AI definitely seems more coordinated in this one. A lot less unit spam than usual; more open space in their borders. Seemed to tech up their troops better, too. I like this mod; I'd like to see more of it.
On King you should still be able to rush the Great Library, in a city with just decent production. If its not possible, try to get every tech that offers a science building as soon as possible: (Writing, Education, Scientific Theory). Rationalism is often concidered a must, no matter which win condition you go for. That should solve the tech problem. When it comes to your army, you should be able to hold off a larger invasion force quite easily if the technological gap isnt too noticable. Main rule is to retreat units from the front if they are in danger of being wiped out. Better to yield a tile or 2 than to lose an entire unit. The AI is indeed pretty incompetent when it comes to warfare. Obviously you should attempt to kill damaged units first but in general the rule is: target siege units first. then ranged, then melee, then mounted.

Sometimes they are so dumb that they only send 1 or 2 melee units during a siege. Kill those, and losing cities becomes literally impossible. Enjoy your game!
Always keep an eye on your population because pop=science. Prioritize growth in your cities, which means always work the tiles that gives you most amount of food, but dont forget about production. You can also try playing as scientific civs like babylon and korea. In warfare, your priority should be killing as much enemy units as possible WHILE you keep your own units. Thus those units, usually archers, get lots of promotion and theyll be a lot stronger
I would like to imagine Skolas should be helping Sweden win in the late game considering it gives way more Science per Pop than the regular Public School.
