We are the leaders of tomorrow. We are the ones to have the fun. We want control. We want the power. Not gonna stop until it comes. (Chorus) We are not Jesus Christ. We are not fascist pigs. Fate and our destiny we shall rule. (Chorus) I am the one who brings you the future. I am the one who buries the past. A new species rises up from the ruins. I am the one who is made to last
I read an interview with the singer,Penelope Houston. She said the lyrics were tongue in cheek,a satire of fanatical movements and their sycophants. The Avengers thought it was hilarious people took the lyrics so seriously.
Awesome. This RocknRoll lives! Punk, Metal, and Hardcore is over. Update: Her politics we're kind of Socialist in the 70s, but I think she's just a mildly Right Republican Conservative nowadays like most RocknRollers.
In another SkyNet timeline, a T-800, resembling Penelope Houston, was paired with another T-800, looking like Arnold, and then both sent back to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor just before she gave birth to her infant son, John. The narrative was titled, The Terminators. 🤖
Marvel really dropped the ball by not adding this one into it's repertoire. I mean Iron Man had Sabbath and Suicidal Tendencies and Spiderman had the Ramones for obvious reasons.
"We are not Catholic, We are not communist, We are the one!" How could anyone miss the hilarious irony there? This is a perfect example of pure American-style New Wave. Our English brothers and sisters called it "post-punk," but we didn't. All of that, plus it's a great song!
@@profd65 it still sounds like it so what's your point; same chord progression. Dufus!, lame 🤣name calling🎶 You are such a stand-up comedian. God bless you and I'll pray for you anyway🙏🏾 Amen📿
its a single version, and its great. CD Records kept this album out of print since the 80s. so any version you heard other than this (single version) was off a bootleg. if you like your punk glossed over, go catch yourself some Parisnore garbage. very clean and highly produced.
Thanks, Mr. Andrew Garfield for this reccomendation!
This band was awesome, didn't even know them until I saw them open for The Damned last night.

Brilliant song from 1977. I'm used to the 45 version. This version sounds too clean.
The version is my favorite

Punk '77 from u.s.a.
Damn!!!, great Audio quality!!!
you have to start it at .75 speed then end up at just a bit above normal speed to get the effect of my turntable and really enjoy it
Their guitarist was killer...left to form the Rondos.... saw them at the Mab ..and opening for the Clash
Wasnt the guitarist with Chris Isaak for years

No wonder Andrew Garfield Spiderman thought Avenger is a band, 😂 before Avenger become popular. Avenger was actually a band,
Tom: You dont have avengers?
was this a newer mix or redone? it sounds much better than the one on their old album
😎

fuck yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After Richard Hell and the Voidoids, the Avengers were the greatest US punk band!
Nowhere on Utube did any still not post the original version?

We are not Jesus (Christ)
We are not Fascists (Pigs)
We are not Capitalists (Industrialists)
We are not Communists
We are the One
We r not capitalists
We r not industrialists
Egalitarianism is the opiate of the mindless.
We are not communists.
this would have worked greatly in gta v

We are not communists!
They mean they're individualist anarchists. ;)
they are avengers!!
generalmorose The only good red is a dead one. ;-)
we are the one!!
generalmorose I'm a communist
Not sure why they wouldn't have said "capitalist dogs" . . . industrialists?

They say capitalists, not Catholics.
Not new wave or post punk...this is straight up San Francisco Punk Rock
The English were the ones that were post punk. Punk came from New York City and went all over the world. The English copied it!
we r not politically correct
This sounds a lot like 'We are 138' by the Misfits.
Not really. I guess they are both in the punk genre, but they don't really sound alike other than both songs contain the lyrics "we are."
@@666psicko I have to disagree with you, but it doesn't matter because I like both songs anyway.
@happyhooliedaze I'm afraid it does, but so what! Just enjoy.
This came out in 1977, doofus. Way predates "We are 138." And the two songs are very different.

band was probably looking for sa rough sound and working with a limited budget at the time.
