If it makes you feel better (and to use against anti-furries), according to YMS’s comment on IH’s video, Rainfurrest was full of furries who were banned from other furry conventions. And to add to that, the organizers failed to set limits or enforce guidelines.
That doesn't make the furry fandom as a whole good. Only some of the conventions good and Rainfurrest bad.

they literally try their damn hardest to basically blacklist any terribly bad furry out of the fandom, unlike some other fandoms, at least they try as a community. they just say "oh this persons bad lmao" and move on, unlike furries, they will do their hardest to keep that person out of the fandom.
also, what they meant is rainfurrest was basically the con for bad furries to go to. because that was the only con they were allowed at.

ah yes, RF15.. the last convention i ever went to.. it was truly a horrible experience. the con staff was unorganized chaos all weekend and the registration lines were like 2-3 hours long on the first day. there was a guy who gets his rocks off to spreading HIV that most of the locals already knew of and he was creeping around the outside of the hotel all weekend because he was already banned from entering the conspace so everyone else was sketched out af whenever we had to go outside. i know exactly which people got in trouble for "hot boxing" their room and it wasn't even weed smoke; they dumped a whole bottle of vape juice into a fog machine because they're stupid.

Rainfurrest destroyed alot of peoples ideas of furries. My boyfriend thought of them very harshly before i met him, infact he was the troll type who wouldve made fun of furs, but upon meeting me he IS Fur now :>

Oh no, the sheer amount of vandalism that went on at Rainfurrest _outside_ of the fetish issue makes me think there was at least _someone_ behind this ruining the con that was _not_ a furry.
Because of course, a furry would never vandalize anything! Open your eyes, your community attracts and encourages toxic people. For a lot of you, living out your fantasy as a furry seemingly lowers your inhibitions to exactly zero; I would bet $1000 it WAS a furry that was responsible for every bit of damage done during that con. You just don't want to believe the people attracted to these cons are degenerate human (or furry?) beings.
@@ryanpenrod1859 I understand you hate(?) furries, and I know there are weird ass people in the fandom for sure. Hell, there was a recent fiasco with bodily fluids on a pizza. However I think your hate is a bit misplaced. Not every furry is toxic, and the entirety of the fandom doesn't seek to encourage toxicity. The degeneracy is a loud minority, and if you ever actually went to a furry convention, not that you'd have any reason to of course, you'd see 99% of the people there are just enjoying hanging out in costume or with people of similar interests (whether that's anthro animals, video games, etc.). It's really no different from what you'd get at an anime convention, give or take a few stereotypical people.

As a furry who lives in Seattle and is sex averse, I'm personally glad ANW is more family friendly, but I 100% wouldn't be opposed to an after dark area for those who wanted it since the fandom is generally very sexually charged. However, with how RF went, obviously ANW *has* to keep it very PG just so they're allowed to have a con here at all.
And yeah, the Sea-Tac airport where RF took place is about 30-45 minutes away from where ANW is at in Downtown Seattle, so pretty darn close by.
Not to mention the fandom is gaining more members that are minors so having those sections would look really bad

Watching this video was kinda odd and weird...
Not because it's about furries or something like that, it's because the whole Rainfurrest thing is like... The most damned dark past of Furries. Really, is awkward lol
This convention was SO bad, I rule this incident out as sabotage. For every convention that came before and after Rainfurrest, it never got THAT bad. These people were so open about what they were doing too. Like were they even ACTUAL furries or were they committed anti furs disguised as furries to do some major damage to our reputation. As with many gatherings with strangers there are always going to be some sort of altercation or two during that event, but to get to THIS level where it hits main stream media? Hotel staff kicking out furries and calling other hotels in their area to refuse service of furries. Vandalizing cars with diapers? Some that were even loaded!? Its no wonder furries are so quiet about this nightmare of a convention. I'm convinced that the majority of the attendees were all the bad apples of the fandom all in one location.
So many things happened in it that I would consider it a sabotage against furries to an extent. Gotta remember some people put gas into the vents before too putting innocent people in ambulances.
Thankfully, people now are less hateful of furries and other communities as the "hate cringe" period in the internet is dying.
@@WhiteWolfos Yeah, the "MYSTERIOUS" gas attack at Midwest Furfest back in December 2014 at the Hyatt Hotel in Rosemont. This happened around the time I was just discovering the furry fandom for the first time. I officially decided to become a furry later in 2016. (Ironically, Zootopia came out the same year so I think the film gave me a major confidence boost lol.) When I heard about what happened I was stunned. I don't care what anyone says, there's NO way it was just a coincidence that CHLORINE GAS of all things just happen to seep through some floors of the hotel and affecting the attendees on the same day that furries will be at the event. I rule that out as more than a criminal act. That incident sounds more like attempted terrorism. You hear some anti furs wishing left and right on media hoping that a furry convention gets shot up or gassed. Sick, cold and heartless f*cks. Yet they try to label US as the villains. Gladly, no one died but some poor attendees got hospitalized for nausea and dizziness. There were no suspects or charges of course. Just a found broken glass bottle containing Chlorine gas powder. I find it painfully hard to believe a fellow furry could've been behind it. Not even for like a joke, a prank or just by being drunk or something. A true furry wouldn't have done that. Plus whether you're inside or outside the fursuit, the bottom line is that its dangerous/lethal toxins and shouldn't have happened. To hate furries to the point of resorting to poisoning a whole convention of them (thousands of furries) is Inhumane and cruel. Taking hate to a whole new level. I wouldn't be so quick to think the hate is dying JUST yet. Its improved a little, but not at the rate we hope.
Some of it definitely just seemed like the generic furries lacking common sense and self control kind of thing, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few in there trying to make it worse to shut it down. Just with like the vandalizing, and property damage, that's not normal.
Antifurs wouldn't go far enough to get legitimate suits to do this. It was genuine stupidity of a portion of the community that was banned from other conventions except rainfurrest. Rainfurrest was one of the few conventions banned furries could go to

That's literally everyone in the furry community. The majority is simply doing that under the sheets and behind closed doors. And you know that they do this but pretend that this doesn't happen. The sad reality, however, is that if you keep that up, you will end up in hell. Aren't you disgusted with this community? Do you think that this is normal to have things like this? I love this reaction, as a former furry hater I feel like the video and the comments really show that most furries are just chill peeps looking for a good time like the rest of us, rainfurrest scarred a generation against furries

I attended this con for the soul purpose that it was literally my one year furry anniversary and it was MY F*CKING BIRTHDAY! After I found out all this happened after the fact because the whole time I was there I was oblivious to the whole evil scheme of the attendees destroying the Hotel until the ending ceremony I was in SHOCK to hear everything that all went down. My 1 year being a furry and this happens are you flipping serious? Yeah I was there and Yes I heard all the facts after I went home, more damages then any convention of rainfurrest combined. All hotels in the area shown in the Map Beta provided was accurate and I really wanted another Rainfurrest despite what happend this was my 3rd Furry convention I ever attended and I had so much fun. I was this regular furry, normal new and excited to have fun. But the diapers I seen people wearing was very very disturbing. I was confused to why there were so many baby furs and I honestly can say this is the weird side of furries. Turns out, Seattle is FULL of baby furs. I had no idea but they destroyed my favorite con and during my birthday. It ruined Furries reputation and I wished that I wasn't a part of that convention for what they did. I have a video of Rainfurrest on my channel and I wonder if I go back and look at it see if I can spot out anything unusual. If anyone wants to research my video to see if I missed something. But far as I was concerned it felts like a regular Furry convention to me despite the background nonsense. I couldn't believe what they did to that Hotel and I felt bad for the owners. the repairs costed more money then the Furries put into getting in the convention and then plethora more. This was unbelievable. But honestly not knowing the bad things going on made it one of the best conventions I've ever attended besides BLFC that always tops all other conventions.

It's not so much killing a good time as it is when someone comes in, starts throwing that phrase around,, and you quickly figure out that it's code for "I want to see everything that I don't approve of as sexy or sexist be removed from this convention."
Yes, some stuff can be over-the-top/NSFW/not-suitable-for-kids, and should be dealt with accordingly, as you said.

I was at RainFurrest... it was just as bad as depicted. There were diapers outside my hotel room. and in the parking lot. Every time my group of friends and I left to go wandering around, EMTs and the Police kept showing up at the main venue. It was the first convention I went home early.

Hi, I was there. I witnessed some of the absolute horror it was. I tried to warn them at their complaint panel at the end of con.
They said " if it gets us attention, we don't see a need to do anything to change it."
I was dumbstruck.
I was the person who stood on the table to clear the main hall for the paramedics so they could reach the kid ODing on shrooms who'd tried to drown himself in the pool.
After I had managed to direct traffic to clear the room. I was holding the door to redirect traffic till the paramedics had finished. I overheard people saying " oh this is a major incident, this means ppl are going to recognize rainfurrest as a major con now."
I immediately asked wtf they were talking about and it was explained that every major convention became considered that after the con had a serious major incident where someone got hurt or arrested.
I had never heard this before, but a lot of ppl agreed so it seemed that is was a commonly known thing.
So I replied and said " that is a terrible thing to aim as the reason for anything to be considered major. I wouldn't want this horrible thing to be what our convention becomes known for... that's going to give furries bad reputation. We struggle with this enough as it is. This convention is supposed to be clean all around fun. "
And everyone was just quiet after that some made sounds of agreement and seemed to pause in reflection.
After this. I heard this same rumor several times throughout the rest of the entire con. I would stop and tell whoever I heard saying this the same thing. At one one of them said I had a good point and I should bring it up at the hiss and scratch at the end of the convention.
I didn't even know they had a complaints panel, but I literally stayed for the rest of the entire convention (which had been an absolute fking literal shit filled nightmare) just to go to this fking panel and bring up my concerns about everything that I had heard and personally witnessed myself.
Which was a lot.
There were a lot of fked up things a lot of the con attendees aren't aware of that actually happened.
Or heard inaccurate rumors of the incident.
I know the truth however cus I actually saw what happened or talked directly to the person that had been a part of the incident and got the story directly.
I was very passionate about rainfurrest, it had been my favorite convention. I used to do Anime cons, but after I went to RF the first time, I stopped all other cons entirely. I had some of the best times of my life at this con. I felt the most at home with the furry community. I felt like I genuinely could just openly be myself, and rainfurrest was my local furry convention.
I re-shaped my entire artistic direction and career off furries becuase of this con.
So ofc I was highly sensitive to anything that was going to put a stain on it.
However after I got that responce from having brought these things to their attention and that I had feared the conventions reputation with the Hilton, and feared that we might not be able to keep the con here if these things kept happening..
And their responce was to shrug and go "so?"
The arrogance and entitlement of the con hosts was quite honestly appalling.
After that I heard the convention was shut down and it was so bad that someone had written a letter to ever venue in the state to warn them and there was literally no place that would take them.
That sucked for the furry attendees in WA, but served those con hosts right. I told them... I fkin told them...Their ignorance destroyed my favorite con.
Shame these were the reasons rainfurrest became a major con... a major example of a majorly bad con.
I hate to say I told you so, cus it's never anything good. And thats why I hate when I'm right, cus Unfortunately I have always been right...

The thing about the towels in the hot tub is incorrect, the reality is worse. First someone shit in the hot tub the day prior having it closed for the day while they did an entire water change. The next day when they reopened the hot tub, I assume the same person who had shit in it shit in an adult diaper and then shoved it into the hot tub filter, which clogged jammed and broke the motor. Having the hot tub permanently out of service for the rest of the convention.
Some of the vandalism had to do with some rooms that literally had shit smeared all over the walls like a Jackson Pollock painting.
I wish I was joking, however I saw it myself. There were some rooms that were open to the halls like an open room party, but instead you got hit with that horrid human fecal matter smell and discover.... yeah... it was not pretty.
And I heard from several others it wasn't the only room that had this happen. The halls smelling like Sh!t is not a joke.
The elevator had been broken far worse than mention in that statement. Ppl had broke buttons on the control panel and a large group had decided to jump on the elevator as it was ascending. Causing a lot of wear on the mechanism that pulled the elevator up. Which ultimately caused the elevator to take a really long time.
And being the only elevator to the main area of the convention center and suiters unable to take stairs. It was a long wait to get to the main part of the convention center.
Eventually they had to limit the amount on the elevator to about 3 ppl each trip and had a staff member on duty riding the elevator to work the elevator and monitor the activity.
Before that happened though, a few baby furs had decided to all togeather wait for the elevator to fill up and doors to close before all taking a crap in their diapers. And with the elevator taking like 10-15 mins a trip.. you can imagine what this was like for the other attendees who were trapped in there with them.
I know this happened because I saw someone come off the elevator crying and found out what happened first hand, as I had been waiting for someone else to make it upstairs.

My face when someone tells him Anthrocon existed before 2000.... And that we had a fandom in the 90s, built primarily from a lot of guys that had gone to other scifi and fantasy cons in the 80s and earlier.
It goes back even FURTHER. If I recall the first recorded discussion and subsequent furry roleplay goes back to some think tank in the 60s, literally a bunch of bored dudes in their 30s going ham, having a good time, and 1up-ing eachother. From the start the fandom was _always_ chaotic good.
I have several questions
1: how does one get a drill into a bathroom without someone noticing?
2: how does one use a drill without someone noticing?
3: why would someone willingly destroy a poolpump?

I would like a Hitman-esque stealth game centered around sabotaging RainFurrest 2015, where the objective is you have to sabotage the convention by any means necessary and there will be opportunities like loosening the toilet plumbing, selling and buying drugs, throwing diapers and trash everywhere, sabotaging the hot tub's pump while ruining all of the fresh towels, pooping in the pool, drilling a glory hole in the bathroom, sending libeling (slandering) letters to other big hotel chains, etc 10:25

We all know there are people outside the fandom who think furries are all like this because of RainFurrest.
But I must say, we also have a lot of people in the Furry Fandom who look down on Babyfurs because of RainFurrest. Like literally I even MENTION the word "Babyfur" in a positive way and people are all like "Oh Yeah? What about RainFurrest?"

Rainfurrest was a poorly ran outlier of a furcon. But what people dont talk about is that teacher conventions cause more damage to hotels than fur cons, same thing with anime cons. Other than Rainfurrest and most likely BLFC, I've never heard of a hotel that hosted a furcon ever denying or refuse to resign their contract to come back.
At my old job I’ve had guest actually take pool towels and throw them in the trash insted of the dirty towel hamper and I was mad!
Went to my boss and explain we have to put a stupid sign on the trash so guest won’t throw towels away.

Another furry convention failure would be Great Lakes Furcon . The year I went was basically a parking lot con ! Oh yeah , and the waterpark ! Then they cancelled the following year 2 weeks before it's date and didn't give refunds . @Mippt has a great video on the subject .

Rainfurrest: The biggest reason why people didn't like the furries including myself for the longest time. Of course, nobody really cares too much now, and I managed to slip into degeneracy. But if you asked an anti or burned fur why they dislike the fandom, half of it came from one convention. Or, at least the modern burned furs. The older ones have... other reasons.

My issues with furries at furcons and their massive amounts of alcohols isn't necessarily that they want to party. It's more so that they don't have fun at the con unless they're getting drunk specifically, and if they're not drunk that's all they look forward to. I tend to stay away from that, plus I have a lot of friends who wake up the next day and Im like dude you were super drunk you did all this crazy shit and they go "Oh I don't remember any of that" Well great, you spent $1k for a hotel room and plane tickets to go across the country and forget 40% of your con experience... sounds like a great time to me x3

Some people may think that this is a prime example to what furries are generally about. I'd imagine that it's not likely. You guys are just weird people, I say this knowing that... A friend of mine is a furry... And he's cool, also gay but I will never get the idea of dressing up as animals every day... No hate no nothing, y'all just weird, I believe some furries are alright, like my friend but I feel like most are devoting their lives to this "idea"
I can give a bit of insight, being a furry myself. It's not about the "idea" of wanting to be an animal, but rather about getting in character and being silly with your friends, giving hugs, taking pictures with people who ask for one and such. This is what basically fursuiters (the furries who own a fursuit) are about when they go to cons. You are correct thinking that this case was particular, because there is a blacklist of people who shouldn't be allowed at cons and this Rainfurrest one didn't exclude those people. This kind of shit doesn't nornally appen at furcons. What's sad is also that people will look at this video and think "yeah, furries are degenerates, they shouldn't even exist" or, if they already have a bad opinion of us (like most of the internet, sadly), this will just reinforce it. People generalise way too quickly, that's the sad truth. I defenetly agree on the fact that it's a weird hobby, I won't deny that. But this doesn't mean people should wish death upon us, like many comments usually do

Like there are case by case scenarios, but for example if you're with a guy in a relationship as friends or even lovers (as a guy), because he has saved your life or helped you get out of a pit or just, because you get along really well, does it really make you gay just because he's a guy or does the emotional attachment exclude sexuality?
If that someone makes you all fussy and warm inside by being themselves and treating you with affection or being your first time for stuff like a hugging, kissing, cuddling or even sexual contact, does it make you gay just because you're both guys?
I began hating (non-actively/only in my thoughts) on lgbt people, because from my own experience these are just people, who'll take anything at face value and call a person gay, lesbians, bisexual
Like people say that your sexuality is essentially assigned at birth, but as much as i can't agree with people saying "It's just a phase" or "just don't be [sexually other the straight]", that much goes the other way around, if there are some circumstances one can just change (more of a long-term process than just few hour, days, weeks and months) and their happiness won't suffer

Oh no this wouldn't actually happen at a convention (I mean unless it goes horribly wrong like this one) because if this did happen everytime furries wouldn't have conversations.
Long time german con attendee, usually professional conventions like anthrocon, mff, eurofur, dokomi expo, gamescom etc are very well monitored with security and staff all over the place. With indie cons however, you have to be careful. One con I used to frequent went pretty much downhill in the last few years thanks to koreaboos flooding it and being just... The worst. It went so far that you are not allowed to bring bluetooth speakers anymore because they would blast their shit so loud that noone could understand eachother anymore. They also banned ahegao clothes after some conplaints from other attendees because it's a con primarily attended by 15-21 year olds. So, a lot of children are there and hentai clothes aren't really appropriate for that.

I was told repeatedly to go to a furry con to meet new people. It's awesome they said. Rainfurrest was the first and last furry con I've been to. I never wanted to go to another furry con after that.
Rain furrest was a con for people who got banned from other cons and the staff allowed toxic things happening. It was destined to be a disaster The normal cons are amazing. I'd research a con before going

Most suits if done well are built with a ventilation system, some even build running fans into them.
For others, amature suits, or just in it too long, they have a room with big fans where no one but staff and fursuiters are allowed. Here the suiters can desuit and cool off. Hydration is also povided.
Most suiters can only go for about an hour of active suiting before needing a break.
My experience trying to find out the truth. 1st of all no one will admit they were there. 2nd No member of the former staff of Rainfurrest and I am including Board Members will even talk about what really happened.

I always wondered why rainfurrest made furries look so bad? Why my other friends believe what they see.
One of the reasons I don't attend furry cons anymore, between this and the bleach bombing of MWFF, nuh uh. Used to be I was one of those evil druggies poking the smot, rinkinday the coholay, and I never. EVER. Did anything worse than set Eric Blumrich's sneakers on fire, and get everyone to do a mass GP Gumby at the second to last Conifur with nothing more than the napkins the hotel provided. But that at least didn't cause mass damage.
