective of the odd set-up on the side you stood with the pedestrian light and alarm separate to the wigwag! Interesting also that this has the same method of operation as East Farleigh does (the signaller has to go to the bottom of the stairs, most likely because the signal box is in no condition to have a load of new wiring installed) although it does seem a tad unecessary that they didn't move control to Aylesford Signal Box and make this a CCTV, or OD level crossing 🤔. Marvellous video, UKLCC! 👍😁🚦🚧
The most interesting thing about this crossing was that for the week before the new crossing was commissioned, both the old gates and new barrier crossing were fully operational. Usually the old one needs to be removed first. Clever design and planning allowed this reducing the closed road period.
Yeah, I noticed the road wasn't closed for that long. I didn't manage to see the crossing in its transformation period, but nice to see the old signal box still standing as I thought it would go.

Thanks! 😁 I thought the before and after looked quite cool, I tried to get the best pictures I could.
It's great so see another new, manually operated crossing installed!
Yeah, that's all the gated crossings on the Medway Valley Line gone!
I have never seen a level crossing ped light on a on one barrier esept Poole and your visit are awesome!
Plus I met the sout coast level crossing at Brockenhurst and poole

I love it when the upgrade the crossings because it makes it better
👍

The sign was here before, and they decided to put it on a new pole when the new crossing was installed which was funny.
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel Thanks for the info Jamie,

Excellent video, thanks for the update.
Thanks 😊
Nice to see the crossing finally upgraded. Also note the axle weight limit sign NR put up despite not being a prescribed sign anymore!
Yeah very surprised it was mounted back onto a new pole with an alarm and pedestrian light.

At first I honestly didn’t think this crossing was going to get upgraded, it definitely is a good upgrade in my opinion. 😎
Yeah, quite a nice crossing now 😎
