The Chicago Transit Authority placed an order for 484 new NovaBuses in 1998. These were low floor buses and ADA-compliant. After Flxible and GM buses went defunct, the CTA looked to NovaBus for purchasing buses to meet "Buy American" requirements for the United States transit bus market.
