  • The Van Wyck Expressway connects all the major highways and boulevards in Queens with JFK Airport. Running north to south, it also forms the only interstate truck route south of the Long Island Expressway. Not only is this route a vital link in the highway network, but it also is one of the busiest routes in all of NYC.
Highlights: LIRR Overpass, Airtrain Viaduct, Belt Parkway, JFK Airport, END I-678

I used to live between Jamaica Avenue and Hillside Avenue in beautiful Bellerose Queens.

The Seinfeld episode "The Busboy" comes to mind as I watch this. The scene where Elaine describes her frantic drive to JFK with the boyfriend she can't stand, only to miss his flight due to the five-car pile-up on Rockaway Blvd.
"And then, I hit the Van Wyck. They say no one's ever beaten the Van Wyck, but gentlemen, I tell you this… I came as close as anyone ever has." --Elaine Benes

Hey, that gives me a great idea: Retrace Elaine's drive from the episode! Also, the radio playing in your travels is a nice touch, roadwaywiz. Great way to "timestamp" your videos, and will be interesting to revisit them in a decade or two.

The fact that this section of the Van Wyck was moving at all during daylight makes me question the validity of this video
