As someone who lives in the UK this man should be soooooo grateful having a surgeon do his hip replacement straight away. I'm on a very long waiting list for endometriosis removal surgery for two years now. This man needs to be more grateful than this he's actually getting treatment straight away. I don't care what gender the doctor is as long as they are qualified to do the surgery asap.
People shouldn't judge a book by its cover. This man was being very sexist and I am glad he got what he deserved. Men can be nurses and women can be doctors, it doesn't matter. And obviously this man is bad at listening because if he was listening he would have had his surgery under the best doctor in the state. Don't get me wrong, you can have whatever preference of a gendered doctor but you don't have to be rude and obnoxious about it. I would love to have this doctor but my hip is working great! In fact I'm wanting to be an elementary teacher even though I'm a guy. What matters is that I'm learning and taking the proper schooling to become one and I'm sure there are men out there who are teaching already.
Out of all the doctors I have visited over the past 20 years of my life, only four were male (including two very sweet elderly men). My congenital foot deformity was fixed by a female surgeon when I was 6. I also had experiences with male nurses as a teenager, who were very caring and professional. My best friend in high school, Kevin, went to the USA to study nursing. No occupation should be defined by gender.

Doctors are independent contractors and have the right to accept or refuse to care for a patient. If there isn't trust between a patient and their doctor, find a different doctor. Problem is sometimes good doctors are in high demand so you have to wait for an appointment.

My left hip revision ended up botched. The surgeon, he smashed my femur to get an extremely loose prosthesis out. Other surgeons said it could’ve been pulled out slowly instead of what the surgeon did. Had it done in August 2011. If it wasn’t for my mom watching in the gallery, it’s a teaching hospital, that surgeon would’ve let me bleed out on the table. I was very close to dying on the table. My mom halted the surgery and made damn sure he didn’t end my life. Now, I have a broken pelvis where the hip joint is. I’m still looking for another orthopedic surgeon and still getting the same response. I am a very extreme high risk patient. I bleed out. It’s hard to wake me after surgery. Can’t even get oral surgery to prepare for dentures. The surgeon is in his 90’s and still practicing. There are no lawyers that’ll take on UPMC which is the hospital system he’s affiliated with. So, I will keep falling & dislocating my hip.
For a long time, my primary care doctor at the VA hospital was a woman, and I really liked her better than some of the male doctors that I have had there.

My left hip revision ended up botched. The surgeon, he smashed my femur to get an extremely loose prosthesis out. Other surgeons said it could’ve been pulled out slowly instead of what the surgeon did. Had it done in August 2011. If it wasn’t for my mom watching in the gallery, it’s a teaching hospital, that surgeon would’ve let me bleed out on the table. I was very close to dying on the table. My mom halted the surgery and made damn sure he didn’t end my life. Now, I have a broken pelvis where the hip joint is. I’m still looking for another orthopedic surgeon and still getting the same response. I am a very extreme high risk patient. I bleed out. It’s hard to wake me after surgery. Can’t even get oral surgery to prepare for dentures. The surgeon is in his 90’s and still practicing. There are no lawyers that’ll take on UPMC which is the hospital system he’s affiliated with. So, I will keep falling & dislocating my hip.

For a long time, my primary care doctor at the VA hospital was a woman, and I really liked her better than some of the male doctors that I have had there.
