And she would love you no less but perhaps more if you had an eye injury or lost your sight, they are in tune with so much more than we humans are, definitely ‘ mans best friend’ , I wish her a full recovery, whatever it will be is her destiny as well as yours.
Loving your videos as I might get a Havanese as my first dog! Is there a reason you specifically got a Havanese? And these are soooo useful 😁 can I ask about shedding? I saw your video about grooming but do you find that she sheds or is it limited? Also if you can share any of your experiences on training in the first couple of weeks like potty training and things. That would be amazing! Looking forward to the next videos!
Awww I'm glad! And good choice! To be honest, I wasn't exclusively looking for a Havanese when I was looking for a dog, but they were in the types of breeds with traits I was looking for e.g. small, versatile, intelligent, easy to train, don't require too much exercise etc. It just ended up that Evie was available at the time I was looking, so a Havanese it was! They're also recommended as being good breeds for first-time dog owners, so that was a plus. They don't shed at all around the house. The only time their fur comes off is when you brush them, but it will collect in the brush/comb and is very minimal. The first couple of weeks were difficult in terms of trying to keep her occupied with the things she should have been playing with/chewing, and managing puppy biting, but actually training her was probably the easiest bit as they're such a clever breed! I was lucky that she had access to the garden via a cat flap at the breeders so she had learned to go to the toilet outside from copying her parents and siblings. So she actually had very few accidents in the house, and was fully toilet trained by 5 months. I would just recommend taking them out as much as possible, before they even show signs of needing to go. At any time she was awake, I would say I was probably taking her out at least once an hour in those first couple of weeks, and you have to be prepared to be out there a while with them. It's hard work but it pays off! And they grow so fast that they can go longer and longer without needing to go outside very quickly. Now she can hold it for hours and lets me know if she needs to go. She also slept through the night from day one in her crate with no accidents, had some very early mornings with her from her needing to go to the toilet but was just grateful to not have to take her out in the middle of the night!
@@sophiegracewillis ah thanks so much! This is all extremely helpful. I'm in total research mode at the moment so it's great to here your experience. Really appreciate it!
