Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ taught us that we are called to be a light to the world. Also by walking in the light of Christ we naturally reaffirm the true Orthodox philotimo (meaning the Holy Spirit guiding a community in its beliefs and aspirations through the contemplation of the Holy Trinity) amongst our brothers and sisters in the Orthodox Church.

A PRAYER FOR LIGHTING A CANDLE:
Christ my God, set my heart on fire with love in You, so that in its flame I may
love You with all my heart, with all my mind, with all my soul and with all my strength, and
my neighbor as myself, so that by keeping Your commandments I may glorify You, the
giver of every good and perfect gift. Amen.
