I can't skate 😂 I'm a total noobie here! I likes the flat circle around the island. I live near JB Williams, but my fav park is DeSHong because of all the flat areas and the 3 different sized ramps!
Exactly! I'm pretty new to skating-just started a month ago-so I'm still learning the basics. My thoughts on skateparks come from a beginner's perspective, focusing on how much flat ground and smaller transitions they have. I’ve also heard from more experienced skaters, and they’re not huge fans either, since the design feels a bit awkward. Oh, and about my logo-thanks! I actually modified the iconic Thrasher logo. I’ve always been a fan of how skate brands remix famous logos and characters for their designs. It’s such a cool vibe! Appreciate you watching!
That's awesome!! Thanks for the sub!! I just hope that I can progress 😂 It's definitely not like riding a bike, can't just jump on and pick up where you left off. Plus the board shapes are a lot different from the classic shaped boards that I had back in the day! I just gotta keep taking baby steps!
You are doing the right thing, taking it slow and getting comfortable on the board. I know some earlier slams have influence this and I made similar errors trying to run before I could walk (and still make them 🤣) Park is interesting, parts of it look good but ledges (from what I could tell) in random places with no run up and no coping on bowl.... but still a cool chill spot to learn! Keep it up man
Thanks for the encouragement! Yes I definitely plan to continue taking it slow, or taking baby steps. I have 4 skate parks within 6 miles of my house that are all way better for me than this park, so I doubt I'll be going back to this one unless a friend invites me. For now, I've decided on my FAVORITE spot, it's called DeShong Park. It's featured in some of my other videos as well as my intro clip in this video!
Nice work brother, I love your grip tape job! 💪 So that skatepark looks pretty decent with all the roll ins and small bowls. The only thing is it looks pretty spread out and may be hard to keep speed up there. Also if you want to get rid of your bushing squeeking like that pick up some silicone spray lube and loosen the trucks and get a little spray in there. Also put a little on the little cup on the front of the truck. It will be buttery smooth then. Make sure you wipe off any excess. Happy skating, looks like you are doing great. I'm 53 so I'm having my struggles and little victories as well. 🍺🍺🍺🍺
Oh nice, thank you so much for the tip!!! Yeah that squeak is a little annoying, not too bad. I just thought it was something I'd have to deal with! Good to know that there is a solution. I have Indy Black Hard bushings in my trucks and I do have them rather tight. Perhaps I should get another set of bushings and not tighten them so tight now that I am getting a little more comfortable on the board. I o weigh 280 pounds so I don't know if that will affect how loose or tight they should be?
@@MidlifeSkaterATL Yeah the silicone spray works well. It doesn't totally get rid of the clicks and squeaks but it's way better after. I'm using the exact same bushings as you. I'm currently 245lbs I was 270 over winter. I've made it down to 210 before through diet and skateboarding and walking. I started in 2016, never skated as a kid and I was 44 years old. I had a great first season then I had my back foot slip off the board and my front foot stayed on the board causing me to do the splits. Because of this I tore my knee MCL. So no walking for 2 months and then winter. 2017 I should have kept skating but I just wasn't feeling it and my knee still hurt a bit. I ended up quitting for 8 years until now. Just got back into it last month at 53 with 1 year skating experience in my life. I wish I hadn't quit in 2017 now, but here I am now again skating, lol. 😆😆
@@AWS-skateboarding Nice job on the weight-loss! That's partly why I started skating, I figured it was a great way to be more active & burn calories while having fun! That sounds like it was a rough injury, I'm glad you're better and back on board now!! As an adult I am not as fearless as I was when I was a kid, so i plan on taking it very slow and careful, but not so careful that I do not try new things.
@@MidlifeSkaterATL Yeah I pushed myself too hard in 2016. I realize now that in order to skate decently it's not only about getting better balance but getting the body leaner and stronger. You have to be athletic or young to be able to skateboard. So taking it slow until you get stronger and more balanced is a smart way to approach skating as an adult. I'm slowly trying to do the same thing while managing my "old age" physical limits. lol.
Let’s gooo!
Yo wya.. I live next to this park..
If u can skate.. this park is decent
