How is that selling going LOL? Her recepe is $15 per soap only in costs of ingredients, not calculating time or electricity or kitchen equipement. I would say this is a business loser.
As palm oil is considered a "hard" oil and sweet almond oil is a "soft" oil, your soap is going to be very soft. Instead of palm (fatty acid of 44) use Tallow 22 fatty acid, Lard 28 fatty acid, or Walmart Shortening which has a high palmitic fatty acid of 35,
xMissMilkyWayx yes, you can use another hard oil. If you use a lye calculator either at soapcalc.com or bramble berry it will show you how to put together a recipe and exactly how much oil, lye and water you'll need. Lard is another hard oil you can use but it's not vegan.
@@monkey-bananas2890 Yeh fair enough, but am lazy. With so many posts coming out of the USA now and many realising they have an international audience… do I want to go “Hey Google…” to my nest every five minutes. If you see my point.
U can there is a soap calculator just type on google it helps u knwo what oils are best for a good soap. I have made many of course NO PLAM OIL. Here is a really good one: 300grams of coconut oil, 100 gr coco butter, 150 Shea butter. 100 gr oilve oil ( u can use sunflower oil but oilve oil make a really good soap. 120gr caustic soda. 320 water
Put it the soap calculator your desired oil and see what it predicts for all coconut oil. It will tell u how much lye and how the soap will be hardened and hiw much lather
Coconut oil is very drying on the skin if that is your only ingredient for making soap. It would be okay but you'll need to increase your superfat percent to at least 20 so your skin doesn't become extremely dry.
Back when I was into making natural soaps like this I tried it for my hair and my hair was always too oily so I don’t recommend it unless maybe you have very dry hair to begin with. My hair never felt clean with this though.
I would say other oils/fats/butters that have similar qualities/characteristics. I'm sorry to respond to a more recent person who asked this same question, but please scroll to find my reply to UA-cam user mark carter.
We appreciate your acknowledgement of the source of your recipes, and actually showing us the book. Palm oil is cheaper than coconut and olive oils, but can be substituted by other oils because of environmental concerns. Also, it is good to see a vegan recipe...no mention of tallow (eek, ugh!). The video is very very good.
I love how everything is home made and it's what I've been looking for since I don't trust what chemical people may be adding and I prefer the healthiest life I can have starting while I'm still young so I can have a longer healthier life this is gonna be fun and smelling fabulous😍
Mine isn’t hardening. It’s all mushy in the silicone mold after two days. Is it because the oils weren’t hot enough when I added the water/lye mixture? Is there anything I can do to save this squishy soap? I’m editing to add that I’ve used this recipe twice now and both times it came out all squishy and mushy. I was able to save one batch by re batching it but the other batch is still squishy. I’m positive I got the measurements right. Could the problem be that I’m using an enamel coated cast iron pot? I’ve heard you should use a stainless steel pot but I don’t have one.
hi . thank u for making this video. may i ask are all the oil here cooking oil pls? actually its true that planting palm oil trees need to deforest big areas and usually destroy the animals habitats. plus causes floods n landslides.. its where i live

There are a few companies who grow their own for palm oil.... not all palm is from the rain forest, or wherever they are destroying the orangutan’s area...

Nope. No lye, No soap. Sodium Lactate can be added to cool Lye solution which helps in the removal of soap from silicone molds, and it helps to harden the soap during the curing process.
Yes, you can make Soap without lye, I make Soap without lye. The only thing people don't understand is you DO NOT NEED LATHER TO BE CLEAN, it's very hard for people to understand that. I make lye free soap because I have a rare sensitivity to it. I use apple cider vinegar and baking soda for my hair and then I use my no lye soaps for hands, face and body.

Why do you have to let it rest for 30 days and at what temperature? Thank you for sharing.
To let the water evaporate, if you use the soap before that it'll dissolve faster.
You cure it at room temperature away from direct sunlight and where there's good airflow.

Sunflower seed oil, grape seed oil, almond oil, etc :)

can i substitute the essential oil into something else like an herbal plant?

28 days is the minimum, it'll dissolve faster if you use it before that.
How much fragrance would you use for the amount you've made
