- This John A. Miller double out & back wooden coaster opened in 1921, making it the seventh oldest roller coaster in the world and the fourth oldest in the United States. Did you know that the station and lift hill had to be rebuilt in 1953 when a fire damaged the coaster and burned down the rest of the park?
Lagoon is located north of Salt Lake City in Farmington, Utah.

I don't care what people say about this ride, it's still one of my favorites.
Edit: I don’t remember ever making this comment, but my opinion still stands
Same
I agree, some people say it’s just a little kid ride, but it’s gotta be one of the best there, if not the best.
yes same
same i live right next to this park
This ride was my first ride i went on. But now everytime i go to lagoon this is the first ride i go on. This ride is best experienced from the very back seat. In the very back with the bumps u can get crazy air.
just go on cannibal
Sooooo.... I’ll sit near the front then! (Coming from someone trying to overcome their fear of rollercoasters)
me too cuz it's closest
This was the first big ride I've ever been on too, I was so scared because I had never been on a big roller coaster but now it is my favorite one! And it's encouraged me to go on bigger rides 😜
This ride actually gives some really good airtime at the end. If you leave some room with the restraints, you'll be practically standing up on some of those hills. Underrated ride imo. I have 2nd at Lagoon behind Cannibal
bro that’s so true everytime i rode this ride i practically flew out but it’s a lot of fun🌚
This is one of the top 5 oldest roller coasters in the USA
7th in the world
@@Oli.V yeah isn’t that crazy Utah only has one amusement park but has a actually fun wooden coaster and very old one
I like the name. Simple and straight to the point XD
Everyone here calls it the white roller coaster
You really think it's a roller coaster?
@@owl448 or old whitie cause it used to be white.
Always confused when people say “I want to ride on roller coaster” and I’d be like which
You know, actually, for a ride built in 1921 that looks... like it was built in 1921.
areteees did you know that's not the original because it got burnt down twice, so they had to rebuild it.
I thought it was only burned down once
sad vibes only a couple of sections got burned down not the whole thing
Only parts got burnt, so they result those, but then it got dangerous so they rebuilt it all
It's so scary
After being spoiled by smooth, steel tracks and modern wood coasters, Roller Coaster feels very jarring on the turnarounds. Considering it's 100 years old in 2021, and in the top 10 oldest in the world, it was an extremely wild ride in it's day.
Roller coaster still competes with wicked and cannibal. Something about its ruggedness and swaying with the wind makes it so enjoyable.
Being born in this area, I have fond memories of the coaster. Part of its charm, is the wood and how it creaks and makes you think it is going to fall apart at any second!
My mother almost died on this ride in like the mid 80's. It was the time when the seatbelt metal bar thing was meant for everyone instead of individually, she sat next to a bigger person then her and the bar didn't even touch her, she was hanging on for dear life as the ride went on.
This ride in the back seat is awesome it has so much airtime I got back row night ride and it was so cool :)
Fun fact, at the start of the ride there is a sign that says "please do not stand up". If you look up deaths at lagoon in Utah, back when this ride opened a drunk guy insisted that he be allowed to ride the ride while standing up. Sure enough he died and I am guessing that is why that sign is there.
OK who's the jerk playing the kazoo throughout the entire ride?
Me
What kazoo?
Unknown
Ur too young
M e
XD
This is so fun!! Me and my cousin went on it 6 times!! There was no line! The only thing, it rattles A LOT so it’s not the best if you get motion sickness easy
Try a GCI if you think classics are bumpy
When you forgot to change the name of the roller coaster in RCT3.
“Rollercoaster 1 looks too intense for me!”
I'm not going on Roller Coaster 1 while it's raining.
Best roller coaster I've ever gone on. My
Favorite!!!
Saturn_Devouring go on cannibal don’t waste your life on roller coast r
Lil Lil What's wrong with riding a classic?
I just noticed that they've totally rebuilt not only the lift hill but the short section of track before it since I last went to Lagoon. Last time I rode this in person, the wheels used to squeak like the brakes of a Semi truck on the latter.
I don’t know if they rebuilt it, but they did get some new trains recently that are a lot lighter and make the ride way smoother. New trains would have new wheels so that’s probably why
Roller Coaster looks too intense for me!
Aaron Carnes are you serious? I’ve ridden kiddy coasters more intense than this.
Chase Buccaran rct reference
OOOOHH that makes so much more sense
Aaron Carnes it's honestly not that exciting
Lol it’s not intense it’s just bumpy. I’ve ridden it many times before :p
Love the name. So creative...
It's actually "The White Coaster" but the locals here in Utah just call it Rolled Coaster
@@user-xm2tq8sk2m unfortunately you are incorrect, its original name was “lagoon dipper” then it was changed to rollercoaster, it was white at one point and all the locals called it white roller coaster cause it fit the look.
An oldie, but a goodie.
Who has the kazoo?
Iain Hendry it was me 😯😯😯😯😯😯
Lol
What kazoo are you talking about?
M e
This ride is scary cause it sounds like something is about to break the entire time
That's part of the fun!
I love This ride more like a relaxed ride
Right off the bat, it’s super jerky
I still love it
looks pretty smooth in terms of a 100+ year old coaster
this is my favorite wooden coaster
I don’t think it’s a kazoo it might be the wind 💨 coming through the holes 🕳 in the camera 📷
I can tell this guy was struggling to play the kazoo, it sounded so stupid yet so funny.
I think the next oldest woodie to this is the Big Dipper at BPB 1923
You mean the one that killed everyone who rode it?
I almost fell out of this ride lol.
1921 WOW!
She’s really old, but she’s still standing and operating!
With jvm the new trains you get so much ejector on the turn arounds!
2:15 8yrs ago it looked like this… but now on the complete other side 😂
That first drop had me tearing up. I couldn’t even control my scream it just came out and it was so high pitched like lmao
It was also my friend’s first rollercoaster ever so that’s cool
Um, no you get more airtime in the back dude, any roller coaster with airtime
I love this ride
The Roller coaster!! my family and I call it the White Roller Coaster!! Did you know it was actually MOVED to Lagoon??
First time seeing a roller coaster that's literally called Roller Coaster. I guess the owners couldn't come up with an awesome name.
+TDPNeji In the 1920s it was normal to call a roller coaster "Roller Coaster" because often it was the only roller coaster, so you mustn't differ them by special names.
+5thElem3nt - Makes sense. Wow, this coaster is almost a century old and still functioning. But according to the description, it was rebuilt.
My Grandpa is nearly a century old and he's still running.
+Dawson's mini movies I still call it the white roller coaster!
Nickelodeon Streak at BPB was called Roller Coaster from 1933 - 2010.
My favorite
What an amazing name (Roller Coaster), btw
That ride scared me the most 😂
scarier than Cannibal 😂
XIT Studios how exactly cannibal has a drop at a 96° angle being the largest drop to have that
Yeah for me to scarier because it’s so old and anything could happen. I know they replace the wood but it still scares meh sometimes. Ps I love the cannibal.
tritto *116 degrees actually
@@delilah3249 close enough
tritto not even 😂 don’t say facts on UA-cam without researching
wow. That name is even worse than Goliath.
+THE SMELLYS Well back then, there were so few roller coasters that they didn't need names to distinguish themselves since they were few and far between. Now, coasters are all over the place so naming each one Roller Coaster would be very confusing. "Hey I wanna ride the roller coaster. Will you go on with me?"
"Sure!"
"I didn't mean the Vekoma Boomerang!"
"What did you think I meant?"
"The Intamin giga over there."
See my point? It was fine back then but it sounds weird to us now.
Yeah thats true
THE SMELLYS But then again, the name of that coaster at New York, New York in Las Vegas is Roller Coaster. They should have at least come up with something semi-original for that.
Yes I thought there was another one named roller coaster I just couldn't remember it. I'm saying this is worse than Goliath because well goliath has been used like 10 times. Surprisingly i've only ridden one.
THE SMELLYS Surprisingly, I haven't ridden a Goliath. And also, I say Goliath is worse because I don't think there that many coasters called Roller Coaster
When it did not burn down it was really old and rusty but the new one is cool
I didn't know bees are allowed on coasters
I know you mean the noise, but for YEARS there were always bee’s at the top of the lift hill, never could figure out why
Cool!
2:01 wow spider looks so different as if right now
Did you know that this use to be called "The Lagoon Dipper"
Should’ve kept it like that
@ReinCoasterAddict | EXACTLY!
Looks a lot like the blue streak
It’s a nice simple and fun roller coaster, but fuck it is rickety and shakes you around 😂
Should be named "The Rattler!" Is it 2 ply?
Never, there's already a Rattler
Did you know that this roller coaster started a 🔥
One time there was no line for this ride I went on it like 10 times in a row
What how
i want to go on this 😻
trust me it's more thrilling than it looks
It's changed so much...
Especially the trains
I’ve been on this coaster
Talk about square or even worse triangle wheels. This thing sounds like a jackhammer!
The ride Is super fun All Tho It’s Pretty old
ikr its so fun
Vekoma Woody lol
What kind of ride is this again?
Mason Rauch it's a ride called Roller Coaster no pun atended. It's one of my favorite ride and Lagoon.
Wafflepanda6942013 it was a joke
Idk, maybe a Larson super loop?
Vekoma Boomerang.
Tilt-a-Whirl as the name obviously implies.
too bad you didn't go on and catch it one of the times it stops halfway up the hill lmao
I used to run this ride, it always had trouble for some reason
Oh wow, I remember the station being that way when I was a kid.. and now it is completely reversed.
Yeah they switched sides recently! They gave it a makeover in preparation for the 100 year anniversary (this year! 2021) and got it some new trains that are lighter and way smoother. Big improvement in my books.
1:49 hurts so bad in fromt
its way different from 2021 then 2015 lol
This shouldnt have been my 1st roller coaster, it wasnt bad, just painful...
Charlene Delos Reyes what do you recommend?
When I was a kid I thought it was way more painful then it is now. Kids have no inbuilt padding and are too light and bounce around. It’s a fantastic coaster and I never come off feeling banged up now, just maybe not ideal for kids
what type of ride is rollercoaster again?
+Kyle Gardner i think it's a boat ride.
Coaster Universe yeah i guess
+Kyle Gardner It's a Wooden Coater guys, where did you get log flume from?
+Jaskiewicz we are joking about the name of the coaster
well it might be a Roller Coaster. but I'm not sure
It is almost as if the cart wheels are pitted and flat, holy shit that thing is shaky and rattles a lot.
They got new trains recently and it’s 😘👌
Hell yeah
this is the reason they rebuilt the rattler at six flags san Antonio cause it hurt people
While it looks jerky, it’s not actually that painful. When I was a kid I got thrown a little but it’s no issue now that I weigh more then 40 pounds. The only spot that I’m ever concerned about is the break, that lap bar will sucker punch you if you’re not paying attention
They originally called it lagoon dipper so that cool I guess
I rode in this
But... Why is it called Roller Coaster?
Lagoon dipper was its first name ever and since then its had over 10 name so they gave up and just named it Roller Coaster
This is something I don't get wooden coaster 61 foot drop and a bunch if turns and they jamed it roll er coaster I really thought they could think of a better name
The name has changed a few times, it was the lagoon dipper for a while because the name was too basic. It’s been rollercoaster all my life, one to pay homage to its original name and it’s age, and two, because everyone local calls it the white rollercoaster no matter what it’s named so at least that’s close
This roller coaster is really old and part of it burned down once
Welcome to the under 301 club how tough are ya
+Colby decraps ... I'm just gonna leave...
Looks rough, let’s RMC it!
Not as rough as you think and lagoon takes great care of it I don’t want aRMC of it
And got new trains in 2018
Someone should make an rct3 ct for this coaster.
I had to take the walk of shame on this ride. Everybody was laughing, it was embarrassing.
I remember riding this
I saw you here ._.
101 years old now
Alright, who took out their kazoo on the ride
sounds like sooty and sweep are riding this
Is it just me or is there a LOT of RMC topper track on this ride?
Bennett Veith i hope your joking
I understand why it would look like that on the ride, but it’s not. It’s technically a historical monument in the states eyes and if they added topper track there would be outrage. Also, if you’ve ridden it, you and your butt both know there isn’t any topper track
I doubt the roller coaster will still be standing when it turns 200 years old in 2121 haha
Every roller coaster looks smooth from afar but Not all of them are smooth on ride
I got sick on this but not on any of the other rides lmao.
Why don't they paint it?
The wood is treated my chemical impregnation now a days (like most wooden coasters) and unless they had really sturdy paint, the paint could trap water and threaten wood rot. That, and it would be merely cosmetic and be a pretty costly effort given they’d likely have to do it every year with no added benefits to the ride besides aesthetics
to think that this was the first roller coaster i ever rode...
If we’re not counting puff the magic dragon across the park, same
I think this is the ride someone got decapitated on by standing up on the top of the chainlift
Is it just me or is there a seizure coming on?
Yeah it's faster in the back seat
fortunate fool I think it's faster in the front, but
more intense in the back.
Howling Burd19 the back makes the drop feel faster
1:26 Topper track?
I think all the classic woodies should be retrofitted with RMC’s wood topper track
@@kevinthompson6986 That really doesn't answer my question, but agreed.
Jason Hook I know tremors does have topper track section smoothest part of the ride but it’s near rmc’s plant
Nope, it’s wood, though I will admit it looks like it in the video. This is a classic and technically a historical monument (there’s a plaque and everything) so I don’t think they’d ever even try to do something like that
sounds like it needs grease
So painful
That coaster is too rough cannibal’s way better but I still like roller coaster
