Lots of names in this one! Here's the list: dancer Giuseppe Giofrè, Dexter Mayfield, UA-camr Hannah Hart, actress Laverne Cox, singer Chester Lockhart, entertainer Todrick Hall, singer Hayley Kiyoko, actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson, lawyer Justin Mikita, singer Ciara, Netflix series Queer Eye's Fab Five (Tan France, Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown, Antoni Porowski, Jonathan Van Ness), figure skater Adam Rippon, singer Adam Lambert, television personality Ellen DeGeneres, entertainers Billy Porter and RuPaul, singer Katy Perry, and actor Ryan Reynolds. Numerous drag queens, all past contestants on RuPaul's Drag Race (Riley Knoxx being the exception), also appear in the video impersonating various female recording artists. Tatianna portrays Ariana Grande, Trinity The Tuck portrays Lady Gaga, Delta Work portrays Adele, Trinity K. Bonet portrays Cardi B, Jade Jolie portrays Taylor Swift herself, Riley Knoxx portrays Beyoncé, Adore Delano portrays Katy Perry, and A'Keria Chanel Davenport portrays Nicki Minaj.
Taylor did the following with this video: A. Called out her haters B. Publicly showed support for LGBTQ+ rights C. Squashed her rumored long time fued with Katy Perry. It was a HUGE statement. If you haven't already, check out the video for Look what you made me do. It's also a very in your face video.
Taylor also has a country version of a battle/diss track with the song “mean.” If you choose to react to it, the live version at the Grammys is the best. There’s a few country songs conceptually like a dis track. The Dixie Chicks probably have the best one but you’d have to know the history to get it.
Love "Mean". I really like the Grammy version.... she's young, and totally takes it to the critic who dissed her and did it on National Television LIVE. That was a statement. It was great. Mean won the Grammy that year. ua-cam.com/video/9SDXBz-T4HE/v-deo.html
@@Starbuck-dr7yl I looked it up because I couldn’t believe that song won an award at the Grammys, but it won two. “Best country song,” and “best solo country performance.” Suppose that just goes to show how nuts the Grammys are, and how much they love a “women confronts criticism song.”
@@mikemck4796 perhaps, its not a bad song. I'm not a country music fan, but I did look up the other nominees. I hadn't heard of the other songs, maybe they were better, I don't know. Best song I THINK, goes to best songwriting, and Taylor wrote that song alone, everyone else either didn't write it or has multiple writers and contributors. I think she is rewarded with a few points because she's a pure songwriter. Some of the other songs on the list had 5 people contributing. Maybe that's why. But, maybe I should listen to the other songs, but I haven't heard of them.
@@Starbuck-dr7yl It’s not a bad song at all. It’s pretty good in fact. However, it’s not even close to the best song on her own album, much less all of country music for the year. Her “speak now” album is her best country album, and probably her best overall. (It’s the album “mean” was the 3rd single from) I would highly recommend you check it out. If you do, I’d be shocked if you ranked mean in the top 5. A few of those songs are all timers and are what pushed her to mega stardom.
@@mikemck4796 oh no, I love speak now. Its my 3rd favorite album of hers, I think its spectacular. I'm not saying Mean is the best song, but of the songs released on that album..... it was the best country song. IMO, she doens't release her best songs usually. But, I do like the song Mean. I like Mine a bit better, and nothing compares to Enchanted. But, Mean is solid.
I paused the video so not sure if u will catch it but the song is about all the right wing politicians and anyone really who is anti the LGBT community. She is very pro love who the f#?k u love ❤🎉
"Shade never made anybody less gay" is my FAVORITE! So true... and to the beat... to boot.
God I get so genuinely happy watching non-Swifties open-mindedly react to Taylor for the first time.

That quote on the wall is from Cher. Her mom told her she needed to settle down with a rich man and she said "Mom, I am a rich man". Total boss move.
