In my garden here in Germany I find a great abundance of earthworms, rare lizards and blind adders under my tarps. Love it and it fights permanent weeds.
I have a heavily seeded winter rye that needs to be terminated by May 16th here in New England (zone 5). How many weeks does the silage tarp need to fully suppress this robust stand winter rye on silty clay soil? The winter rye was planted in mid-September and is now very thick and healthy (however, only 10-12 inches tall). The winter rye has not started the rapid spring growth that typically occurs when the soil begins to warm up. The winter rye seems to be dormant. Thank you.
There’s a lot of variables to including ambient temperature and existing germinated seeds but 12 weeks would be my minimum. That right tends to have second and third rounds of germination it seems so you might be prepared to deal with some individual weights, even after the fact .
Thanks for video. Great info I have been interested in using
in my garden this spring in some new ground.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks 😊
Simple and to the point!
What about weeds like bind weed. Does is work to kill that? How long does it take?
