not just that but in a way it would feel like tucking in your tail and going back to abusive parents it would be humiliating/scary/feel like giving up and letting them control her again or be punished for staging a rebellion she couldn't go back not her at least it mean that everything she did even though it failed would have really have been for nothing after the blast we were told she did try to fix the corruption herself that's why she still had them bubbled it wasn't just because she could see did for the future her future she just didn't know what to do other than either go back to the diamonds groveling or stay and try to fix it without them and live feeling like a coward she made mistakes but feeling like a coward till you die that must have sucked in that regard i can empathise even the part with spinel rose was a coward scared to go to her after all that time i mean after a while you feel like going back would just make things worse the longer you go without doing something the worse you feel but also the more it feels like trying to fix it would be worse if it had been pink instead of steven in this show would things have just gotten worse? would pink be in her room and crying about how she failed miserably and all her friend would be seperated and or shattered for being rebels but not her she was a precious diamond who must always be punished by solitary confinement and violence would you go back to your abusers would you risk the crushing loneliness darkness... terror? i would hate to admit it but i would be selfish and cling to my "friends" waiting for a chance to either "win" at something anything some way to get back at them some way to fight back that didn't involve losing more friends or all of them, or fall in love create life and die feeling like a coward hating myself for everything i've done as my younger self. i wish rose would have recorded a video just one that really told what she was thinking without the facade of being rose without lying just a video to show us if she was scared or not if not then idk i would feel like that would be the nail on the coffin of her being a terrible person if she was... she would just be a coward and that would make her a true grey character for me cause i would be a coward if i had to face my father again after he abused me i i still can't face him again i feel like a coward but he was terrible and i had finally cut him out of my life is that bad? is it bad i cut him out? isn't that what your supposed to do? that's what my friends said...

I don't see Volleyball and Pink's relationship to be intentionally abusive, it really does seem like Pink did it on accident from some kind of an outburst. Plus it seems Pink may have learned from it as a mistake, because we haven't seen anyone else hurt like that. Doesn't mean it's all completely good though.

Guys I just realized the corruption problem.
Blue diamond said their attack was supposed to obliterate every gem on its service. As many people guessed it was probably because of Pink Diamond being missing. This episode just adds to the theory! Pink threw such an attack on her pearl, almost with no effort, it cracked her eye on her physical form. When corrupted your gem isn't the one broken/hurt, it's supposed to be like your sick, what if Pink's part of the attack was supposed to be the final piece that actually obliterates the entire gem?!?!

Two points to consider though. One, it wasn't Pink's intention to hurt her Pearl. That was an unfortunate accident (still bears responsibility though). And two, the other Diamonds already thought Pink was dead. It was the reason they unleashed their power against the Earth in the first place.
@@ericbrower611 Pink didn't intend to hurt her, but she has the ability of destruction. We finally get to see that side of her more often now.
I love that you can clearly see the purpose of the Rose Quartzes, when the choosing happened all the amethysts seemed out of their zone trying to comfort humans, because they were meant to be guards, while these rose quartzes are nice and good at socializing

They wrote Pink Pearl's abuse very well i would say. When you've been abused to the point where you're basically _in love_ with them, you're very attached to whatever they give you ((her having a strong grib on the wand when our Pearl tried taking it away)), claiming the abuser did nothing wrong and it was all your fault ((her stating that the reason she's cracked is because she "stood too close" to Pink while she was having her tantrum and claiming she's fine when her eye started cracking even more)), but also cowering, shaking, and whimpering when something reminds you of the abuse ((saying she "had a scream that could crack the walls" in a happy manner but once Steven did his "scream that could crack the walls" she cowered in fear of what could happen))
Obviously both the pearls had a different experience with Pink. I really want to hate Pink but i'm seeing something. Volleyball's Pink was obviously very extremely bratty. Throwing tantrums that could literally break the walls. Our Pearl had still a little bit bratty Pink but like she said, more closed off with her emotions and secrets. Maybe after White took Volleyball away since Pink damaged her, Pink was scared of doing that to her our Pearl so she tried stopping her tantrums that can be destructive? Idk just a thought. I still hate her even though she's beautifully drawn.

@@VANhasVOICE I don't think Rebecca doesn't like Pink because she has a pretty well-written story and character. It’s just that we are shown her character before the war, just like the Pink Diamond, and not the Rose Quartz. From a capricious child, she has grown to a wise leader

Then it's Rose the Hero of Justice... then there's Rose who treated relations with humans as some entertaintment(the moment she was genuinely confused in one of the flashbacks with Greg about feelings), somewhere in between we were treated to Rose the Innocent(always curious about human life and chill - Babysitting Sour Cream for example), then we got Rose the Liar(who kept secrets from Pearl and other CG, like let's say poofing and bubbling Bismuth), then it's a big reveal she's The Pink Monster, then we learn she was some Bratty Tyrant, then there's the whole Spinel thing... and now, very recently we had revelations she hurt her first Pearl in a tantrum so much it caused psychological scar that didnt heal despite her physical form being merely projection of hard-light)... You know, it's a long way around to make the viewer dislike a motherly character that was first depicted as a role model of innocence and love ;p
Ok this is goddamn FASCINATING to me. So pink, in a way that was beyond her control, permanently screwed up Volleyball and (if we take the Fused Pearl’s word as fact) felt bad enough about it that it was on her mind constantly afterword. That’s...kinda huge?
Like, just how much was Pink’s destructive capabilities informing everything she did afterword? Did she constantly run away from problems (including ditching Spinel) and keep secrets from people cause she was scared confronting them head on would make her blow up?
Also, I like how the Rose Quartz trio feel like they each embody a major trait of Pink Rose as Steven and the audience have come to understand her. One is the childish, silly, in love with life side, One is the lax, chilled out side, and the one who looks most like our Rose is the clever, stoic side that’s empathetic and self-aware but also hiding something.
The Ponderer yes!!!!! When we saw Volley cower in fear, these questions just hit me hard. The pain that Volley felt was so deep and powerful. I don’t want to imagine what horrible trauma that sweet little Pearl went through... The show is so good about drawing on relatable experiences that people might have experienced or have friend’s shots might have gone through a abusive relationship.
And yesssss the Rose Quartz’s were all so much like her... having a trait like Pink Diamond, because she made them all during that time when Pink was crazy about humans and earth. Aghhhh it’s all so good! I like that you detailed out what traits each one had! :)
Yes it was on Pinks mind so much that she just happened to forget to mention it to Pearl or anyone else for that matter.
I feel like that's Makin an excuse for pink though.. maybe she was running away from them but in that case it further showcase how unfit she was to rule over anyone cause of her lack of control regarding her emotions
Yeah I really think this is what they were going for. Pink did a lot...like a LOT of bad things, but she didn't WANT to hurt anyone. She did try to improve and care for those around her better, but she WAS a Diamond, and as we are seeing from the 3 we have left now, them unlearning their Diamond mindset isn't easy. I imagine it was the same for Pink, she was trying, but it took a LONG time before she was able to really get how to be good. But that long time it took left a LOT of problems that she never got to fix after she passed on to give birth to Steven.

He can't catch a break in his life it's so sad 😭 And it seems to be directly related to any negative mention of Pink Diamond, he's repressing the memories and his feelings so much that's it's building up and if he even lets it out a _little_ it causes destruction... There's definitely something more going on there and I'm sure we'll see Steven turning Pink frequently through the series and maybe it gets worse as the show goes on? Maybe.. giving us a certain wormy boi? owo
I mean it's showing up at the mere thought of trauma, and we're eventually getting him confronting his trauma, soooooo that form is bound to show up more frequently and show through the cracks in his rapidly breaking façade of being 'okay'
Just slowly losing control of himself cause all he ever hears is pink this pink that
Steven is growing to be more chaotic and short-tempered. The show has narrowly touched on the fact that Steven isn't taking all of this so well as he puts on. He is enslaved to his will to correct his mother's mistakes, hopefully the others notice the reality and give Steven the strength to finally step out of Pink's shadow; something that he has struggled with since the beginning. Even the hero needs help sometimes.

I love the way it showcased abuse and the different effects it has mentally. After Steven's outburst pink Pearl's reaction reminded me of a scared child hearing there parents fighting.
Honestly, I was more reminded of an abuse victim who instinctively tries to protect herself at the moment, but of course, gives excuses for their abuser's behavior afterward. Steven's rage was so similar to how Pink would react that she went back to that original response.

" She didn't mean to hit me, she loves me. I was just in the way, that's all." Sounds familiar? To someone who was an abuse victim, this would be a common excuse. She accepted the fact that Pink can have all of these outbursts and it was VOLLEYBALL'S fault for getting in the way, not Pink who was being destructive around her in the first place.
It reminded me myself hiding from my mum under the covers.

I guess the moral of the story here is: Steven is too good for his own good and has bottled up his feelings for so long that now that they’re surfacing they’re making Steven lose control over his emotions and his powers, which is represented by this state where Steven glows pink and almost loses control over himself. Well this took a dark turn.

The more the show last the more we learn how complicated pink was.
I can't wait to learn more about her past! How was she? I feel like every moment we learn any information about pink was just through the eyes of a certain gem. One time she is the awful gem that hurt everyone near her and the next time she is a b*tch but like not that bad... I feel like we don't know a lot about Pink. We just learned that Pink was way more powerful than we thought, and it's probably just the beginning!!!
The way Pink Pearl (don't like her nickname ^^`) described Pink make me feel like the theory of a corrupted Steven is maybe right after all... I'm so excited for the next episodes!!
We know that, most of the time, smaller gems tend to have more rarity. So what if Pink Diamond is actually the most powerful of the Diamonds because of that rarity?

At least what happened to Pink Pearl wasn't intentional. Yes, Pink absolutely should have controlled herself, and it's yet another thing she did wrong but it was an undiscriminating wave of destruction that poor Volleyball was too close to. I thought if it was Pink who did it it must have been an accidental, the memories Steven saw of Pink and Volleyball together show they were close.
Volleyball was making excuses for the abuse. Nothing excuses abuse.
Volleyball was written like a victim of abuse. Denying the symptoms untill they came to light. And our pearl made her realize.
@@user-zu3oe6rr5o Of course not, that's not what I meant. But accidentally hitting someone while blindly throwing things, isn't intentional abuse. Wrong, but not as bad as intentional. As long as this is our only account of what happened I regard that as truth. Nothing we have seen from them thus far has given me the impression of Pink ever intentionally hurting her Pearl, or anyone outside a battle. It doesn't make what happened ok, nothing will, but don't you think someone intentionally hurting someone is worse? If someone has anger-management issues and accidentally hurt others because of them they can work on them, whereas if someone knowingly hurt others to vent their frustrations, it's much worse, although still potentially treatable.
Like the Pearl-fusion said: our Pearl never knew why Pink was trying to change herself, Volleyball didn't even think Pink needed to change. And now they both have the full picture.
While you can say that, I'm not going to let her off the hook. She didn't care about other's lives around her and how she affected them. We see that time and time again, even after this incident with Pink Pearl. Think of what this would be in human terms. This is the same as someone getting into a rage and in that rage, punch their loved one in the face, or throwing a broken bottle at them, wounding them. Sure, the person probably didn't intentionally mean it, but they are still responsible. Pink Diamond was abusive to many people, and Pink Pearl had faced it so many times that she was used to it. By the time Pearl came around, Pink Diamond was able to reign in her tantrum like rage, but she still abused people even then, just more emotionally than physically.
@@jasmidnurmi9857 Actually, from the way Pink Pearl refers to it, this was something that happened all the time. She was used to it. She probably kept healing from the original damage, but that one time, it just didn't heal. That was when White took Pink Pearl away.
Pink might not have done it with the intention of being cruel, but Pink has long been known to take little care for other's lives. And honestly, it IS just as bad as if she was doing it intentionally considering how many people she abused, even after this incident, even when she became Rose.
Steven Universe: Payoff, more like it. I can see why they referred to it as an Epilogue Season. We're getting many loose ends tied up in what appears to be an incredibly satisfying way. I feel like they dropped the first two episodes to tell these first four stories so they can really get into some fantastic stuff this season. So hyped.
Also I'd like to pose that Pink Steven is now a powerup and he totally has the SU version of Deku, One for All crackling power.
Yellow destroys their shapes.
Blue destroys their minds.
Pink destroys their forms.
White makes the damage permanent.
With just the three, we were left with gems that have permanently altered, monstrous physical forms that can’t form like they used to.
If Pink was in that attack, I figure that there would be no form left to recall. The gems would all be just that: dead, lifeless rocks.
I wish we'd focus more on the things the other diamonds did. Pink wasn't entirely at fault for her actions. She was abused and silenced too. I hope Pink Diamond doesn't become this fandoms punching bag like Rika did for Mystic Messengers...

Just FYI, shell is a name for a terminal on a pc. It’s literally a programming center.
The theory back in the day was that Rose Quartz were originally supposed to be the caretakers of the humans living in the Zoo and the Amythests only took on that role when all the Roses were bubbled. It makes sense because they're super friendly towards humans and kinda borderline infantalizing, plus they *look* the most human out of any gem. Before the Pink Diamond revelation that used to be a reason that was given for why Rose fell so hard for Greg, because she was created to be a caretaker for humans.
I have never been so onboard with SU since Jailbreak...not even lying. I was floored by the more mature atmosphere that the show was giving us and I am so happy that the crewniverse can finally do what they’ve been wanting to with the show
In a recorded video, Rebecca Sugar stated that White Diamond is part of the creation of Pearls but did not have one prior to her mind-controlling of Pink Diamond's first Pearl.

I have a feeling Steven's pink side is Pink Diamond's destructive side. "Her screams could crack walls" is literally Pink Steven when he gets the slightest bit angry, the whole floor cracks.
Pink Steven is literally so angry most of the time and I'm starting to think this isn't gonna be a really good thing, considering that's just the controlled version of Pink's destructive side that made Pink Pearl crack in the first place.

Also, on the side that has an eye for Pink Pea- I mean Volleyball, you can see a crack extending towards the side of her eye. When Princess Pearl (Pearl + Volleyball) unfuse, you can see that the crack is gone. So, it is possible that the cracks of her eye are gone.

She didnt just lock volleyball in a room, she physically abused volleyball, damaging and traumatizing her, forever leaving her half blind with a scare on her face. She also abandoned spinel, abandoned the diamonds, then abandoned the crystal gems to become steven. Even though her ark was backwards (which is a shitty excuse), the cons outway the pros. She did WAAAY more bad than good.

I think she needs to reform to be fixed and thats why they showed us only her right eye, like to let us know that even if her form is broken she is not broken inside anymore.
I honestly have mixed feelings about this new season, I was starting to get worried it got "dumbed down" and became more of a "And that's what we learned today kids" type of thing, but the last two episodes gave a sense of the show maturing. It's less of Steven having to figure out the world and more of him learning from his mistakes while also teaching those around him. The fight scenes and the messages don't seem to have deep meanings as they used to and more so are upfront which I really really really enjoy.
Yeah I agree, I wasn't expecting it to be like this but I'm really happy that it is. I really enjoyed it. I think this way the show feels a bit more...unpredictable. It feels like it's gonna touch certain topics that "Steven Universe" wouldn't.
The weird thing is that that one certain Rose that looked like the one PD turned into looks exactly the same, not to mention that it’s the exact same gem placement as well.
Honestly, Pink Diamond is such a tragic character. She went from a bratty spoiled kid, to someone who was mentally abused by her "sister" figures by being locked away repeatedly for over the span of a couple thousand years because it was convenient, when all she did was just try to be herself. That had to have left a lot of mental trauma and issue's which would definitely at least explain some of the horrible things she did, but of course that does not justify all of it. I think over time Pink realized this and tried to change for the better, but by the time she had matured, it was already too late and the War between Earth and Homeworld had already began because she saw the preciousnessof organic life. By then she was at the point of no return, she had to fight, knowing that she'd never have a chance to right all the wrongs she did because she could never return to homeworld. The other diamonds would have been pissed if she had return to homeworld and they'd heard she was the cause of the war. She'd be locked up in the tower again, forced to endure loneliness and abuse from her own family.
The whole Rose quartz /Pink diamond reminds of a song "Who I am hates who I've been". It's about someone who did a lot of bad things and hurt people who loved them. They eventually changed, even if it took them far too long, and now they feels horrible about their past.

I think if she was fixed, it would be sending the wrong message, in a way. Pearl, even after having a family and finding her own still hasn't stopped hurting. So 'Volleyball' (cause I refuse to call her Pink's Pearl) won't heal because of this new revelation. Up to this point, she had been making excuses for Pink, and denying that she was hurting, so now kmowing the truth, this is her path to recovery. Psychological issues are long standing and trust me, if they could be healed by the truth, I would have been over trauma long ago. I genuinely hope her cracked isn't healed, but something we see heal over the course of the season.
I totally get your point, but remember that is not only the fact of knowing the truth. Is just like in change your mind when Steven was able to get the gems out the puff state through fusion. We know that fusion is the ultimate way to connect so I believe that the understanding of both part and the fusion can be able to heal her.

I mean she's basically like the child of the diamond authority, so of course she'd act like that. The other Diamonds weren't all good either, they lacked the compassion Pink developed over time. They were cold, distant, and dismissive of her similar to how the other crystal gems treated Steven at first although way harsher. Maybe that's something she developed more after her pearl got taken away.

I'm starting to wonder if the rejuvinator might have restarted the latent/suppressed Diamond powers that Rose/Pink fought against using. It also reminds me of the episode "Now we're only falling apart," when Pink has a moment of excitement when Pearl tells her the Amethysts should be emerging shortly, and then Pearl kinda makes a noise and holds the side of her head for a moment.
You’re right about the Rose Quartz’s meant to be companions or buddies. Unlike the rest of them gems made from Pink Diamond’s colony they’re legit the children of Pink Diamond since she specifically made them to be somewhat like her, I wouldn’t be surprised if they had some variation of her powers. No doubt they were supposed to be the guards at the zoo since from the episode we’ve seen how the Amythests aren’t good at it, as well as how Pink wanted to make it a paradise for humans
