apparently it's for today's standards. I remember watching it when I was young and it was pretty normal, but I tried showing the movie to 4th graders and the girls started screaming.
@@ramiabdo5953 Really? Well, I guess many things are scary or too much for kids now. My older brothers and sisters were kids when they saw movies in the 70s and 80s. A lot of people can't take movies and TV shows from back then. It bothers them too much. haha

Why do you think "cancel culture" exists? They expect their mommies to change the world, if there's anything that upsets them, which is _everything._ They've entered a world where they think they should automatically get everything handed to them, an if not they want it "canceled".

The original title was Harry Potter & the Philosopher's Stone, but it was felt the word "Philospher's" would confuse or turn off potential audience members in the US, hence "'Sorcerer's Stone."
... There's a good reason Harry goes back to his cousins every year, but you'll have to wait a few books to find out. Just know there's a reason. :)
It was done for the books of course so the movies had to follow suit either way. I suspect it was thought a philosopher was more boring than a sorcerer. At least it had its correct title where I live, and after the success of book 1 there was never felt to be a need to change the title for any other books. A philosopher's stone has meaning in myth from before Harry Potter, but they felt the need to change it anyway.
They never actually explain why harry has to go back to his aunt and uncle in the movies.

Great reaction ladies. Thanks for sharing. I have a little easter egg that J.K. added to the movie just for fans that was a hint about everyone's favorite bad guy Snape. The first thing Snape asks Harry is “Potter! What would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?” According to Victorian Flower Language, asphodel is a type of lily meaning ‘My regrets follow you to the grave’ and wormwood means ‘absence’ and also typically symbolized bitter sorrow. If you combined that, it meant ‘I bitterly regret Lily’s death’.

Exactly right. The "Mirror of Erised" shows eaxctly that. "Erised" is "Desire" backwards". I imagine that it's few amongst us who wouldn't be captivated by this mirror. It shows us our deepest heartfelt wants. No wonder people have watsed away sitting in front of it.

Hey, Homies. I really loved this movie a whole lot for my birthday. I thought it was surprisingly magical. The acting, visual effects, costumes, and performance were great. Although, it may be too scary or frightened. Anyway, it was a terrific achievement, as it adapts its source material faithfully, while condensing the novel's overstuffed narrative into an involving and often downright exciting. A strongly recommendation for me on "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone", and Happy 20th Anniversary!

The fun when you read a Harry Potter's book , is that is built like crime and investigate - police mystery down by the cloak of magic ! Very unique procession . J. K. Rowling is genious , not unique , the horcruxes that were in both books 6 and 7 were part of the Lord of the Rings first ! Tolkin was a great inspiration for all writers! I' m a Rovenna Ravenclaw 's house guy !
Sir Richard Harris was an exceptional Albus Dumbledore , for the first 2 films of course, because he died and Michael Gabon took his place from 3rd film and on ! RIP , Sir Richard ! A great veteran actor ! The chess game in dungeons was a legit momment ! From chess playing view of course! Ron is a professional chess playmaker ! The partide opened with a Sicillian deffence and Ron made his magic ! Loved that!

They really should have let Harry pass-out from being strangled and then have Quirrell turn to dust. The way they do it here, though more climactic, is less accurate to later on when Harry starts seeing those thestrals.

It's all most 12:30 am. Can't sleep. Fell while doing yard work for a friend $10hr. When I landed I landed on a thick branch knee first then the rest of the shin. Most likely it's going to bruised some but I can still walk on it. I've been out of my pain medication for 3 months not to mention my diabetic minutes and my blood pressure medicine. Watching 4 attractive women watching a movie I like to watch over and over . I can make movie theater popcorn at home. I have a popcorn machine like they used to make. Where do senior guys reaction and and seeing if you like the same parts I did
