Pretty sure he’s just smart, the dude makes a good living and in America we have these things called taxes and when this is your business and you have a profit you owe that in taxes, my guess is it’s the end of the year and he owes taxes but if he loses 50k it’s considered a write off so either he ends up owing more taxes I.e he wins and in that case he can easily pay that or he loses and owes nothing or less than he would have. It seems like a smart business decision
