If you have either a waitress or a waiter interview coming up with a restaurant, hotel or eatery, make sure you prepare fully for the following interview questions:
Q. Why do you want to be a Waitress/Waiter and what can you bring to the role?
Q. What are the 7 most important things to consider when carrying out your duties as a Waitress/Waiter?
Q. Why do you want to become a Waitress/Waiter with our restaurant/eatery over the others within the local area?
Q. What skills, qualities and attributes do you have that are a match for a role as a Waitress/Waiter?
Q. Describe the steps you would go through when dealing with a customer complaint?
You Should Also Make Sure You Demonstrate The Following Skills & Attributes During Your Waiter / Waitress Interview:
- An ability to provide excellent customer service;
- An understanding of how to properly deal with a complaint;
- A flexible approach to your work and able to work the hours specified;
- Basic numeracy skills and a positive and cheery attitude whilst at work;
- Able to follow and adhere to food hygiene and safety standards.

During interviews I talk while smiling the entire time not once breaking my smile, never blinking or breaking eye contact. It shows friendliness.

It’s also important to reveal the whites above your eyes when you smile. It shows you pay attention very well.

I’ve worked in the hospitality industry for over a decade but I am mentally preparing for an interview as a server, I’ve been out of the game for about four years, and even as a Seasoned restaurant employee, this tutorial was an excellent refresher and will make all the difference in my interview this afternoon!

@@ayybibi well it did give me confidence but every restaurant is different with rules and people. What I would recommend is to be calm and strong and be ready for anything. Which is useful for practically anything. Personally I passed on the job because I didn’t understand what I was getting into because I’ve never been to that specific restaurant. It really seemed fat paced. But that was 8 months ago. I’ve been working at another food place for 7 months and built up some experience and I would feel confident to take on the waiter job no problem. Hope this help and good luck!
