Tucker was a great spinto tenor with a solid vocal line and great high notes. He and Del Monaco are my favorites in this role as Canio who is tormented by his wife's adultery and Tucker demonstrates that feeling perfectly as he performs this aria.

If you believe that happened, then why didn't you specify the exact time in the video where the alleged "failure to hold" takes place. Only then will we be able to judge the sincerity of your comment.
@SHICOFF1 Agree. He's not responded to my challenge and so we can only regard his criticism as disingenuous. There are a few other comments on UA-cam concerning Tucker's voice that are plainly incongruous with his power and consistency of delivery.

I saw him sing it in June 1973, Corelli sang the Cav. then Tucker sang the Pag. It was at the Met. but not a brdcst.
What does that even mean "failed to hold a note?" Maybe you have a hearing failure. Yeah, that's it.

That's because he sings with emotion unlike alot of famous tenors. You should listen to him and Robert Merrill duet
