Banchero looks like he'll be the better number 1 option. But Chet's game mixes perfectly with any star. He's a two way center that stretches the floor, and his offensive game isnt even fully developed yet.
I think that’s exactly the correct opinion. The question also becomes is Paolo good enough to be the lead dog on a championship team. Because if he’s not then I’d rather have the guy who’s better served to be the number 2.
@@michaelturley3457”Correct opinion” is an oxymoron, clown.
This and Chet has not gotten the opportunity like he would in Orlando to even show off his full arsenal on offense. I reckon Chet would have averaged easily close to 20 ppg like Paulo did his rookie year because Chet already averaged 16.5 ppg in under 30 mpg as the 3rd option on a contender.
@@Byronic19134there's a reason why he became 3rd option and not second option to the guy who is paolo's roty runner up lol
Chet plays a role on a good young team. Paolo is the #1 option on a good young team!
As an OKC fan is Paolo
Glad to have Bill on UA-cam
If it was announced that Orlando and OKC had done a straight swap between Paolo and Chet, both fanbases would be rightfully upset.
Paolo is better than Chet. What a dumb argument.
He has a worse team and has to be the first option is younger and also is a clear potential mvp and has best player in the league for a whole year status if he can lead a team to a title
It’s Banchero and it’s not close right now
You guys are still underrating Paolo
How he’s been inconsistent most the season Juss like he has these playoffs he just had a stinker and they still won convincingly he’s rated fine
I love other cities that celebrate conference finals appearances. In LA? It’s title or go home.
@@naz1439he’s been the most consistent player on the magic all season and an all star
@@naz143922.6/7/5.5 as a 610 sophomore? Are you stupid? And he has put up some of the best stats in playoffs for 21 and under in NBA history. 39 in the last game.
You’re just yappin
@@naz1439this shit aged like milk left out in the sun.
This conversation is a comparison of Rasheed Wallace(tremendous defensive player with offensive skills, but not a true 1st option) vs a Chris Webber(offensive hub, but limited defensive impact despite the physical profile) that’s the Chet vs Paolo argument in my eyes.
Exactly & the right answer was prime CWebb all day
If Paolo is Webber in this scenario he’s much better defensively than Webber ever was right now.
This not a debate man too many non basketball guys in media. Banchero future mvp candidate.
So one guy is a number 1 option and the other is more like a 2-3 and the second guy is better in some way?
So the nuance is that one guy has to be the number 1 option - because he needs the ball that much - but that doesn’t necessarily mean he is a superstar. See for example, Zach Lavine - he’s a number one option but he doesn’t win games. Whereas you can have a number 2 or 3 option who doesn’t need the ball that much but can contribute more to wins through defence, spacing, etc, things that don’t require the ball. Does that make sense? (And I’m not suggesting Banchero will be as bad as lavine, just an example).
@@htown11465lol lett see in the long run haha mark this word
They should have waited til the end of the first round for this conversation. It’s not even close. Chet is a good role player (3rd or 4th) option on offense. Paolo is the #1 offensive option, leads his team in rebounds, and assists. The 2 players are on very different levels. I can’t believe this was even a debate
Paolo is huge, as well as being a great player. I really didn't realize how a big Paolo is, especially in his legs and trunk area.
Easy conclusion -banchero #1 option franchise player superstar
Chet-elite roleplayer ala Draymond green
It’s not a discussion. Both turned out to be as good as people hoped and that still lands Paulo #1 and Chet #2. Chet looks great playing off SGA, Williams, and Giddey and if you put Paulo next to them they would have been even better than they were both last year and this year. If you put Chet next to Frans Wagner I don’t think we are looking at Chet this way and I doubt they make the playoffs as they would still be looking for that leader/ #1 option.
I think it all depends on need and fit. If youre a team with not alot of talent and need THE guy whose gonna carry your team Paolo is for you. But if you already have a talented team and need someone to add to that Chet is better. I think Paolo is the better number 1 option but Chet is the better number 2-3 option.
Interestingly, the Thunder may have drafted their future #1 option with the 12th pick (JDub).
Yay, I like this
Paolo is definitely better than Chet. Ain’t no way Orlando makes the playoffs with Chet
JDub over both of them 🤷♂️
@@bkelly625 not a chance
@@datruth9078 Lol are you sure about that? He was ahead of Paolo in every important advanced stat and more efficient and is better on defense. Two years ago ppl told me I was insane for saying SGA could be better than Trae Young just saying…
Right now yes but long term no Chet is gonna be the long term best player of the draft. Shot blocking, Outside Shooting, and efficient player
@@bkelly625Stop. There’s a reason J-Dub is so efficient. He’s not the #1 option. Great player but he doesn’t initiate the offense enough to even be in the conversation with Banchero. You kids gotta stop just looking at numbers.
I didn’t expect this video to go as it did. Do these guys watch the nba
Not to.mention.banchero is built like a tank for nba basketball and chet is the archetype of tall lanky injury prone player that already has the history to back it up in year one
chet just played all 82 games, casual
I'm sorry did chet not miss his entire first year because of an injury that happened before he even played his first NBA game? Have we seen players with his build have serious injury concerns THROUGH THEIR CAREER? None of that is false. He has missed as.many games as many games as he has played to this point in the regular season. Casual fool @@user-tn6ht1gv6e
@@user-tn6ht1gv6eI mean to be fair Banchero played 80 games 🤷🏾♂️
Paulo is better than Chet and it's not even close right now and i think it'll remain the same. Chet I don't think will ever be a proper number one option
i think a better question is jdub or paolo bc their games are much more similar than chet and paolo
taytum could add making clutch shots to his bag, thatd be good
Is Bill capable of not bringing up Tatum in a discussion about the nba ?
Saying a #2 option is a better player than a #1 option is insane.
Also, PB is a way better shooter than BG. Blake was dunking everything. Remember lob city?
I’m sorry are you under the impression that if paolo played with shai paolo would be the number one option on that team? Gtfooh.
@@Primenumber19 exactly 😂😂 the logic there is interesting
I think some players are more valuable as a fantastic 2nd or 3rd option that blend seamlessly with anyone than others that are a borderline 1st option but essentially bottleneck the team because they aren't quite on the level of the bona fide 1s.
Paolo is on the running for worst #1 option in the league
@@evanwrenn402he lead one of the youngest teams in the league to a 5 seed and they’re in a competitive series. He has no point guard and no teammate averaging 20 ppg. Super dumb take
Its wemby vs chet..paolo is in his own league from his draft class
...
I think they’re are neck and neck. Paolo is just better at scoring. But I think Chet’s scoring isn’t needed as much yet. It will blossom soon. Im a Seattlelite and watched Paolo for a while. Watched him and Chet go at it at Jamal’s pro am. They are the future. And perfect for their respective teams. Comparison is the theif of joy.
A better argument was who was better their first year playing (technically rookie year)? Chet for sure
You're either delusional or a casual.
That’s not true. Banchero was a really good for a rookie last year. Also, he didn’t have a full off-season of nba training like Chet had before his “First season”.

No way Chet is the number 1
Paolo is miles better y’all clearly don’t watch Magic games.
Exactly. Even Okc is better with paolo
The fact we get Jaylin with Chet is better glad it worked for both teams
Paolo way better as the guy. Chet is not a primary option type guy.

Obviously Chet but Paolo is great in his own right. Paolo ISO ball is just bad sometimes but it’s a win win situation.
Chet is a secondary option, will be a really good player but it’s not really a comparison. Paolo is the #1 option on a playoff team in his 2nd year.
Chet all day
Both Chet and Paolo made their team 1 million times better than Wemby made his
???
Lmao I have a feeling you’re a Chet fanboy because Wemby live rent free in y’all head. Especially since he cooked Chet twice. What does Wemby have to do with this? Wemby was drafted a year after both of them.
Chet better
I think JDub will be the best player from 2022 class
Second to Paolo
I agree that Paolo has the higher potential ceiling but I'm not as convinced that he actually gets there. His rebounding worries me a bit and I don't get a vibe that he's ever going to be an efficient scorer. Chet might be capped more but it feels like he will be the best non superstar on basically any team in the league for the next decade with a shot at actually being a superstar. People still act like he's going to struggle because of his size when he's already proven that's not an issue at all and he's still got the potential to be an elite scorer. We just don't get to see him be the guy when you got 2 of the best in the league with SGA and Jdub
worry about chet's rebounding instead with all that height
I prefer Carlos Alcaraz over both.
Chet good but he only better than paolo on defense! Give me paolo all day nothing this kids cant do! If bron and melo had a baby it would be paolo
Real argument to be had that OKC picked the 2 best players in the draft
U'd likely lose that argument 95% of time but how damn good Jalen Williams can look @ times gives this a saving grace of merit. JDub is a big-time gamer, kid really gives no fux
Definitely not true
Chet’s not a number 1 guy though
Paolo is _so_ inefficient though. He was the 2nd worst in the league in 2022/23 and11th worst this season. Historically guys who are this bad in their first 2 years don't become efficient and they just stay around that range.
Maybe he can be an outlier, but the way people just dismiss it as a given that he'll become a good shooter is crazy. The reality is, most players don't become radically better shooters in their career.
You talking about his rookie year for what? His numbers this year are improved and much more efficient
@@MaxJulien2701 rookie years don't count? Chet's a rookie and is an above average shooter.
Sure, Paolo is "improving" but still was the 11th worst shooter in the entire league this year. So no, he wasn't "much more efficient' he was still bad.
The history of guys who are this bad efficiency wise in year 1 and 2 turning into even league average shooters is not good.
He's a red shirt rookie. There's no way Chet would have these numbers last year.
Paolo has to do EVERYTHING for us. Shai makes Chet's life much easier. Doesn't have to work as hard.
@@SynthTerror if you listened to Magic fans, Paolo apparently is the only player in the league that plays by himself. He has it harder than everyone, it's Paolo going 1v5 with the opponent every night.
I don't think you understand how inefficient Paolo is, he finished with the same efficiency numbers as Jordan Poole, a guy that people are wondering if he can even stay in the league.
@andrewshandle I can see that you have a raging hard-on for Chet, but you haven't acknowledged the Shai variable at all in your analytical ramblings.
Chet>
Paolo is by far the better player. Magic dont make the playoffs if he has Chet's numbers. Chet is the B version of Wemby, a solid role player whose stats look great next to an MVP.
Paolo is already a #1. Chet will never be the better player on his team
Let Chet face Jokic 🤣🤣
I’d take jdub and Chet over paolo in both situations you are mentioning, jdub as a 1 and Chet as a 2.

The answer is Chet. Assuming health, OKC has the best young core and draft pick situation of any team in NBA history
Paolo on/off -7.3 per 100 possessions, his team is worse on both offense and defense when he's on the bench or misses games. Chet is +2.2.
Paolo _looks_ the part, that's why everyone thinks he's so good. But until he can score at an even league average efficiency, he won't be a winning player.
If Chet had to be THE guy, he would fold
@@SynthTerror while that's a cool imaginary scenario that's in your head, responding to facts with made up hypotheticals doesn't change anything.
“Not a winning player” leading an awful offensive team to 47 wins in your second season seems pretty good
@andrewshandle I don't give a fuck about analytics. That's for nerds. I'm going by the eye test and what I see is Chet paired with a top 3 player in the league, who makes EVERYONE'S life easier, not to mention a supporting cast that includes Jaylen Williams (the good one), and I can extrapolate from that that he wouldn't be as "effective" if he were forced to be the guy.
@@jrg46 they were worse with him on the court then off, and by a huge margin. The reason they won 47 games is guys like Suggs improved and an elite defense.
Chet is better. Banchero has to prove he can be a more efficient scorer.
Banchero 10x better
Chet needs to prove he can be the top guy on his own team first. And then lead them to the playoffs.
As a Thunder fan, Paolo is the better player. Chets efficiency comes from having the best core around him to take wide open shots and little to no shot creating on his own. Legit 3/10 times he tries to put the ball on thr floor I cringe cause he usually trips up because of how low he tries to get. Also, when he's hit with any physicality, his offense game takes a hit. His ability to stay out of foul trouble and his rim protection/alter shots is his most consistent trait
😂😂😂

Best case for Paulo is third best player on a legit good team. Paolo inefficient and not clutch
