I'm from Detroit, the night of this broadcast the electrifying mojo I was a sophomore high School Cody high baby. There was never a DJ quite like the electrifying mojo and I can honestly say I'm a proud member of the midnight funk association to this day and I'm 57, listening to these recordings bring such back awesome memories of Detroit

Listened to electrifying Mojo loyally and taped his shows on cassettes, such great memories and never experienced another DJ like him. He opened his audience to music we may have never ventured to listen to. The late 70's and early 80's were a special time in Detroit that I will never forget!

Nothing Like MOJO's mixing...infact a Depeche Mode documentary referenced MOJO's mixing.....God Bless Detroit....God Bless America....God Bless MOJO!
Imagine if corporate radio playlists were replaced by music loving djs with just 1/4 of Mojo's talent, people would listen to radio again, good musicians would get the attention they deserve, and the community would be better off.

Yea it's pretty amazing to think that for a LONG time we had excellent DJ's... not just good DJ's but EXCELLENT ones, in basically EVERY genre. It all came crashing down in a relatively short period of time. I was lucky to have been introduced (over the phone) to Mojo by a mutual friend. It was a stunning experience. But WGPR, though they don't often get the credit they deserve, had fantastic personalities right up to their unfortunate end. Ah well, it lives on (sort of) through UA-cam. Just unbelievable to think we can't turn ANY station on in Detroit and expect much of anything anymore.

A lot of people don't realize how smart this guy was. The reason he never showed his face because he didn't want to get caught in the ego of being a local celebrity. First and foremost the music always took center stage every night. When we saw him in public it was like talking to a next door neighbor
Great memories of my parents letting me and my brother sleep next to the Pioneer SX (the only radio in the house until my brother got a boombox) listening to Mojo on Friday nights.

I was living on E. Philadelphia (north end) at the time. After playing tag, double Dutch, skating or playing football ( I had to come in the house or on the porch when the street lights came on), I would wind down or get hyped again off Mojo. How wonderful for us, and how fortunate we were, to have grown up being exposed to positive, affirmative, uplifting messages back then....tie a knot and hang on...communicate to avoid conflict....ain't nobody bad like you....etc....as opposed to the victim/disease/narcissistic culture that is killing our nation today.
