This highlights just how talented & unique Foreigner really was. Lou Gramm WAS & always WILL BE the voice of Foreigner no matter how many replacement singers they get.
Sweet hello from Russia, my curly-haired hero! Oh, I still cannot believe that I SEE AND FEEL this masterpiece after all years. God gave you a phantastic gift of singing. Thanks a lot that you share it with us. I like your art - you just sit and sign. It is cozy? Thanks a lot!
Lou Gramm is a bad ass......Extremely humble. I met him in a studio in 1993 in Nashville, Tennessee. There is a reason why true musicians have staying power.......ITS CALLED TALENT!!!!!!!!!. We seem to have a lack of true talent these days. (take your pick). I would consider Lou Gramm to be one of top 10 lead vocalists to have ever lived. Just my thoughts. I was venting. Sorry.
Lou Gramm and Steve Perry, two beautiful singers. Range, beautiful tone, and how they annunciate and interpret the lyrics...makes the hairs on my neck stand-up.
Lou Gramm is the reason why they became who they are. He was probably one of the best vocalist of the70s 80s and 90s. And the reason I know every word to every song
@@MarinaSilviaOdriozolaPuente You know that he got rail roaded by Jones when the song" I wanna know what love is" was recorded? Mick made him go to another studio and record his voice separate from the choir. Stole his joy right out from underneath him.
My wife and I were lucky to catch Foreigners Mr Moonlight tour in Perth Australia back in the early 90's still rate it as my most favourite gig ever and I,ve seen many bands in my 57 years.
I watched (and taped) this when Foreigner came in studio that day! The end of the golden era of Muchmusic...we in Canada were so fortunate to have this growing up!
Lou MADE Foreigner great and he's such a humble guy today and I'm glad I'll see him in the next life because he is saved by the grace of Jesus. God bless you Lou.
Lou Gramm had one of the greatest singing voices I ever heard. I remember when I was a youngin, I got my 1st radio which was a Bugs Bunny radio with carrot microphone and I used to sneak listening to the radio, "crawling" thru ALL the FM stations(some stations had horrible frequency and would be hard to catch unless slowly crawling thru the stations) looking for songs that hit my ears in a great way and I came "I Want Know What...." Whoa, I was blown away not just by the overall composition and arrangement of the song, but also by Lou's incredibly soulful voice (yes, I'm black. Lol). I was mesmerized. "That Was Yesterday" was another mindblowing song for me and then "Waiting For A Girl Like You" was sooo smooth sounding. My 3 faves from Foreigner that stay in every phone I get in my eccletic playlist rotation.
Bravo Lou Gramm you are the best!!! Sua fã de Portugal !!!
it's amazing that is great is Lou gramm's voice was and the band was known for his voice it's really amazing because this band was musically talented beyond belief period. That's saxophone solo is crazy
Wow, can Lou Gramm sing!! GREAT live version of the multi -layered vocals. I get goosebumps whenever I hear this song, STILL, 40 years later. Might be, could be, the greatest rock song... ever.
This was in 1992 it's now 2016 alot has happened to Lou. He was very ill in the late 1990's and thankfully pulled through and has been recording and performing live. Not sounding like this version but still doing what he loves
Man, so classy! Wonder band. Notice how the songs resist the acoustical treatment. Mick Jones needs no presentation, his CV speaks for itself. But everything turned to be much easier thanks to the exceptional voice, one of the best I ever found. Congratulatios to all six of you.

A great singer in Lou and a great songwriter in lou and mick. The problem with today is that they’re obsessed with fame more than talent and skill. There’s a reason stage presence is almost dead. Bands used to coordinate moves on stage and do a show like Springsteen and others. Now they all stand in place while the singer tries to be a Freddie Mercury but the talent and songwriting skill is not there or not desired by the industry. Great guitarists exist but they don’t fit the fame narrative because they’re not sexy enough. They’re marketing for younger and younger now that it’s really scary meanwhile our musical heroes are getting older and older and much less mobile and with much less to write about. Bring back real talent like Chris Stapleton and others like him
I had a male friend just a friend. He was a bad boy .Lol.He used to call me. WE used to smoke weed together that's all and listen to foreighner on the radio. I think I was 15 lol 😆
What makes Lou's sound so great is that he has a tenor voice, but he always sings right at the top of his range, which adds a very tough element to his singing. Steve Perry sings in a similar range but because his voice is naturally higher, he can sing in those upper keys effortlessly, whereas Lou is always straining. When Lou is rested, I think he sounds better than Steve, but he struggles with being able to sing for prolonged periods (like concerts) as the many videos of his performances will attest.
Lou himself confirms this by telling us he didnt like being on the road for long periods.Steve Perry is "The Voice".Because Lou struggles he is pain and emotion and love all combined.Dont think he can be nicknamed because Lou is simply Lou.Actually the best way to put it is Lou IS Foreigner.I dedicate the last song to my EX.My 2nd wife of 15 years showed me what love is and now it looks like love has finally found me.Just realised that tonight.Foreigner forever.
Where do you hear straining? He sings with a lot of intensity. If he were straining he wouldn't have those resonant tones. He couldn't speak so clearly between songs. Lou set the bar for a lot of singers. He really took his voice to extreme places. I hope he teaches one day.
Good point. Strain always brings raspy-ness and dry throat. I have seen many interviews and his speaking voice is always clear. BUT......... for reason unknown he did suffer from throat cancer and greatly affected his singing even til this day.
Lou actually had the higher range in terms of tessitura and span of usable range/notes but they shouldn't be compared because of the difference in technique. I think you're confusing strain with intensity. If he was straining he wouldn't have the tone and resonance he does.
You would have thought that Mick would have continued going doing the rock songs that Lou made famous and throwing in a ballad or two just to keep the original band going. The new guy doesn't compare with Lou at all but then again who does.
Awesome performance fellas. The band was firing on all cylinders here! Epic performance.
Damn!, damn, damn!…. I enjoyed that!!
This highlights just how talented & unique Foreigner really was. Lou Gramm WAS & always WILL BE the voice of Foreigner no matter how many replacement singers they get.
Staccato voicing. Sharp, clear, precise. Love it

I thought I could sense some tension between Mick and Lou but I just think the money was too good and they had to put their differences aside.

Yes it is December 1992
They all do a great job.....I can't sing like Lou or Kelly so I'm out!!!
That John Edwards remark felt uncomfortable by the look of Lou's body language.
Who
What remark?
Marcia De Santana Jordão Lou body expression in the interview
When the interviewer said something about the vocalist Foreigner had in 1991, John Edwards. There was an uncomfortable moment there.

Kelly Hansen was an awesome replacement though
I was a fan of LouGramm and StevePerry.. but I've found an even better singer in SteveOverland ! :)
