I saw Philipp Mainlander in the thumbnail and had to check it. He's very underrated and his ideas were quite original and influential for me. Sometimes I wonder how many more great philosophers like him have been totally forgotten. I heard that few years back it was difficult to find a copy of Philosophy of Redemption for less than 90 euro. Im glad that now it's available in a reasonable price. Anyways, interesting video, it'd be great if your audio would be a little bit louder than music next time, bcs sometimes its hard to hear you

The algorithm brought me here (irony), although following along as best I can your earlier statement on people's relationship with technology and then discussing Marxism, my only suggestion is that while doing your readings and research, is to consider "bottom-up" behaviors vs. "top-down" overarching systems. Because while I've observed all of the same things that you have, my focus has been on human behavior and human activity. The small, interpersonal, internal things about people that make us susceptible to tech, the mindless scroll, and our shortening attention spans. -Or to put it differently, I know the mosquito bit us, so now I want to know why our blood tastes so good.
17:20 I would also be careful to not conflate exoticism with normality. When trying to analyze people different from us we tend to overemphasize the outliers because those extremes create a more solid picture, a reified symbol with which we can append our thoughts to. It's a fallacy we're all guilty of. We hoist freak show front and center, muddy the waters, and poison the well. We make create a spectacle to further along the "othering" of different groups, or lazily treat them as monolithic, so we can then walk way uncritically believing that someone else's propaganda is truth. --- Having a lack of experience with other groups is fine, you can't know or see everything, but when the curiosity to learn more goes away THAT is when the problems start. It's better to be an ignorant white guy who knows he needs to learn more, than someone who's decided that they have everything and everyone figured out.
Your concerns are because you're curious. Your concerns are because you're trying to think.
I'm trying to figure out why people aren't curious, or why they don't like to think.
(extra irony) I watched this video at 1.5 speed, sorry.

haha not a problem appreciate the thoughtful reply. Not really sure why I went into trans culture wars discourse tbh. I've known trans people in my life and they're for the most part good decent and emphatic people, I think especially as they grow up as outsiders often, I was mostly just riffing on a few thoughts really and did veer off into random tangents a lot. I'm planning another video soon which is more focused on Mainlander's book, more or less this was a video to just explore some loosely connected thoughts.
