Cranberry Margaritas - Christmas - Lynn's Recipes

- Lynn demonstrates a festive Holiday drink, Cranberry Margaritas.
1-1/4 cups cranberry juice cocktail divided
1/2 cup sugar, divided
1-1/2 cups (6 ounces) fresh or frozen cranberries, rinsed
3/4 cup fresh lime juice
3/4 cup tequila
1/2 cup orange-flavored liqueur, such as Cointreau
3 cups coarsely crushed ice
Pour 1/3 cup cranberry juice into a shallow bowl. Pour 3 Tablespoons sugar onto a rimmed plate. Dip rims of 4-6 wide mouthed glasses (6-8 ounces suitable for margaritas) into juice then sugar. Set glasses aside.
Reserve 12 cranberries. In a blender, blend the remaining cranberries, cranberry juice, sugar, lime juice, tequila, orange liqueur, and ice until smooth and slushy. If necessary, blend in 2 batches, then mix together. Divide among glasses and garnish with reserved berries, skewered on toothpicks.

My mom, sister in law, and myself enjoyed this drink Xmas eve. We made it exactly to recipe, and it was WONDERFUL. My 83 year old mom drank enough for 3 people, she really liked it, but had to lie down. I think this will become a new tradition in my family!

Sounds like a good festiva drink for the winter months. I love & usually drink blue margaritas on the rocks. I don't care for the slushy styles but I'm sure I can alter this recipe some way. Thanks and have a great weekend.

What if I don't have a Vitamix Blender Lynn?

margarita base are tequila, triple sec and lime juice, you remove one ingredient which is triple sec it is not margarita anymore. that is random drinks.
...only for the grown-ups tho. Let me clarify that. Lol
