If hardness is increasing strength will increase but at a point strength starts decreasing when the carbon content exceed 0.83 per in steels so if strength increases toughness will also be increased but ductility will decrease

yes, an increase in C results increase in HARDNESS and if it cracks then it has low energy absorbing capacity. So toughness is decreased.
