    About Their Bus Conversion Journey:
    Their journey to bus life began with a love for the outdoors and camping. After finding their bus in Jacksonville, they spent two years converting it into a cozy and functional home while still on active duty. Their investment in the bus was between $50,000 and $60,000, but every penny was worth it for the comfort and convenience they now enjoy on the road.
    Key Features of Their Bus:
    Kitchen: They designed a spacious kitchen with durable butcher block countertops, a farmhouse sink, and an apartment-sized stove. Custom-built cabinets with pull-out drawers and a pull-out pantry provide ample storage for all their cooking needs.
    Living Room: The living area serves multiple purposes, including dining, lounging, and additional sleeping space. It features a diesel heater and a dedicated desk for their son’s online school.
    Bedroom: They created a comfortable space for their teenage son with a bunk bed and doors for privacy. Their bedroom includes a walk-in closet with a full-length mirror and storage for their electrical system.
    Bathroom: They installed an airhead toilet and a tiled shower with a stone floor, ensuring durability and ease of use on the road.
    Electrical System: The bus is equipped with Victron components, 206 amp-hour lithium batteries, and a 3,000-watt multiplus inverter, ensuring reliable power for all their needs.
    Exterior Features: The roof racking system uses unistruts and hockey pucks for debris-free solar panel mounting. They also have exterior storage compartments and a reliable Honda generator for additional power.
    Advice for Aspiring Bus Converters:
    Building a bus to your liking requires commitment and a willingness to learn. While there are many ways to approach a conversion, it’s crucial to design your space to meet your unique needs. When it comes to electrical work, hiring a professional is highly recommended to ensure safety.

    The interest rate has increased eight times since March of last year, to 5% now. My retirement fund has suffered greatly over the past few years due to inflation at 7% and mortgage rates at over 7.5%, so I'm wondering how older people retire and survive in such an unsteady economy. Obviously, now is not the time for me to play the long term game.

    • @AdamWright8fool
      @AdamWright8fool 2 дні тому

      I completely agree. As someone who recently retired, I had very little in retirement funds compared to my portfolio balance over the previous three years, no debt, and approximately 1.2 million in outside retirement accounts. Actually, one can only neglect rather than deny the importance of the invt-advisor. just need to conduct research to identify a reliable one.

      The important thing is to manage your money, not how much you save. It still comes down to income vs. expenses whether you work for a living or invest, so sure, you might check into financial consultants for a plan that works for you.

      @ms_jon1 2 дні тому

      That's really interesting. I have a shrinking portfolio; how can I get in touch with the invt-advisor that is helping you?

      for information on investing, insurance, ensuring retirement is adequately funded, and exploring strategies to provide a volatility buffer for investment risk, you'll probably get more information if you do an internet search for her

    It couldn't be more perfect. Yes, a real bedroom door in an additional one for the son is brilliant for everyone's privacy. I'v heard more than once on other bus videos comments from older kids that are not fond of parent bedroom activities. Smart planning.

    Personally speaking as a man who lives in a house with dual bay sinks and had an RV with dual bay sinks, I would rather have ONE BAY. Especially with pan handles, gets so annoying cleaning them in a dual bay. Never cooked on my RV, only used it once and my crippling social anxiety prevented me from using it again. In the process of selling it.
