Think my dad took me to my first oval race in Vereeniging in 1991 June three weeks after I was born. Ever since then I was at every racing there and Pretoria. I have thousands of photos of every sprint car I think till 2007. ( I remember spending all my sakgeld each week at oom Oosie vir my V8 wall at home. Oom Wild Willie was always my favorite growing up standing at the fence and each time my oor would Voken brand from getting pulled away from the fence. Then came Syd Goosen for a while and he was my other favorite as well. (Not sure what happens to him). Then there also was my other favorite Quintin Saayman but even tho watching this video I remember all of you growing up and watching you all race! Grow up with the Cockerams “oom Amos en Klein Amos en Sanna. I live across the world now in USA and I still to this day follow any monthly uploads from racing and streams. Great work and keep up the amazing content and keeping Sprintcars alive in RSA.
Love hearing these stories and how the racing impacted and shaped so many lives in this country and continues to do so. Really appreciate you sharing this it is extremely special! Thank you so much for watching and we will absolutely keep pushing for more and better content bringing the world the sprintcar action from our little corner of the globe 💛🇿🇦
Rowan!!!!! Buddy, it was good seeing you again. I have tears in my eyes. Geee you were such a great friend to us all, and you lived for your racing. I miss you. Charles Snr, Charles Jnr, Shane, Oom Willie, thanx a stack for learning so much from you, the Legends of the sport. You have so much passion for Sprints. It is a real pity that the sport has changed so much. But you guys will let it never die or become forgotten. Thanx for the shows and your determination. Keep it up, hope to race one day again with you.
Thank you for your wonderful words, Johan! Rowan was a good friend of mine. What a fantastic guy...miss him very much. I have passed your message on to the Carlsons! And thank you for watching 🙏
@@zeeliejo My name is Terry. I'm not sure if we have met yet - I was friends with Rowan and he told me I should come to a meeting with him and Shane with my camera and shoot the sprints one day... the first one I went to was The Rock on 11 September 2021. Was the first time I ever saw sprints. Then he had his accident but I decided I want to keep the show going and his dream alive. Very blessed that he introduced me to the Carlsons and this sport 🙏
@@bloodinbloodouttv Great to meet you, Terry. Yes, I used to race with the Outlaws(the Carlson group). Phew, we used to race in Polokwane (where I stay), Bosveld (Potties), Richardsbay, Klerksdorp (at the old track), every 2nd weekend at Mahem, very regular at The Rock and Rietkuil. I used to be good friends with Shane, Rowan, and Charles Snr as we used to race together every weekend and it was a great time of my life. It is fantastic to feel all that horsepower between your legs, but in the spirit of racing, we were all friends. The "politics" is very active in the sport and it is very sad. Because there are loads of racers from other clubs that want to compete and that can sometimes be problematic. Then when I used to race there was a lot of rivalry between MSA and TORC. And it was so unnecessary. But that is in the past. Unfortunately, not all promoters see the value of Sprint Car Racing and don't promote it. But any track that hosts Sprint Car racing will have a fuller audience. It's a fact. We have seen this as racers time and time again. Not to take anything away from any other class. I personally think there might be better drivers in other classes that just didn't have the opportunity to get behind a Sprint car's direction indicator. I've been very fortunate to have owned a car like that. It is a class with a rich history and many a legend has had the opportunity to race in this class. But some drivers just feel too uncomfortable to race with open wheels and therefore don't like it. It is quite scary if you race against others that you are not familiar with and you turn in on the turn together. You are not too sure how they will react and what can go wrong. Then it is only sure passion and stupidity that prevails. I think at that time of my life, I had more prayers in the corners racing with others than in any other place. But I will always stay passionate about the sport and thank you for bringing it to us who don't visit Mahem and The Rock that often. Keep up the great job. Your work is stunning.
@@zeeliejo Very well said! I love that insight so much, I hope that when you are this side at some point I can catch you on camera and ask you a few questions, it would be invaluable! Thank you so much for watching and for appreciating the work. It's my new pass time outside of actual work and I just hope to do justice and show a fair view and true nature of the sport to others.
Is there still a rotor class? My dad took me to ovals when I was a lightie... I want to take my lightie . Where and when is good sprints happening in Gauteng-aleng..
