- Great to be back out cycling - just proved to me that I don't need a fancy carbon bike to enjoy it (although I can't lie I do miss baby canyon!). Quite a windy ride (as you can probably hear at some points, sorry!) but I enjoyed it as always.
I'm doing okay after the crash - nerves are high but best thing is to get back out, I haven't come off uninjured but the physio has advised cycling is good for my knee injury so I'm taking things slower, stretching more and listening to my body, but I won't be stopping cycling, I love it too much :D
Thanks so so much for watching!
PBP = Paris Brest Paris for anyone wondering :)
(I am a brand ambassador for SunGod and Le Col which means I get this kit, which features in this video, given to me for free - super grateful for this! My Met helmet was gifted to me by Raleigh bikes, again super grateful)
Nice to see a Dawes Galaxy on the road! Mine is still running strong despite it being 50 years old this year. But i never rode it 100 miles so you’ve impressed me
I’ve got an old galaxy to there real tanks.
Great to see you back on the road again Amy. Hopefully you can avail yourself of the Canyon crash replacement program for the frame, salvage the components off the old one, and get your Canyon back on the road too.
What an adaptable bike it is , Good old 531 with all the braze on's enabling you to turn into anything you want really if you like messing around with bikes and upgrades.
Big up for doing that on a Dawes Galaxy....impressed.
yep, I used to tour on the upright bar version. They are a heavy bike!
I've always been against n + 1 but now I want a steel bike! glad you're back riding.
Well done Amy pleased to see you back out and about on your bike again, take care and enjoy your week
Such a jovial spirit ! Glad to see ya doing better back out riding . I just don't understand riding over 100 miles for hrs on end, maybe I'll do it one day😒
Awesome stamina. Don't know how you do it. I must do longer rides. . Good that you're giving the kookaburra some comp. She's been having a easy run of it .
Hi Amy sorry about your canyon hope you get another soon nothing wrong with a Dawes steel is real nice to see you still smiling xx
Awesome and unbeatable Amy. Back in the saddle!! 👍👍👍👍
Yay, glad you’re back out!
Ayyy good work Guys. Glad your both well and good to see you back out on the bike Amy. Sorry to hear about your bike. Exciting times for a new one though. Take care , Greg.
Dawes 531 Galaxy a nice classic comfy long distance ride steed.. Will be worth hanging on to as an investment , a true classic
Glad ur back out cycling and making video..tough about the canyon..well done you
I got a Galaxy 3 yrs ago for £160 on Gumtree- not light but totally reliable. I’ve done LEL and PBP on it - great bike and great value. Still looks great despite being 30+ years old. Don’t bother getting another carbon bike you’ll do fine on the Galaxy!!
That’s awesome to hear! PBP is such a great ride, LEL is on my list for 2025 🤞🤞
Great ride. I like your energy and positivity. 👍
Watching from Philippines,ride safe always,🚴
Great to see the pigtails are back out, well done you for getting back in the saddle so quickly… ride safe.
Great to see you back and enjoying Audax. Even a dance on this one!
Well done for getting straight back out after the last upsetting video. The Galaxy would definitely not be the most aero bike, especially with those mudguards and huge saddle bag fitted.
Thanks!! Haha I was just glad I could still ride!
Well done, Amy! Keep it solid steel! What a fine machine that Dawees Galaxy is. Happy journey! #steelisreal #dropbarsnotbombs
Thank you!!
Fantastic to see you back out and looking confident 👍🏼
Way to get back on the horse again so fast, so to say. Good for you! 👍💪
You really are remarkable. Great video and well done. Please keep them coming...
Yeah!!!! 🤘⚡🤘 Way to get back at it, Amy! Body might not have been feeling great, as you said, but can certainly tell your spirits were high. That smile was a dead give away. 200km, a little over a week after the mishap? You more than earned that curry. Stay awesome.
Nice ride on the “old” bike. Respect, heavy bike and not feeling 100% ok
A cyclist that doesn't drink coffee 😲
Good to see you back out
Good to see you back out there, well done on the ride
Glad to see you back at it. You'd probably feel it worse, fitness wise, if you had waited for all the aches and pains to go.
The Galaxy would have been the machine for Audax's back in the day, when 'hand built in Birmingham' meant something. How did you find the bar-end shifters and reduced gear count?
Thanks! The bar end shifters too a little getting used to but they weren’t too bad! And I’m a bit of a grinder on the gears so I stayed in the top cog most of the ride 😂
Nice to see you using Dad's galaxy!. Sorry about your bike being nic nacked!. But also nice to know you don't need a 6.8kg bike to do long distances on would be great to hear a more in depth review of your dad's bike compared to a modern bike. Well done on completing the event!!.
Not only back but looking even fitter and stronger.
Awesome to see you back on the bike so quickly...can't keep a good cyclist down, you go smash that PBP!! 🙂
Really great to see Kyle supporting you so well through difficult times.
Looking up, a new bike day in the future.
I think you can see that while heavy, steel has an amazing feel.
Yes he’s great! And the new bike is currently being built! :D
Oh yes the galaxy is lovely to ride!
Rest in peace Canyon!! Glad your well
Good going .. i did the cingle de mont ventoux on my dawes ultra galaxy ... i love the thing! 😄
Amazing!!
I can see a GCN video in the works from that. Pro on a Dawes versus Amateur on a pro bike LOL.
Great to see you back out there. Does the drivers insurance cover a replacement bike?
Hopefully!
I’m happy to see you guys ❤
I've just got one of this Dawes Super galaxy from 1987, so lovely bike. What happen to yours? :)
I have my regulars road 2021 bike, but I rellay enjoy also to ride this dawes as well. It's really awesome!
It's my Dad's bike, I used it when I was hit by a car so my bike was written off, all good now though, i do love the little Dawes ☺️
I did my first pbp on a raleigh randonneur in 1991. Used same one last year for a 600
Amazing!! They’re long lasting 🙌
@@amy.cycling.adventures still running sachs non index and shimano biopace. Ps I was the one on 3 wheels
@@amy.cycling.adventures on wrags and 300 that is
Helmet still on in the car home - can never be too safe 🤣
Oh good it's not just me who uses the expression "knick-knacked"😂
😂
Well done
Thank you 🫶
Closed caption at the start said you were farting fit : D Well done, you were fresh as a daisy at the end, getting back on as fast as possible after a crash is so important.,
PBP 23 qualifier? This year is all about Paris
That’s right!
Awesome Job to you and Karl! I hate to hear your is done for and I hope you weren't hurting too bad! Enjoy your curry!!! LOL
I can't get that one across the pond, I'm a 54 cm, I've only found a small so far.
I'm a medium, 5'9 30in inseem.
So glad you are back on the bike, is the old bike insured? or is the driver doing the right thing?
Hopefully getting it through insurance :)
Dawes Galaxy, fuck, I had a Dawes SUPER Galaxy, beat that. I loved the bike, did loads of tours on it, even from Scotland to Sweden via Belgium but it cracked. Every 531 frame I have had has cracked. I tore it down , threw it away and got a chr-mo frame for touring, unbreakable, toured thro Sweden into Norway etc. 531 frames have a great feel to them but I have had four break on me, never again. Cr-Mo is the way to go, if its a touring bike. By the way, I love you.
Brilliant !
Nice one great video !
Well done!
Find it really confusing with all the reference to miles.
I have always used KM when cycling, makes life so much easier, especially as events are in KM.
No conversion necessary then.
I keep finding myself saying 'ding dang done'.
Haha! Best way to finish a ride 🙌
Love it - helmet on in car! Proper nik-nak’d - almost sit down shower territory!
Fair play!!
Did you ever get anything from the bloody fool who hit you?
I would have thought you father would have named her Dianna Dawes lol, showing my age.
Dawes Galaxy classic tour bike
Yes! My Dad has done many tours with it! :D
No holding you back !
Hallo Amy what is the brand of Your sunglasses? MfG from Germany
Hi! They’re SunGod I’m an ambassador for their brand so I’m really lucky that I get them for free! But they’re great :)
@@amy.cycling.adventures Okay Thank You 👍
Curry well earned 🔥💪💪💪👊😃
How does the following day feel for you?
Not too bad! But a lot more achy than usual! Got to let the body recover!
Take the DG to PBP. Don't tell your dad.
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
At least you can see the rider with the hi-viz jersey. Thought you might have learnt your lesson after your crash 🤔.
Nice bit of victim blaming
@@PeeJay1XNot at all, giving advice to fellow cyclists to try and make them less likely to be involved in an accident. Hardly victim blaming, more concern for others, you want to try it sometime.
@@davtwill531 did she ask you for advice?
The world’s most awesome Wonder Woman, welcome back! How’s your lovely bike? Anyway I’m glad to see you back on your bike, can’t wait to see your next adventures! Cheers! ❤️
Thank you! The canyon is written off unfortunately!
