Here's the notes I wrote for the first part of the Tetris theme I used as an example in the video:
22----17--18--20----18--17--
15----15--18--22----20--18--
17----17--18--20----22----18----
15----15
The numbers represent the number of times you have to right click the note block, the dashes represent the number of redstone ticks needed between each note.

Always wanted to be able to read music never thought I’d learn it in a Minecraft tutorial
Scyan same
same
But... This isn't reading music. You would not be able to tell me the name of every note on the staff just by watching this.
@@Ausar0 there are resource packs in minecraft that label the blocks.
It's possible.
@@Ausar0 I think this combined with a 2 minute guide on traditional music would do the trick for learning the basics
everyone has to start somewhere and more people understanding music is always a good thing
This is a rare gem.
There are very few people that can explain this in simple terms yet make it so informative.
Thank you very much for this!

Do you know how to get higher notes?
This wasn’t clickbait it actually is the ultimate noteblock tutorial
I know it's so helpful
lol
FR ? I came here for looking at some good and quick reviews
pdf folder
something 3:09
i think it would be the ultimate tutorial if he also showed what blocks changed the instrument type of the noteblocks
Me: * _knows nothing about notes_ *
* _watches how to make noteblock music_ *

Go home music stealer
i learned more here than my elementary music class
you were paying attention this time
@@BlaxeFrost-X
We were payin attention
We just do not know how does it do
also said my pianist teacher
Note block studio is great, but I think it removes the fun of tinkering with redstone to make in game music
Noteblock tips :
Divide your clicking pattern by 4
(Click 4 notes, click another 4 notes, and so on and so for)
That way, you won't get confused which number are you right now and it let you build faster
This was incredibly helpful. Never learned music theory, but I do understand redstone. Finally got it into a format I can replicate
I've been wanting to make a song in Minecraft for awhile now, and so glad I found your tutorial. I had no idea where to begin, but now I feel I will be able to make it a reality. Thank you so much!
this is the most helpful tutorial i've been able to find, thank you :)
One of the gems out there on youtube
This is one of the best tutorials on youtube its just so good
Thanks so much! I made a few tweaks to your redstone so it's more efficient, but great video and now I am a note block amateur.
I'd love to see your design. You should post it on Twitter so I can see!
There are also texture packs that can help you with tuning the note blocks since the particle effects can be re-textured into numbers and sometimes it's a bit difficult since you can miss count
That's so clever! Do you know the name of the texture packs?
Thank you for explaining this in a way that actually makes sense for musicians!
This is such an awesome video. I've always been super intimidated by redstone so I was intimidated with creating music with noteblocks. Your video is kind of like music theory and it made it really easy for me to understand. I can read sheet music and seeing how to map out the notes on a block in sheet music form. Thank you so much for this video!
I'm so glad I took three years of music theory, this tutorial was super helpful, thank you so much!!!
I've always tried to get my head round this and you explained this better than any music teacher ever could! Thanks for teaching me!
Thank you for this extremly helpful tutorial. Now I can set "Chöre" by Mark Forster as my Minecraft doorbell!
This is the best video on UA-cam. No one can beat it, and youtube peaked bc of it
Goodbye my entire weekend
wow ok i feel smart now!! really useful
dirt will create piano sound so ofc u can use em
Ya, different blocks make different instruments. He just used emerald because it makes an 8 bit sound
This is exactly what I was looking for. Completely new to reading music, but with observing how it comes to life in a game really makes it click. Thank you!!
I came here after 4 years to tell you, bro is not lying
A great way to see what note you are on is to go into F3 mode, and the note that you are on will be shown on the right side, beneath "Targeted Block."
3:00 one of the most important parts
edit: 2:00 aswell
I already knew music theory but thanks to you, I know how it works now in Minecraft. I knew it sounded familiar lol
If it's not too much treble, I'd love to see you make that in your Artisan bass. If it's not your forte, I understand.
VanillaTweaks has a great texture pack add-on that allows you to see the notes on the noteblocks, which makes doing this way, way easier
*_No shet, but I was playing Tetris by note blocks in my head before the sheet music popped up. I was like, wHAt._*
This is so incredibly helpful! I know barely anything about music and this made it so easy to understand. Thank you!
I just learned how to read music in 12 minutes
For anyone who wants, vanilla tweaks has a resource pack that adds a display to noteblocks. It shows the number, as well as the note itself. I personally use and love it
I was really sad that there was no subnautica abandoned ship noteblock tutorial so I watched this and now I will make my own! Thanks 👍
Thank you so much! I have a survival world and wanted to make a bunch of cool songs and now I don’t need to look at a UA-cam tutorial each time
I had troubles understanding it because I am not a music guy. But it's still amazing. I love your content please keep up with the great work.
3:38 The slap noise is there like *Nice*
I’ve always been comfused with these and slowly learning is possible keep it up 👍 5:30
Thx i was looking around a while but all i found were useless step-by-step tutorials for one song without explanation, so this was really really helpful. Now I can do Hedwig‘s Theme xD
As a choir who has to sight read read everyday, I understand this more than I thought I would
that was perfect, thank you. you totally earned my subscription
That cheat-sheet is money, Sooo helpful
I like how you can make music with note blocks in Minecraft and Mario Maker
Holy crap was making Californication by RHCP but the bass line used sixteenth triplets you are literately my savior.
The tempo may not be perfect, but yeah! Glad to help!
As a music student this helped very much thank you 😁
Wow, thank you, amazing! I’m making a Zelda themed hardcore world and I wanted to add in some Zelda music. Now I can! 😄
I'm saving this video man, this helps a lot
That dash thing is super useful! Thanks man!
Use a noteblock texture pack that shows the notes then google the song that you want in letter notes
wonderful video. even with no musical ability i was able to understand and do this. Thank you

Best tutorial I’ve seen!!
It also helps to learn how the \clone command works if the song has repeating parts.
This is so helpful you just earned a subscriber
Hold on, how is a high G made? there arent enough numbers on the blocks to reach that high, or is there?
Incredibly helpful, omg, thank you
Earned a sub! I'm going to apply this in my LoTR themed base :)
Okay when I was 13 I was learning about notes and timings.. I gave up because I never understood it. I couldn't grasp it.
I'm 28 now and it all just clicked just after 5mins into this video.
Wow.
Also: I'd recommend the music note resource pack. It labels the blocks with how many click, the instrument, and the note. It's great help.
You just made my day hahaha! Also, yup! I did a video on a 3d note block resource pack not too long after this video.
I just wanted to know how to connect them but hey I got a free lesson on Music Theory!
I wanna make the song "Some days" by wingy but I just can't find a note sheet for it ill just go for something more simple
that's my tip when your starting DON'T START WITH COMPLEX/LONG songs you'll rip your hair out go simple and maybe something repeatable
This is how classes should be teached
Thank you. You explain things very easily and in away I can understand.
I wished I payed more attention In music class
TYSM for the guide!!!
unfortunately the main melody of the song I want to recreate goes up to 3 octaves :(
The quarter note and half note thing confuses me cause my brain has been locked in minims quaver crotchets etc.I know they are the same but I can’t translate 😭😭🤣
Thanks Im tryna make a love song for my crush
Wow I actually learned something
Some songs can’t be played on note blocks, either because a) there are only so many instruments (there is no oboe, that is needed for the Moldau) or b) there are more than 24 notes(this is a problem for songs like rondo alla turca)
All that means is you need to be creative and alter the arrangement to meet the limitations of noteblocks!
Time to stick bug my friends
How do you add baselines and stuff? or how do you hook up the base to the actual song (i dont even know what im talking about i just think it sounds good with bass)
what about bass clef?
Can you do "Reach Out To The Truth"?
Does it only work with emerald blocks?
the name doe.... minecraft daddy... im dying
The only thing i dont get is how do you play long notes like whole and half notes?
Half notes uses 8 ticks and whole note uses 12. Which means Half note is 2 redstone repeaters on 4 ticks and 3 redstone repeaters with 4 ticks for whole notes.
You can't, sadly. Really would love to make a mod that plays the note for the duration of the redstone pulse, would be a fun challenge. Till then, if it's needed, depending on the instrument, you could just repeat the note every tick. Doesn't sound awesome, but sometimes it does the job ha
Is it possible to make a tempo of 6/8
Being in an high school band makes this 50% easier
I do the same hum thing where you try to tune the noteblock
tnx for very helpful tutorial 😄😄
Wow now i know how to use note block tqvm
Say one would want this connected to multiple strings of note blocks thus allowing for the ability to play multiple notes at the same time - wouldn't the button method make that easier to connect them and allow for the timing to be synchronized? Genuinely asking Im new to noteblocking despite having my surv world for 5+ years
I can’t really imagine anyone with no prior musical knowledge to be able to do this effectively
fr... i have lots of prior musical knowledge, as i have been in chorus for 6 years and i played violin for 3 of those, but i still get confused with this sometimes
Thank you so much, this was so helpful.
Dude you are amazing
Bloody Legend.
Encanto dolores we dont talk about bruno part: 9999999 beats per minute
Are there ways to use commands to speed up the note placement?
Do you have a build tutorial for your note tester?
I see that in youtube videos they have double noteblocks and in wondering if you can teach us about that I'm super interested (ik no one will see.this but I will still ask)
I was just wondering, how many ticks are in a quintuplet eighth note? Because I'm trying to make "Wrecking Ball" in Minecraft so I can listen to it offline :P
Technoblade: Finally a worthy opponent! Our battle will be legendary!
This is a very notable endeavor,
but be careful for songs can take forever!
With every mark on the staff,
too many wacks make a gaff,
then back 'round the noteblock you must gather.
How would you do any rests
Just put a solid block in place of where the noteblock would go.
Oh my god thank you!
does anyone know how do I find those notes? I need a cash register sound, but I have no clue how to choose the notes
band kids can relate to this 100%
Hazardous_Lime Orchestra as well
Where did you find the tetris theme sheet music?
Bruh I came up with the same thing whilst trying to make what is love, but It was so hard without knowing any music theory at all
I'm going to watch this till I have memorized every word..
😐
