You're probably the nicest on topic channel that has the small subscription count of any of the channels i follow. love to see it. love that old school mentality.
What about that time they send the Pinkertons to someones home because they accidentally send him the as of yet unreleased "phyrexia aftermath" instead of "phyrexia". And thus, instead of asking the person to take down the youtube pack opening, or writing a letter. They decided to send people to his house to reclaim the cards though intimidation tactics.
Glad I moved away from WOTC a few years back. Never felt more free. Lots of great products out there of fantastic quality that I could only have dreamed of.
WOTC stats: Int 3 - 0% chance of success on 'read the room' checks Wis 3 - 3 on all saving throws vs common sense Cha 3 -30% creator loyalty base, -25% creator reaction adjustment
Yes. That was for Magic the Gathering Cards but nothing to do with DnD news. The pinkertons were sent by WoTC because the guy bought some packs of cards but was mistakenly given a different product by the store that was technically not suppose to be on shelves yet. WoTC only found out and sent the Pinkertons because the dude is a big-ish UA-camr and started opening up cards on stream.
Yeah more dumb moves by WotC, but they're not really factor for me anymore. I have my AD&D and my OSE, and a lifetime worth of old TSR stuff to go with it. I'm good. WotC doesn't want me for a customer, and I'm ok with not being one.
The next edition of D&D will be an MMO anyway. Nothing we can do about it now. Trying to change it is polishing the brass on the Titannic. I'll be over here playing other games that aren't D&DEI.
Plus, not only coukd they claim it as their own, they could start oublishing it and profit off it themselves, in whole or in part, andbhad the rught to tell you to stop publishing it. It also gave WotC the sole rights to produce ANY software which emulates a tabletop roleplaying environment, regardless of whether it was D&D related or not. Never mind that VTTs have been around since the mid-90s, and WotC sure as hell didnt invent them. Actually, they're pretty late to the party.
Yea, well for me drow still get impaired in sunlight, races are still races, everyone has strengths and weaknesses based on their race and elves and humans can create all the half-blood progeny they want since I at the least acknowledge people for their differences and how it makes them unique.
Whilst this isn't a great look on WotC, it does seem like the dude pretty blatantly broke copyright and his NDA. He did an entire page-by-page, with the entire pages on screen, for the entire book. That's a whole different beast than picking a few cool paragraphs to share and discuss. It also looks like WotC worked with JorPHdan to get the video back up and the strike removed once he blurred out some of the pages.
It's rough be a shill of WotC. The page thru I think was a little more then fair use or what was intended to be shown. nice video summing up past nonsense
The OGL was always a double-edged sword... I still think the "racism" of the Orcs and Drow is hilarious... It was started by some ****bag social media wannabe, who doesn't even play D&D, making erronious claims on races based on bandwagon arguments used by people doing the same thing to J.R.R.Tolkien's Orcs & Goblins... Although, yes, WotC then proceeded to put their pants on their head when doing the Hadozee artwork...like...wow... Could have just reused the 3e artwork of Gorilla/Orangutan-like Sailor-folk...but...nope! And now this... Going after UA-camrs talking about their new thing... I guess WotC is so involved in "Media Coverage", they think "ANY news is GOOD news!" ...f***...it probably is, too...
You forget firing most of their staff right before Christmas and then the AI couldnt finish the books on time.
They don't want my money and I will not be giving it to them.
Yep
We still have our pig faced orcs or dog like kobolds right?
As much as they'd like to, they can't take away our old stuff!
Viva la OSR!
Never ascribe to malice what can be explained by stupidity
Is it really better to assume their lawyers can’t read? Cause fair use specifically has the word “reviews” in it
"your increasingly shaky laws" hit hard ngl
Not the sharpest knives in the bag-o-holding are they?

And yet they will probably stay in this abusive relationship anyway. Here's hoping people figure things out this time around!
Shills gotta make a living some how.
Ah the good ol create a problem and ride in as the savior
LOL Well said, and they stand behind their real world analogy so much they took down the original article that started it.

seems a bit too high
I'd have shared this video for the disclaimer at the beginning, let's face it. (and I already have.)
Didn't they send the pinktertons after a guy who opened some cards or was that someone else?
Yes. That was for Magic the Gathering Cards but nothing to do with DnD news.

I’m someone who likes 5e but I have all I need from WOTC the last 4-5 books was absolutely trash so 3rd party has been the way to go for a long while
I don't mind 5e either, and some books for the 5e line were good... but those days are past...

The best free promotion paizo could ever have wished for.
Like so many people on UA-cam you point out the OGL without noting that it is a permission slip for something you already have the legal right to do.
The best!!!
Thanks for sharing their stupidity

They are a bunch of dork's
That's why homebrew stuff based on 4e and 3e.
I like this skeleton guy
Not my D&D. 😒
Thankfully you have options!
