Correct me if I'm wrong. This guy took an old chainsaw then disassembled it a bit, painted everything with a spray can and slapped everything back together?

Well, if it’s going to actually be a working saw, and it works and has decent compression then I wouldn’t turn it into a museum piece either. I guess one could quibble with what a “restoration” means, but it’s obvious some of you take it to mean an overhaul as well? I’m in the same boat now. Just picked up a big old Husky 380CD 77cc. Not pretty but she’s a bad ass that runs well. It came with a knurled steel full wrap box handle I’ve got out for powder coating or whatever the company thinks is the most durable. I’ve got to paint the thing. It’s a pro saw. Even clutch cover and starter coil shield are metal. Only the top is plastic, but really thick plastic. Any advice on paint and prep? I bought Rustoleum Husqvarna Orange-the original Orange. Got new decals. As far as mechanicals, I’ll probably stick for now other than replacing a few parts. Mostly clean or get rust or grime off. Piston looks amazingly good. Looks like it was a one owner saw until it went to a collector who sold it to me

I have an old 288 XP that i bought for 50 bucks . i had to fix the recoil mechanism but now it runs awesome even with a scored piston on the exhaust side . i also had an old 60 cc pioneer with a scored piston that served me well for a few years until i got a new husky firewood saw .

    It's not restoration, it's repainting
