I just got this tool a month ago and used it for a basement remodel, and I can say that I love the tool. It jams from time to time, but atleast I don't have to hook up the compressor. I realy enjoy the Bauer line and i have been using their tools professionally for a year now and 4 years domestically. I must say they are a great deal. especially with the replacement plan, you always have working tools when you need em. I hope Bauer continues to expand their tool line, there is no need to get "pro" tools, atleast for me.

I have had it jam once since this video. I think just taking your time with it helps a little.

I just bought it yesterday for $60 new on FBMP. I can’t say I’ve compared what HF offers to brands at HD and Lowe’s. But, as I’ve just inherited a house and haven’t turned the power on yet, the battery operated tools from Bauer, Warrior and Atlas have been of great help. I know I didn’t need to buy the most expensive, highest end tools, because these tools won’t be used professionally and some will only be used rarely. While batteries are costly, I’m simply trying to avoid the costs of hiring a contractor, for really small jobs. The only issue I’ve had so far, just in unboxing this particular tool, is that it seems quite heavy, for its type of use, and I’m a lady.

Just got this 2 days ago, bought the charger and a 5amh battery and you get any Bauer tool up to $180 value for free right now

I have one of these, very handy tool to have. On mine, the light kept blinking saying it was jammed when it was not. After taking off the top cover plate, I found that the metal driver was not lubricated enough to move back and forth thus getting stuck halfway during the nailing stroke. Put some bearing grease on it to make sure it moves back and forth. Now it works like a champ.

oho.... thanks for that. I had the same issue and thought it might just ne faulty. the funny thing is that the manual does not call for regular lubrication.

Just bought it and having the same issue {blinking LED even though not jammed). Will test it out a bit more and try your workaround.

If I had just bought it, I’d just exchange it for a new one.

This one is on my wish list for some time in the future. It has great reviews on their website and your review just helped with more confirmation that it’s a good tool for the DIYers out there. Thanks!

The temptation to buy this gun and first battery and charger in the line is very strong specially after watching this. Great video on it

Buy it with the biggest couple/ few batts you can afford, totally worth it. I can get other stuff but I choose Bauer bc they are good and great values

nice that 2 inch nails went into 2x4's with only the 1.5amp battery. The manual says to use the 3 amp or larger

As I said before, being a maintenance man, I've used this a bunch of times, on a lot of different projects. I've only had it jamb up a couple of times, and they were probably my fault. So much easier than a hammer and nail and the hammer misses that come with that. Not to mention, no need to lug around a noisy compressor and a hose. Probably my favorite tool in the line up for my job, Although the blower comes in handy alot too!
    Later Bro! Nice review 😀

I’ve been following your Bauer reviews and picked up a nailer for $80. Just got to try it out. Working great so far. I agree with your assessment of the whole Bauer line - the tools are generally of good quality, work well, last, and cost a fraction of what higher end tools do. They have allowed me to expand into quite a few new kinds of tools.
One thing I disagree with you on is the random orbital sander. I remember you said vibration was bad and it hurt your hand. Project Farm measured it as the lowest among all the tested sanders. I think you got a dud and should try to get a replacement for it. Mine had noticeable less vibration than either my corded 6 inch bosch or my corded 5 inch dewalt.

This is definitely one on my wish list, I hate having to fire up a noisy compressor for trim work in the house!

Looks like a tool I need to add to my Bauer lineup. I have my pneumatic Brad nailer but it's a pain to haul out the compressor just to drive a few brads.

    Good review as always.
I don't see me getting this, as I don't have much need for one of these, but like you said, seeing this and other tools make me feel better and better about being in the Bauer 20V line.
(Though, now that I think about it, when I DO use a nailer (e.g., one of my HFT Central Pneumatics), I do have to lug out the air compressor and all, so please consider me if you ever include this in a tool giveaway -- lol!)
Incidentally, I was in HFT yesterday picking up a few things and saw the Bauer 20V air tool you reviewed on the open box table for about $17, and after your review I was REALLY tempted to buy it. Your channel has the potential to make me go broke, you know!
    🤣
Enjoyed it, Derek, and looking forward to your next review!

Haha sorry for the late response, my excuse this time is just that there are so many comments to keep up with now days haha. I have a pneumatic one from HF too and it’s been a great tool. But the convince is just to good not to have the cordless one!
Well I’m not trying to make anyone go broke haha. Only buy what you need. I might seem like a massive consumer on the channel but in reality I try to be calculated in everything I buy. Tools Im not so good at doing that anymore.

My only issue with all these wireless brad nailer is they get very heavy after a while. I don't understand why someone can't make one a little lighter in weight. But this looks like a good useful tool. Thanks for the review

    • @DereksWorkshopAndProjects
      @DereksWorkshopAndProjects  Рік тому +4

I agree they are much heavier than a pneumatic nailer but cutting the cord/hose is so convenient.

And batteries cost, but yes, I love cordless, whether it’s doing inside or outside work.

I love the idea of this tool and really want one. The thing I find hard with it is they don’t have a 16 gage nailer as well. As someone who hangs doors and puts up casing and baseboards daily, I use the 16 gage on doors and the 18 gage for the casing and baseboards. So it doesn’t make sense for me to have 1 air powered gun and one electric. It is not hard to swap the hose to a new gun and if you do it right you use 1 gun then switch.

I just bought one and they have a great deal. The gun is 99.00 tool only but if you buy a 3 amp charger and a 5AH hour battery for $89 they throw in the gun for free.

  • @jamesanthony8438

Yes, the 1.5 Ah battery _is_ mostly useless...
but it's perfectly fine when used with their different flashlights and the hot glue gun, so don't just toss them into a box and shove 'em in the closet if you wind up with one. They work great... just not for that drill package you may have purchased when getting into the Bauer 20v platform. Invest in the 3 Ah or higher for those; you know, the batteries that actually _work_ for a livin'. =D

Harbor Freight does the Good, Better, Best on many of their tools. I purchased the pnuematic Pearce 18-guage brad nailer (Best). I sensed it was not performing well with the 2" brads or any brads for that matter. So I loaded the 2" brads and shot through a 3/4" boardf. It only put a nail in the board 40% of the shots. It would help me if you could demonstrate that the Bauer 20V brad nailer shot brads 100% of the time.

  • @scottpietrs214
    @scottpietrs214 7 місяців тому

Good consistent nailing depth and for baseboard jobs where you can't use a compressor, but in general too heavy. Also not good for detail work like building drawers, as the tension in the tip is too high when pushing the nailer against a board to engage the nailing capability. Compressor-based nailers like Porter Cable have very little tension and weigh a lot less, so they're very easy to maneuver in tight spaces.

I bought one from the as-is section of my local hf. It lights up and everything, but when I try to depress the switch (trigger and the one that needs to be pressed before the nails will fire) it does not make any sort of noise indicating that it is attempting to fire a nail at all. Do nails need to be inside the unit for it to fire? I didn't buy nails at the time in case it didn't work
