Great video! The reason a generator car must be used on some trains is because both the DE24000 and the DE33000 are not equipped with HEP (Head-end power) units. This is not the case with more modern Turkish locomotives, but the DE33000 was originally ordered for freight operations.
Same here in my country, where train in my country, especially loco hauled Passengers train have generator car. In some cases there's combination of Restaurants car with Generator Car.
Great trip. The white snow around the journey is breathtaking. Talking about Generator Car, yeah in my country also have this. Sometimes it combined with Restaurant Car.
Loved the video but when did you travel? Because 16.50 TRY is worth nothing close to €2.90 anymore due to Turkeys crazy inflation. It's currently worth about 50c/43p/54¢!
Great trip! Great scenery! You could try the train in greece but now it's not worth it because since the crash it goes slower and since the floods even slower
6:00 This is something I'll never be able to understand. Why don't they stick to a seat design that is confirmed to be comfortable? Why do the manufacturers insist on their own designs that can be hit or a miss, because they are obviously not testing it enough for comfort. Why do we (people) complicate things unnecessarily?
When will you upload the DHR video?? Great video! But a train driving with an open door is giving me anxiety, as a train driver myself we strictly can't leave if a door is left open on a train with passengers, even if that means blocking the line for hours.
The Turkish railways often do this kind of weird things. The most practical explanation is that they need these two locomotives somewhere else and therefore decided to send them this way or that for some reason no electric locomotives were available.
Those TCDD Taurus Express trains look quite modern, isn't it? That said, I can't imagine why I want to sleep on these seats despite being First Class. It's great on shorter trips, but yes, sleeper carriages might be needed on overnight journeys if they offer one. The Taurus Mountains look incredibly stunning! Shame the train named after it used to run to Iraq. TCDD can bring back this service, but due to the economic crisis, I don't think it's coming anytime soon.
Turkey had trains to Syria, Iran, Iraq, Greece, Georgia and Azerbaycan. They all ceases their operations due to various reasons. Nowadays you can only connect to Bulgaria and Romania. Such a shame.
Cheap and cheery and no doubt a good travel deal. But why does cheap and cheery have to come with stinky loos and power points that don't work? Not impressed by the quality - even for such a cheap "1st Class" ticket. Thanks for the insight! Excellent video. Paul in Oz.
If the route is fully on a 200km/h high speed line why do they run diesel trains on it with an average speed of 72km/h? Build the high speed line first and get the high speed rolling stock to run on it later?
@@LucaPasini2 That makes a lot of sense and I did kinda suspect them to be emds. I was literally thinking about the vibe. The colors on the newer one are the same as the russian flag, the star and crescent moon are arranged so they look like a communist star and so on.

what have they in particular to do with trains? yay, nothing. and no, its not for every channel relevant or good to spam it too much with 'personal/local bla bla' ...

Amazing video just a quick question what's the song called at the beginning of this video called?
I love the picture window view!
When did you do this journey?
Not sure there's much point mentioning the price you paid if it has now quadrupled!

Don't travel on busses in Turkey as well. Same issue there, we just don't like safety rules it seems.
Still waiting for you to come to thailand🥰
Did you enjoy visiting Baghdad or any other places in Iraq
Given that the line appears to be electrified the entire length, why were two diesel locomotives used?

Locomotive shortages?
@@unknownperson3691 diesel is cheaper then electricity in turkey.

Interesting double coupling system, both us/Chinese/Russian as well as European in the loco. Likely they use knuckle couplers further south, or?
Nice video. Top
We have these in Budapest
Bro if you wonder: how much can I get bored in a train?
Just ride the Halkalı-Edirne Train and you just get it
Could not believe how quiet the train was. It appeared empty.
100 km in 1 hr 24 min, all on high speed lines? That seems fairly... leisurely. They must have plenty of spare capacity

UA-cam income.
I think we will get rid of these old train sets thanks to the newly produced domestic train sets.
These TVS 2000 coaches are already domestic built

No worries price may have quadrupled, but lira down to the fifth 😎

When you can spell RAILWAY correctly.

A mini referendum was held for the color theme
the collapse of the Lira means that 16 Lira is now less than 50p 😅

$3.30.
Turkey is insane
Yeah, in the Netherlands I pay €2,90 for a one way ten minute S-Bahn like train.
It's actually about €0.50 now due to the insane Turkish inflation
you cannot have paid 16 lira for the ticket since 1 usd is 30 lira.
