@@lowiecantgreen9496 It went well. I passed and landed my first IT job. I actually scored higher than my Core 1. I was very uncertain and didn't have a lot of confidence going into testing because I was very busy with moving and preparing for my first child. I had to pass, before they would officially hire me. I crammed a lot in those days leading up to it! Thankfully, the test was not as challenging as I had anticipated but still tough. The questions were very broad and much less specific than expected. Just be sure to know your basic security concepts and best practices, and the different Windows tools. Not as much Linux and command line material. Use all of your test time, save tough questions for later, and go back through and double check all of your answers. Speed is key, don't waste time on something you aren't sure about. Andrew was certainly a huge help in getting me ready.
@@lowiecantgreen9496 I looked around for a while until I realized that there were IT opportunities available right where I was already working. Had to do some networking and talking to different heads within the company but I made it happen. Networking, talking to people, expressing a genuine interest and passion goes a long way. People will see that you need the opportunity and will want to help you succeed. Good luck to you in your search!
I loved how you explained how two answers could be correct, but one is the best answer. I’m sure that approach will definitely serve me well on the actual exam. On the core one exam, they actually omitted what would be the most common answer to the problem because they were trying to get me to follow up with what would be the next best idea of the options presented.
I truthfully got all 10 of these questions correct with no issue. However, in my studies these were the questions I excelled at, asking more specifics about the Windows 10/11 system requirements for some reason I can never seem to grasp.
6:55 I'm a bit confused on this answer. I just went through Professor Messer's video series, and he taught that you can only ever know a virus is fully gone once you do something like reinstall the operating system -- and that it would even be too late to back up things like files, which could be contaminated. Anyway, love your series so far though. Just bought your Core 1 and Core 2. *Actually it makes sense now that you would first scan to make sure that the user was correct, but at the same time, wouldn't data be an inevitable loss?
Having to take this exam for my degree plan, since my original A+ expired. Excellent video! Has my wheels turning on some of the things to brush up on. Ty!
@ryanmoran9027 I passed! It didn't go too bad and I almost got certified. Only problem is I actually took the Core 1 1001 test instead of the 1101, so now apparently I have to retake the 1101. But the video definitely helped me prep for 1102
I would always run a system scan on an endpoint first. It's quick to do. Why leave it to chance while confirming if malware is present? Doesn't make sense to me.
Commenting in at around 6:26 When did they add Vishing? For the longest time I am pretty sure this was just phishing. Why create a new catagory? //edit // Commenting again at around 10:51 No one calls is AUP They say the full words. I think you mentioned this before, but the questions are sometimes devised to trick you.
I dont like the answer to #7. If you are suspicious of an infection, you should probably remove that device from the network to spare an spread of potential malware. So, I would lean toward replace the computer with a known safe machine, and then investigate the potentially infected computer in a sterile environment. And I guess to alleviate my concern you have to think of it practically. You may not have replacement hardware in an office environment to do such.
Phishing is a generic term, often using email. Think of Vishing as Voice Phishing. So because the question dealt with a voice call, it more appropriately describes it
I was wondering the same. I bought both his 1101 and 1102 on Udemy but could not find a Network + plus course from him so I got the Network + from Jason Dion
For question 7: Wouldn't doing a system scan also verify whether the computer is infected or not? In fact, I would wager that this is more accurate than using the computer and looking for symptoms of malware. This question is poorly written in my opinion. I knew his answer would've been B, but C makes more sense in practice
Well, based on the CompTIA guidelines you pretty much have to check for symptoms to verify if theres an actual virus, and if it does, then you have to do other steps before the scan and removal. After verifying the symptoms you have to quarantine the system, disable the windows System Restore, then you start to remediate the system by updating the antivirus and performing a scan of the system (plus removing the infected files). It might seem smart to just do a scan right away but the system might not have a virus to begin with or the antivirus software might be outdated and just give you a false negative given that the software doesnt recognize the new malware. Also, its importat to know what the malware was doing in order to know what things to do during the recovery, you can remove the malware with a tool but it might have already done some other changes in the system that might require some extra tweaking during recovery.
@Claire Chiang you’re entitled to do your own method in technical terms but you have to realize there are certain steps to follow Per CompTIA. Arguing it won’t get you anywhere. Think of when you did your Drivers Test. You follow certain rules to “Pass” the drive test, but after that you pretty much maintain your own rhythm of how you drive. Fighting with questions will lead you to failing the test.
Thank you Andrew! Your A+ course really helped push my studies to the next level. Passed Core 1 and about to take Core 2
Congratulations and celebrate well
how did core 2 go?

Got them all right , taking my 1102 in a couple days!
this helped me for my 1102 exam as a final study. thank you
I just bought his course on Udemy, and it was worth it!

Hey Andrew. I enjoy your videos, I am planning to achieve my CompTIA A+ certification and I’m hoping you can make more videos
I got 8/10 and my exam planned in five days, feeling pretty good about it. I’ve got time to brush up on some final things.

You’re right, but for the exam you will need to answer that you will be investigating first and then quarantine the machine. Yes , don’t make sense. 😂
Viruses stay on the computer, worms travel. Isolation is a good idea but usually it's an isolated issue to that PC
Practical Question 5, didn't explain what is phishing. What is the difference between vishing and phishing?
Phishing is a generic term, often using email. Think of Vishing as Voice Phishing. So because the question dealt with a voice call, it more appropriately describes it
