No worries, I'm a big fan of Tarja's era in Nightwish, but I'm an even bigger fan of her solo work. So I prefer her now too. Tarja is very experimental: classical music, rock and electronic music, she plays with it all. Her Dark Christmas album is brilliant and she's releasing another rock album next year.
This is Goth just the way I like it. It's spooky and sounds beautiful. Tarja is fantastic, and the children are too. Goth people are peaceful, nothing to fear when they drop by. 🖤🖤🖤
The kids in the choir are Tarja's daughter and her daughter's friends!! :) And they're the reason why this Christmas album is such a wild ride! The last one was pretty traditional, with more classical Christmas songs, but adding a dark beautiful twist. With this one, she let her daughter and her friends pick the songs and now you have Last Christmas and Frosty the Snowman and All I Want for Christmas, sounding like they belong on a horror movie score :D And it's... kind of great?? O Holy Night from this album is really stunning as well :) Also, I really like her vocals nowadays, too!!! She really lets herself be free with them, and she definitely expanded her range! It's really exciting to see. In her live cover of House of Wax (Genelec Artist Room) she used a lot of chest voice, even some vocal fry and entirely contemporary technique. First time I heard it my jaw hit the floor, I was like "Wait that's Tarja??" Anyway, love her and glad you liked this so much, thank you for your reaction! :)

I love his collabs with Gabriel! Their version of Loch Lomond is so beautiful. Definitely something to listen to after the musical advent calendar is done. All of the members of Fearless are so freaking talented and impressive!

Yesterday was Sophia , Bulgaria. Tonight Now she would have finished Bucharest, Romania. Dark like Finland is this time of year. Dark like the traditonal music is. Dark like her melancholic thoughts. Loosing her Mother 20 years ago did put a damnper on Christmas cheer. So for those who can not stand sacchrine forced good cheer comes a darker Christmas celebration. Some people I think were expecting horror core or death metal. Maybe later we will get that. But her Christmas concerts are an all ages show. Giving pre schoolers nightmares a fast way to mobilize upset parents. The choir is probably 5th graders going with their age. There is a limit to how dark you can go. But to transform tired empty, overly bright songs into something entirely new , well Tarja is a musical genius always reinvinting herself. Back in Nightwish she has 3 different singing styles she taught herself. No doubt including input from her vocal coach. But there was no formula to say sing like artist/band X to be successful. They were pionerrs blazing their oen trail And she continues to do so today.
Ok, Rudolph now dresses in all black leather and doesn’t hang with Santa anymore, lol. She certainly gave it a different spin. The nightmare before Rudolph?
Ok, I will admit that this is my first time listening to Tarja, so I had no idea what to expect. I liked it. But, I'm getting some serious Tim Burton vibes off this. Like seriously, I'm having flashbacks to the score from Sleepy Hollow.
Love her vocal range! But how do you take Rudolph the red nose reindeer and turn it into Welcome to the black parade and Resident Evil Village vibes?? Visuals are gorgeous and super spooky!
OMG This is very beautiful. Love that heavy beat. Not very heavy. Gothic not Metal, in my opinion, but very gorgeous. It was a bit spooky. Quite nice. 🥰🥰🥰🇨🇦
Couple suggestions: We wish you a merry Christmas by Hinder and of course Christmas truce by Sabaton. We do have lots of heavy versions of Christmas carols here in Finland, we even have a whole show for that, but they're mostly in finnis. If you're interested about it it's called "Raskasta joulua" which means Heavy Christmas.
Sorry ... couldn't get through this one! I'll admit 100% that her voice is amazing, but please don't turn this song dark. Make it a heavy/power metal song and you've got me! JMO
