this didn't really tell us much honestly.
but that said, imo, the OM5 is maybe the best all around vocal mic under $200- extremely transparent and especially great for male vocals. Never had a singer complain about it being provided on stage. up there with a senny 935.
The VX5 is amazing- truly a best kept secret. no idea why this mic was never marketed better. it should be super popular. anyone who wants a crystal clear, true reproduction on their voice on a live stage really needs to give one a try. feedback is really a non issue... like the other OM mice (esp. 5 and up) the hyper-cardiod pick up pattern is something you have to be able to work with. you must stay right on it all the time. not something to hand a novice. I so want to see what a VX10 is like but no way am I paying for one.. the vx5 is fantastic and I don't see how could be that much better and worth that much more. can fine a review on one because I don't think anyone has ever bought one. but totally worth buying for anyone who cares about clean, uncolored vocal reproduction.
the OM2 is serviceable but a little lack-luster compared to the other 05+ mics and the vx5. i have used them but would not but one again since you get so much more by spending a bit more on an OM5.
haven't used the higher tier mics but some say that the OM6 is great on female vocals. and I though I read that the 7 and 11 have even tighter polar patterns, respectably, and therefore require even more attention when it comes to staying right on the mic.
Very nice video, clear and concise.
You did great I went straight out and bought one
I have an OM2 and a VX5. I love the crisp clarity of Audix mics. Definitely want to get another one, just don't know which to get next?
I've had the Audix OM-3xb for over twenty years and have loved it. Recently I pulled it out of its' box after a bit of a hiatus for it and dialed it on an RME UFX. Running out of the RME is two Mackie HR824 mkii and the Audix sounds phenomenal.
Not sure what I did to get so lucky and some of it was a touch of a fluke but I can't believe how amazing it sounds.
Still wondering why the Red Hot Chilli Peppers aren't on your artists' list. Guess they don't want people to know their "Secret Sauce" :P
Cheers to a great product
I have the same mic, it was only produced for a couple of years in the 90's and then discontinued.
I wondered why they don't make this variant anymore.
I've used the OM-5 for over 10 years. I have bought new mics to replace it because I get the itch for something new. However, I am still using the OM 5 and the other mics are on a shelf. I can't recommend Audix enough.
Just got mine. Hoping it fixes my feedback problem
it DID. now ill say this....at the same time i got the mic i got a gate/processor as well and by using both.....absolutley no feedback. cant say if it was just the mic.....but i do love the mic n my feedback is history now@@thegoodguy44
Where’s the OM11 bruh???
Om-7 have less dynamics and more plosive, so beware.
Just don’t drop the om5
So... every mic is great for every purpose, except for the OM 6 you need to actually know how to sing? Now I'm more confused than before...
I think it's great that you've made this comparison video, but this video makes it seem like any mic will do for any situation. Would love to see a more in-depth comparison of your microphones!
