Beautiful wood, I want one of those, I´ve spotted a not so well guarded rowboat I´ll steal and away it is! 16000 km:s can`t be that bad, it´s downhill says my map... Take care! Claes.
Bottlebrush is one of the most understated hardwood timbers Australia has to offer, I don’t think I’ve seen much of it in any wood shows I’ve ever been to. It’s also one of the hardest timbers we have here. I remember hitting a log of it once with an axe and the axe sparking it was that hard.
A timely send-up, this one! I just received my latest order yesterday and have 2 of these on hand now. And now I have a much better idea of how to proceed. Thank you for this vid!
Berry noice piece Guil. Fantastic grain & colours. Bit iffy on it being Bottlebrush but. What i've worked with only has fine streaks of red not big lumps like that. Look froward to seeing more of your work. have a good one.
Beautiful piece of wood Guil and the cup holders look great. How fragrant was that bottle wood when you were turning Guil? Stay awesome and you and yours stay healthy and safe.💖 👍 😷 🍻 ✌
Beautiful done, I've turned American bottle brush and it's a really dark purple. After watching your last video making a mug I've made 2, using gorilla glue and found that if you put tape around the edges of the wood cover and edge of cup the clean up is MUCH easier
Sweet! I love the spotting (mottling?) on the bottlebrush wood. I was lucky enough to order the ironwood (hope I remembered that right)! Stay safe, dude, keep on turning and making beautiful pieces.
Hello lovely cup wonder if you could give me a link to buy the steel inserts please would like to have a go not sure it will turn out as great as your 😊
I kind of think that must be the most beautiful piece of wood I've ever seen !!! Bottlebrush ?? I didn't realize a bottlebrush could have such a huge trunk ! Why would anyone want horrendously costly wood from other countries when we grow this stuff ourselves ?, she asked rhetorically ..
I really dig the erratic speed & sound effects at the beginning. Making one of these for Mother’s Day. As for mothers, Coffee is thicker than blood, and the most important vitamin for them. Quick question, what was the blank size you used roughly? The recommended size is 4”x4”8” but honestly it seems absurdly huge, and is a closer fit to their water bottle. Im not really sure why they do that, unless it’s for $, or to give you the ability to try out a design.
@@GuilTheBeardedWoodworker Follow up question, I’ve been trying to find a club/group, or way to meet people to exchange ideas, help problem solve and what not. Having a brittle bone disease, I’m generally quite limited. But woodturning is something I genuinely enjoy, that I may be able to make some pocket money. Not that the goal is money. But being independent, and doing whatever I can to be productive is important to me. I’m not looking for a teacher per se. But I was wondering if you were aware of any solid communities, or even individuals that don’t mind sharing what they’ve learned to someone whose still trying to learn the difference between an Ass & Jack. The shop near me, has had great folks. And even with no one’s main focus being on turning, they’re been invaluable. Sorry for getting pretty personal.
@@GuilTheBeardedWoodworker Thanks, I was kinda hoping that one was still available. I live up in Minnesota,USA and a cup made from Bottle brush would be something NOBODY else would have here. But thanks anyway.

The only reason I know it is it came from the tree out the front when council came through and cut it down

It looks like a piece of Juniper that I have here is Connecticut, USA. They look similar to cedar. But a bit more sappy and sticky when fresh.

Hope you and loved ones are well. I continue to enjoy my travel mug. Thank you!
