- How I remove grout / tile adhesive the easy way quick fast still might be a little hard work but not as hard as scrapping on the dry hard tile adhesive this way was learned from hard work and sore hands arms and shoulders. As promised how I remove tile adhesive the easiest way I know so simple but took me a hard lesson to learn now I share it with you the water wets the tile adhesive soaking in and making it softer and less dusty when scrapped of using a sharp paint scraper some what a stiff one to. Doing it this way will cause less damage to the wall below making it easy to paint plaster if re tile again . yes it can be tiled or plastered over but not as easy and will take more plaster and adhesive to achieve a great result this way will save that harder work and give you that blank canvas you want... again this might not work on all wall tile adhesive as some are very water prof but worth a shot even if so and i wish you luck on your job be you a pro or DIYer #remove #adhesive #DIY this job is in a kitchen but could be a bathroom or any where that had tiles, How to easily remove tile adhesive from walls 98% don't know this

Thankyuoooo, from a grateful 65yr old lady, if I can do it anyone can, fantastic tip. Edit: My dried on tile adhesive was 20yrs old. I wet it but it didn't work straight away, but multiple wetting and waiting, and it worked, so sometime you have to be patient. No more chunks gouged out of the plaster where I spent hours chipping away at it. what I loved was the tiny bits left actually wiped off! considering this was old, very dried on tile adhesive. mmm I wonder if you soaked tiles that had old adhesive on, it would work, as years ago had to re-apply a tile that had fallen off and spent a good while chipping the adhesive off ( didn't have any spare, tile discontinued and it was not flush with the others, no wasn't me) This is a great tip for the older enthusiastic DIYer. 😊
I Love to hear this video is helping so many people and so glad it was helpful for yourself :) do feel free to share it to friends and family :)
Thanks for the tip mate. Took me an hour and a half instead of most of the day!!👍
Ye it is a time saver for sure still hard work but a lot easier glad it helped mate =)

Wish I had seen this when I was redoing my bathroom years ago 🤦🏼♀️ We just replaced the dry wall ugh. Oh well know for the future. Thanks so much for the tip. Appreciate it!
It don't always work depends on the adhesive but yes some times rip the whole lot ot best thanks for watching and commenting 😊
Omg thank you so much need walls ready for plasterer Tuesday coming got 3 clear days the old tiles I think they used a can per tile wetting it with warm water bit of liqued in and bingo. If you was here I would give you a big hug need to crack on thank you so much you are a *🤗

I brought a big heavy duty scraper to do mine. It didn’t touch it. See your video thought no way on my adhesive but I’ll try it. All done in an hour and a half, finish is almost good enough to fill and paint. Thanks
Nice one mate yes I learned this the hard way but so glad i found out a little water goes a long way with it :) So happy it has helped you mate :)

Thanks buddy :):) yea hard to make it better at times but hopefully worth it for the ones watching :)
my mic broke recently took me ages to figure it out thought it was me hitting a button on the camera but seems the mic must have a lose wire in it as it works sometimes or for a few seconds on each recording haha making editing hard
Top man... That works! 😊

Great to see you still posting. 👍
Thanks for stopping in mate yea been thing about a few livestreams again
Unfortunately the adhesive is from 80s in our house and is set like concrete 😂
yea unfortunately this wont work on the water proof types is yours the grey cement type mate? best using the drill the
to chip that gear hard work @@charliemccollum
@@macplastering it was on plywood that was attached to a bath frame. Then tiles on top of wood to close in the bath
@@charliemccollum ahh yea can picture that nightmare now tearing sheets of timber off with tiles might be best pull sheets of and re board if you have the money to go that way
Wow that's is amazing 👍👍
Cheers buddy glad it was helpful 👍
Your an absolute star 🌟
@gingerbreadaudio mare of mine is at his own but he unfortunately has the waterproof gear on n it's fighting him ... but so glad it's helping you m8
Big help!
Brilliant to hear my friend pls do share with others if possible 😀
Great help 😊many thanks for sharing this with us 👍🏴
So glad it helped you mate 👍
Hi mac plastering. Would water in a spray bottle work instead of brushing it on?
Thanks Nick
yes or a sponge or cloth
How do you take off the old tile glue it’s brown in color and do not come off easy with xtra course sand paper and orbital sander any suggestions
Might need a sharp scrapper is it rubbery?
I have the same, circa 1955 original to the house and very hard to budge. Not rubbery at all.
I'm surprised it just melts after a few minutes when you add water. So any leaks in the grouting and they all fall off?
I would think it would be bad in the long term for sure again some advises are weaker than others as in not as water proof
I'm going to try this today, I will let you know how I get on - Thank you
Hopefully you get same results my friend so adhesives are stronger but hopefully you have similar
Hope it worked well for you
Any tips for getting adhesive off of wood? Thanks!
@@fisherboy01 wood ply?
@@macplasteringyes
@fisherboy01 this way will only work if its this type if adhesive over thing you could do is unscrew and turn it around if buying more isn't an option
warm water with a splash of PVA , always seemed to help with polymer adhesives.
Yes makes it soak good just to tight to waste it me :):)
@@macplastering haha.. plus you got to get the bits up quick before they stick to floor
Thats so true mate just made it sticky again :):)
I add a bit of pva as it seems to stop the water running down the wall holding it in place as it soaks in. If you get lucky an old plastering trowel does the trick but if it’s a little bit tougher the small scraper is way easier on you body as you demonstrated.
yes would work 100%
So does that hurt the drywall, getting it wet? How long did it take?
still hard work but much eaiser this way cant remember how long this took maybe and hour or 2 as long as you don't go to mad with the water shouldn't be to bad might soften your drywall plaster a little to but no doubt wall will need replaster tiles or patched after all the same
@@macplastering i got told they would have to tear our my walls for a glue up bathtub shower surround. My tiles are plastic, but some are falling off….from the 70’s i think.
@cindyk4145 just make sure they are not asbestos as you will need to realy protect your self if it is
@cindyk4145 but yes sone times it's just easier to pull boards of and start a new
Can't believe no one knows this . Know this many moons ago. But gd job in making the video
some don't i learnt it myself when was young on a job haha thanks for watching buddy :)
Nice title. Made me wanna see how 😂
Now you know m8 =)
1/4" drywall and done
Nice
Hi, what about on a concrete wall? Im using a grinder and dust is everywhere
Is the adhesive white ? just give it a test like on the video nothing to lose hoping it works for you my friend :)
@@macplastering yes it's white but the wall is concrete, and thanks for the reply
Should work as long as it soaks in the water ? did you try it mate ?
@@macplastering gonna try it today barely
the best stuff is warm water with some soap in as or a steamer but steamer can take the skim off but if yours is just adhesive on concrete should be good to go
Does it work on a concrete wall?
should do if its similar tile adhesive used
@@macplastering thanks
Anytime my friend
Thanks for sharing. Mary my job a lot easier.
So glad it's helped you my friend do feel free to share it on if you think it could help others 😊
Took me 2 seconds to notice that could have been scrapped off with a spoon. Good luck
Only after not before
Try a steam cleaner
Yes or wall paper steamer should work only thing is don't hold it on to long of blows the plaster of the wall thanks for watching ad commenting mate
My adhesive is like concrete. Water does nothing.
Unfortunately if its waterproof it won't work I have said that on this video your only option would be a hammer drill it's hard work mate wishing you the best on it
good tip, i just wish i didnt have to sit thru ur bloviating to get to the issue of the video. LESS TALK....MORE VIDEO
Your welcome
Don’t work if it’s waterproof
Yea I did say that buddy that's the ones that need plastered over unfortunately
less work if you just use a steamer
possibly but like i said in video more chance to blow the skim coat off the wall to
Huh? What did you say?
At what time mate
