I don't play atelier but it seems like all of their battle BGMs are meant to make you enjoy the battles instead of making you feel tense, truly beautiful

I've marathoned the games since I finished Ryza and Ryza 2. Music like this is in the Mysterious trilogy- Sophie, Fris and Lydie Suelle! Perfect time too since Sophie 2 is on the way!
For me Ryze is a total letdown, all the others have superior story, characters (by a large margin), OST, alchemy, gameplay and - for me - battle system. This forced "real time" in Ryza is bullshit, you can only have so much action points, and can't control all 3 characters at all. Even if you did, you can't get an edge over using a single char's all AP, and the AI just can't use them for whatever reason - either spam all your AP or just autoattack. It's total shit, not to mention you can get every items in the most boring and unimaginative crafting in Atelier series ever, without any combining traits and the like. They basically tried to make up for a creative and exciting system by having like eight additional steps for upgrading, recrafting and whatnot items, but ended up being simply tedious yet boringly easy to max out their trees. Ryza: 2/10, other Ateliers range from 7/10 to 10/10.

Firis is interesting because it has some of the highest highs and lowest lows of any Atelier OST.
Personally it's my favorite overall.

If someone play Firis, play Sophie first. Sophie story is not really important, but Sophie character is so nice developed through the series.

I am very fond of the Mysterious trilogy. Even among the Atelier games, I love their brightness and getting lost in exploration.
