What she doesn’t get is that criticizing the leadership is one thing, but when you attack soldiers - many of whom were forced to go, by being drafted- is despicable and shameful.
@@ajhindalou We did not think and still do not think defending against communism was pointless and we are forever grateful to US forces that assisted us.
@@ajhindalou OMG, so smart. If all US people terminated their citizenship and fled to USSR, ther wouldn't be US as well. Who could have thought such a thing?
She's always been a trust fund baby. Never HAD to work at a minimum wage job a day in her privileged life.
Rich enough to buy a ticket to Vietnam herself so she could speak out her big mouth against the poor guys who got drafted and maimed and killed in that horrible war. 😮😢😢😢
Pay attention to her saying “I regret being photographed”. She isn’t apologizing for what she did.
Fax. That’s what I was thinking when I heard it
What she did was wrong in every sense of the world. Had she done that with the Nazi's...she would have been killed or hiding in Argentina. Imagine her saying I regret being photographed in an al Qaeda terrorist encampment... . It's one thing to disagree with the war. Even protest it. But to give aid and comfort to the enemy! That was a gutless move by the Nixon Administration. I would have prosecuted her.
@@theccpisaparasite8813 She didn't break any laws. We were not legally in any war against North Vietnam. There was no law she violated.
@@guidototh6453 the Supreme Court has declined to rule as to whether a de facto state of war existed despite the de jure formalities not being observed. Despite having several opportunities to rule on such, it can be inferred that that the Court agreed with such assertion sub silencio. Accordingly, under 18 U.S. Code § 2381 by giving aid and comfort to the enemy Jane Fonda could be tried for and was in fact, guilty of treason.
Exactly
And now she calls for murder of innocents.

I wish that Hoda would have asked the question….. Do you regret taking the notes that one of the POW’s handed you and you turned them over to the VC and later those two prisoners were beaten to death?
I'm sorry. Where can I get more information about this incident?
Fonda claimed that someone led her towards the anti-aircraft gun and suddenly the cameras started flashing, her photo was taken and she feels it may have been a set-up.
This is a blatant lie.
The following clip shows not photographs but *actual film footage* of her walking towards the anti-aircraft gun - *no one is leading her towards it* - and she sits on it while smiling and laughing:
ua-cam.com/video/eBViVboG0Mk/v-deo.html
She was perfectly entitled to take a stance against the war but to visit North Vietnamese soldiers and sit on an anti-aircraft gun that she knew would be used to kill servicemen from her own country was unforgivable.
Cry more imperialist now you know how the Vietnamese felt. Did you think using agent orange and napalm on children was unforgivable??? Of course not, because anything is fair game when it is in the interests of the military industrial complex of the imperialist US of A.
@@kimmieutsunomiya1457 That's not what I said and you know it.
If you want to discuss this, fine but don't do it by putting words in my mouth or attempting to guess my opinion on issues that I haven't talked about yet.
To gain a perspective from this Vietnam Vet on why I can't forgive what she done is this; imagine it was WWII and she did the same thing with the Nazis on D-Day. Back then she would have been shot as a traitor. Americans were being killed there at the very same time she was patronizing with the very enemy that was killing your sons, husbands, brothers, your kinfolk.
I agree 100%. I cannot say I was there, as I joined when we were pulling out. I was very aware of Jane Fonda's actions though, and can say it made me so angry I wanted to find her myself. Thank goodness, self discipline got the best of me. She would have definitely been shot as a traitor if she had done something like that during WWII, with the Nazi's. We had no room or tolerance for unpatriotic people back then.
@@Colhogan06 In WW2, Germany was an enemy due to a declaration of war. Under Johnson and Nixon, our legal role in Vietnam was not as a warring state. No war, no treason. Nixon's Justice Department knew that and that is why they didn't prosecute her. That and also, that her trial would become a cause celeb and likely backfire.
Imagine this Edmund, what if Marlene Dietrich had condemned the SS during the war? Would you applaud her, or consider her to be a traitor? If your answer is that it's ok to condemn SS, than what you're saying is that is ok to condemn your own army if it's involved in illegal war, and committing crimes. That's exactly what Jane had done.
@@darkostalevski7799 Marlene Dietrich is an American, so her pro-American stance is not treacherous towards Germany since it was not her country that she empathized with and identified with, even before the start of the war and the rise of the Nazis to power. Bad example.
So it’s wrong to be anti-war?
She did turn in the names of POW Airmen. She took the small piece of paper from the airmen who secretly gave her with their social security numbers so she might let their family know who they were. She turned the paper over to the Vietnam Officer who embraced "her cause". Those POW's were executed, and it Was at Jane's hand. She says she feels guilty about her obnoxious fling with the VietCong Officers and her giddy flits and posing on the (probably) very Guns which shot the airmen down who were caught and made POW's. Until Jane's visit, they were still alive.
I'm beginning to think that it was Jane Fonda herself that turned the Vietnam war into a lost cause.
god you know nothing, this is actually hilarious, jane never did such thing, it’s on record that jane actually gave the 7 POW mail and even called some of their wives to let them know they were okay. those pow wouldn’t have to hand their name over to jane in a piece of paper as they had talked to jane for an hour beforehand, where they exchanged names and thoughts. jane was set up by the vietnam government and that photograph was the cause of that, she didn’t have anyone killed, she in fact helped those pow
@@bhaddfattie1858yes she did.
Woman being anti Vietnam war is ok but taking photos and posing with the Vietnamese nah that's not it
So now being against war is problematic? Wow, it's sad that so many people lack the critical thinking skills needed to understand the more complex things in life, war being one. You can be against the Vietnam war, any war, all wars and still feel for the soldiers who are sent by governments to fight unnecessary wars. Being against the Vietnam war doesn't mean you hate the soldier. Most of you are reaching and full of it.
She was straddling an anti aircraft gun in what appeared to be in a state of sexual arousal and stated that she wanted the American soldiers in the POW camps to be executed.
She's basically blaming the photographers and isn't really sorry at all; particularly when her alimony and divorce settlements came in; granting her a lifestyle of extravagance irrespective of past sins.
She better hope I never run across her….
She should be forced to live in Vietnam as a rice farmer for the same pay they get. After all, she chose who her people are so she is same- same as them.
LOL
Does she seriously think ppl hate her because of the picture???
That's the only thing she did wrong. And yes, that is why most people hate her.
She's sorry she got caught. That's all
They should’ve sent her to the front lines to use as cover.
There are a lot of reasons for the negativity being directed at Jane. The biggest problem is that she went over there to Vietnam protesting the war. She didn't bother to think there were American service members over there in harms way, or if she did, she definitly didn't think about what message it would send to them. Going over to entertain the troops is one thing. Saying anything anti war or negative about America's involvement while you are in that country, that is something that is just unforgivable. She basically told the enemy they were right and we were wrong and that was like spitting on the service members who were over there fighting and dying. Common sense should dictate that anything you do or say, will be used to their advantage while in that country. So to simply say that she regrets it. That quite honestly isn't remotely enough. Its like being caught robbing a bank, and telling the judge you regret doing it, when in reality you actually regret being caught. The same concept applies here. She doesn't understand that speaking negatively about anything Vietnam related that was against our country, or taking any photo of any kind, sends a very bad message to the soldiers over there in harms way. Photos are a big no, no as they can be easily manipulated to serve any purpose. No service member wants to hear that our POW's are being treated well over the radio, when they know damn well they are being tortured. She said that on the radio,, or it was played on the radio, so just as bad. Just talking about it now gets me angry all over again. The real problem is she was in way over her head, and had no business over there saying the things she said. Doing that made her look like she was pro North Vietnam. That's a pill that is hard for any service member to swallow. If you ask me what she did borders on being an act of "treason". Based on it's definition, it was pretty close, just saying.... I joined the Army just a few years after her stunt. We had already gotten most of our troops out by the time I was old enough to join. Going through training, they were still training at the intensity level of when the war was still very active, and I will say, they really scared the living you know what out of us. So I can just imagine how hurt those guys felt hearing of the things she did and said. A young 18 yr old kid, scared to death and wondering if he will get to go home, then he hears her garbage and now he is scared to death and confused. Sorry I got rambling. This topic always gets me somewhat riled up.
Because Jane was a real one, unlike the brainwashed military dogs of the state. She didn’t bend in the face of US imperialism and said what needed to be said, not what Americans wanted to hear.
They were very wrong in their invasion of Vietnam. That’s why they always end up harming civilians but strangely can never beat the people they are actually meant to be fighting.
"She basically told the enemy they were right and we were wrong" EXACTLY. Western imperialists were wrong and lost the war HAHA.

She can try to whitewash heself but her words and actions spoke loud and clear and only a heart felt apology plus a plea for forgiveness will start the healing.

Talk is cheap. My father risked his life twice in that war, was shot out of a chopper and recovered in Germany. He died hating you as have many vets.
Notice, she completely glosses over the fact that US soldiers were being tortured there. The soldiers were being abused regularly and foriced to record propaganda claims they were being treated well. Some managed to slip her notes privately telling the truth about their treatment. She then turned the notes over to the brutal Viet Kong who further tortured our troops as a direct result of her actions. She also said that our troops should be killed.

I get that she hates war. (Huh, what is it good for.) And in Vietnam, there is definitely enough blame to go around. But she takes it too far by attempting to abdicate the NV from their actions and attempting to make them the victims.
"It tells me that they didn't understand..." She's not sorry at all. A POW tried to hand her a note to take back to the U.S. and she refused it.

BTW Did everyone notice how she dodged the question by shifting the subject and placing blame on both political parties? Nice try Jane shame. My brother was a Vietnam veteran and was wounded in 1966. He came home only after being there three months as a double amputee and multiple shrapnel in his spinal vertebrae. His life after that was a life filled with pain as a result of being an amputee. He didn’t have good balance, and through the course of the next few decades, he fell breaking a hip, and then a decade later he fell on black ice, breaking his shoulder, his elbow, the other hip femur and knee. He had two life-saving operations and ended up with a colostomy bag. He passed away about a year ago, and he is missed beyond words. He served his community when he returned from Vietnam, and was an inspiration to his family, and anyone who knew him. I just wish that Hanoi Jane would keep her mouth shut and get out of what she thinks is a limelight that she deserves. She continues to stir up negativity. Sad
